The bible teaches the core beliefs of following Jesus. It appears some false teachers
want to preach another gospel which denies these things.

Look at the points made, look up scripture, put it in your life and be saved, Amen

Salvation - repentance, faith, works - founded on purity

Lose any part of the three and ones salvation goes.

Repentance - to abide in wilfull rebellion and sin. Heb 10:26-27
faith - to cease to trust God saves you and the cross forgives you. Hebrews 11:6
works - cease to exercise love flowing through ones life. James 2:26

Repentance
If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left,
but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God. Heb 10:26-27
Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? ......you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. 1 Corinthians 6:9-11

Faith
And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. Heb 11:6
We have come to share in Christ if we hold firmly till the end the confidence we had at first. Heb 3:14

Works
As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead James 2:26
Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing. 1 Peter 3:9

Eternity is pure, without sin, holy, without blemish. What we call blemish and what God calls
blemish is different. We pick at the smallest details, the right way to be polite or show someone
we are together, or not be condemning, or not appreciating enough, or upsetting someone by
being too firm and not recognise our sinful allegiance to wealth, power, sexual desire, selfish
indulgences, holidays we just cannot go without, recognition of our achievements, what we
deserve.

We are happy to be violent within, a raging inferno, lusting after any opportunity that comes along,
wanting that bigger house, car, position, yet outside we want to be seen as being religious, following
Jesus, getting close to others and helping them, in their poor state of spiritual distress.

Little wonder purity is rejected or intimacy and closeness, it would result in a explosion with many injuries.

But this is what Jesus saw in the pharisees. He saw much that was good, but without taming the heart
and being gentle within, there is no real hope of showing true love without.

How bad is the heresies that have come into the church?

So bad they deny the very principles I am sharing from scripture here.
They are a different faith that believes being impure, not repenting, having a temporary faith,
doing no works qualifies you as a member of the Kingdom of heaven.

The whole ministry of Christ is founded on, without a pure heart, you will have a distorted
view of everything and be walking in darkness, sin destroying the very things you hold dear.

Now unfortunately the most vocal against the gospel, will by nature be impure, sinners self
justifying their sin before the Living God and bringing judgement on themselves by so doing.

Brothers and sisters is Christ, stand strong, let love, grace and truth be your strength,
empowered by the Holy Spirit, founded on the cross and redemption, Amen

Grace and Peace to you, in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour.

This is how deep the heresies are, they do not understand the Scriptures by placing man as the initiater of salvation and not God. First question, how does a man know he needs to repent, when we look at what Jesus and the Scriptures have said about the kingdom and the natural man?

John 3:3 “Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

John 6:63, 65 “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life…..65 And he said, “This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless it is granted him by the Father.”

Romans 3:10-11 “None is righteous, no, not one;11 no one understands; no one seeks for God.”

Romans 8:7-8 “For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God's law; indeed, it cannot.8 Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.”

I Corinthians 2:14 “The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned.”

II Corinthians 4:3-4 “And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing.4 In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.”

Ephesians 2:4-5 “But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us,5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved”

Look at history. It has never made a people of God Christlike. It has always failed them, And it always will.

How can you be confidence if you do not think God will perform it, and think you have to perform it yourself. You can’t.

There is no faith in self righteousness

my concern is it's not the Gospel. moralism -- bootstrap theology are enemies of the Gospel, in fact.

He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. (2 Cor 5:21)

that's the heart of the Gospel! it's imputation... substitution. all glory to God!

The heart of the issue is this

1. They do not comprehend what sin is
2. They do not comprehend really the penalty of sin (each sin one commits has with it the death penalty)
3. They do not understand, and thus, water down the law. And in doing so mock God and his righteousness.

So instead, they try to set their own righteousness. And claim it is equal to Gods. Which they do not understand how horrific this is to a holy and righteousness God.

Yet they do it in the name of Jesus and mock others, saying they love sin, They hate righteousness, They hate works (A Lie) when in reality, it is they who do this, because of how much they have WATERED down Gods righteousness into a sinful mockery of God.

Amen, because if He does not start it, He will never perform it until the day of Jesus Christ. Many think that man starts the work and God performs it until the day of Jesus Christ, when it is clear that God is the one who starts that work and performs it, not man.

Holiness and purity

There is a sense in coming to Christ we know He is very different to us.
3 years with Him and the disciples still did not understand His will or methods even though
they were in the midst of them.

When believers compromise with sin, they are playing with fire.
The fire they play with is not reading Gods law, His heart, His words because they feel condemned
just the promises, and then only rarely, but singing praise songs and listening to sermons is ok.

Everything flows from the heart, if the stream is pure so will the life be also.

For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life.
1 Thessalonians 4:7

But you, dear friends, build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit.
Keep yourselves in God's love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.
Jude 1:20-21

Now these words are challenging, but they are also true.
Some strainers after gnats will claim it is impossible to live like this,
because in truth the sins they refuse to give up they need to find any excuse to leave alone.

And the testimony in their lives this is true is thorns and thistles, the tearing of others who
get too close.

Now purity and holiness is a long walk of transformation with much effort and perseverance.
When people preach rest, acceptability of sinful behaviour and attitudes they are just preaching
the world and being friends with the world, and faith will die.

James describes our walk like this

Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds,
because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.
Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
James 1:2-4

If your walk costs you nothing, then your walk is not with Christ.

The only thing I see that is heresy in this thread, is the OP and all the subsequent posts.

You are ripping scriptures out of context, to support this very wrong soteriology.

There is only one thing necessary for salvation - and that is the election of God.

God gives us the grace to believe, through faith, and the ability to repent of our sins. God is the one who leads us in sanctification, which is to say, obedience to the Word, and to Christ.

God is the one who does it all. Salvation is a gift from God, we cannot lose it because of our "behaviour" any more than we can "earn" it by works, drumming up faith or repenting in our own strength.

"For by grace you are saved through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9 it is not from works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, having been created in Christ Jesus for good works that God prepared beforehand so we may do them." Eph. 2:8-10

I notice you didn't put this verse above in any of your posts! Or many others that apply to the gift of salvation! (Works come out of salvation, not to BE saved!)

A friend asked me the other night if people can do whatever they want after being saved. He didn't believe that, but he was making a point that it's what a lot of churches are teaching. He's right, and that scares me.

Are you saying or implying that man's works saves?

Your statements aren't very absolute, for they can be manipulated to say whatever.

With these wise guys in the thread, that's the last thing we need.

Greetings Angela,

It appears you have a very strong hierarchy of faith.
In your interpretation God alone elects us,leads us in sancticification, obedience.

How do you avoid the issue of free will in love, giving and receiving, the desire to
press on or actually give up on the road?

What I am emphasising here is simple.
Without repentance, faith and good works we are lost, empty.
And repentance does not have its work in us if Christs blood does not purify us.

Now ofcourse works are the fruit of salvation, of a pure heart, of worship of Christ
and gratitude for salvation, communion with the living God.

My dilemma is this is a complex subject, I am introducing the interplay between all
4 aspects. And yes you could say without the right verses it could be heresy, and it
could also be the gospel.

How deep do we repent? How many layers of failure, dependence, deception, wrong
focus do we possess? Even Paul had a thorn to stop him getting proud.

I am pointing out a connection that is being challenged and rejected, as if this is a
valid belief in Christ. My take is we always go deeper into Christ, and we never truly
dwell where we could be, it will always be something more to reveal and discover.

That's easy. "Free will" isn't a biblical principle either.

Neither is free wheeling, which you seem to do quite a bit.
