Hi FollowJesus., I was saved in 1982 and was a faithful and active member of our local fundamental Baptist church with my family for over 7yrs. Then taught basically the same later on in the other Baptist church we were members of after we moved. We had Bible studies on the book of Job as well as many of the other books of the Bible and I'm very familiar with how some other Christians see the book of Job. This isn't my first go-around with Bible study or with how to read about Job. :) I'm 59

So I've already seen Job for many years through other lenses besides Paul Ellis. I've come to see as I've matured in the faith that the Bible interprets itself as we read it and seek the truth. When we compare Scripture with Scripture we find God is faithful., The Holy Spirit shows us He is always good all the time. The Bible is the truth built line upon line., precept upon precept. No contradictions. And my conclusion is that Mr. Ellis is closer to the truth than some here and also the way I was first introduced to the book of Job.

I hope you will look into the book of Job prayerfully again and consider that it's more about how gracious and faithful God is than how faithful Job was.

so you have studied job thouroughly for years...and agree with paul ellis assesment here? :) ...ohhh lord, its worse than i thought :p lol totally kidding just tryn to liten the mood ha

okay well thanks for the convo either way, i think we will not find much agreement on the book of Job, hope to find some on some other sun=bject in the future....

The Amazon Bio speaks of him teaching at a prominent Hong Kong business school. The Credentials fit.

The Bio mentions that he is a transplant from western Australia. The credentials fit.

the Bio refers to him as a respected scholar in Asian business. The credentials fit.

I am satisfied it is the same person.

1. The credentials for the "academic Paul Ellis" are very specific and detailed in every possible way.

2. The credentials for the "religious author Paul Ellis" are very vague, nebulous, sketchy, and so vague that nothing said can be verified.

3. Nowhere have we found any specific, verifiable link, that both of these people are the same person.... and there should be many many many links of all varieties.

* Maybe it's the same person, and maybe the credentials all check out fine.

* But just for the record, let's say that just maybe I was pretending to be someone else... this is exactly how I would do it.

There are some ways to get to the bottom of everything.
Maybe I'll do that, and wrap it up in few weeks when I have some free time.

Most likely I'll just relegate further research to the rubbish heap, because regardless of what I find, people here don't listen anyway.

If I found out the guy was a space alien, and had two heads, people would still follow him, lol.

I really don't know why I get into these discussions at all.

#1: Satan needs God’s permission to attack us
I agree, as we can see in the history of Job. Ha-Satan only acted after the Eternal One give permission:

  • "Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought? Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face. And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD." (Job 1.9-12).
  • "And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? and still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause. And Satan answered the LORD, and said, Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life. But put forth thine hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse thee to thy face. And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, he is in thine hand; but save his life. So went Satan forth from the presence of the LORD, and smote Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot unto his crown." (Job 2.3-7).

when someone's 'MO' is constantly being 'drawn' to and 'believing' men' and not being
gifted to understand the Biblical Messages that are specifically given to those whom
are called and gifted to discern Jesus' Holy messages on a 'One on one' basis',
then, the writing is on the wall'...be it as it may, but always remember, although they
are un-teachable at this time of their lives and in bondage to the world, there is always HOPE,
especially through our Love for them, which our Holy Saviour has taught us, not to mention,
our understanding of just where they are coming from through Spiritual discernment:
it's all about how Christ has or is teaching tolerance and Love and growth for us in our Holy journey...

Excellent reminder, and after a person is born again, iyov (job) account only shows us the measure of guile and vitriol the enemies have for believers.
And as believers in the Holy One of Yisrayl Yeshua (jesus, we have been instructed to remain vigilant. And this thread is an example of how there are false teachers running around, especially over the internet.

I've had a fair amount of experience in rebuking the luciferian filth that have blasphemed the Holy Spirit just as this pseudonym character calling themselves Paul Ellis.

Nothing more than a servant of the beast.
Rejecting the Holy Spirit is not the same as being misled: it's becoming full of violence, no room for the Love of God.
Jesus said that Rejecting the Holy Spirit is the only sin that cant be forgiven and He said that if we don't forgive we are not forgiven. If you do the math you find out it ads up to one sin, "If I understand mysteries and have not Love I am nothing."
Again if a person doesn't understand mysteries and has Love, and forgives his enemies, He is forgiven. Not referring to forgiven for not understanding mysteries referring to the shortcoming in Love: We don't know God in our understanding, "Knowledge puffs up but Love builds up.

I have no use for Ellis's teaching. I know that Amazon and Goodreads are both quite careful when they do Bios and They would check things out before publishing possible falsehoods. Ellis has enough wrong with his teaching that it is not necessary to make issues where they do not exist. there is sufficient error to challenge him on without that.

It sais he needed permission because there was a hedge of protection around Job: The enemy can't attack those who are walking in the light they have.
About the protection of walking in the light we have.
"Let no one turn you away from the simplicity of Christ."
Jesus stopped in the middle of the sentence many times:
As if what He said was not important to those who did search for God with all their heart:
"Have you not read "Out of the mouth of babes you have perfected praise,"
From old testament writhing:
"Out of the mouth of babes you have ordained strength, to still the enemy and avenger."
"The joy of the Lord is our strength." Living for the praise of God: the enemy is paralyzed.
Jesus made a statement to His followers, "Nothing shall by any means harm you."
Experiencing symptoms we recover but until we are invested in the truth with out whole heart, it may not be so; but to those who believe, dying daily to our selfish nature does not harm us and leaving the body is without experiencing death. "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord."
Job was not harmed.

Ellis has a doctorate, but not in christian theology, or anything religious.

A doctorate in philosophy doesn't make a man a theologian.

Teaching business & marketing doesn't make a man a Bible teacher.

Putting "Doctor" beside his name as a Christian writer is misleading.

It's like applying for a pastorship saying he's a Christian college graduate when all he has is a Bachelor of Arts degree.

And for that, he's a fraud.

thats really what matters with anyone that is presuming to be a teacher of doctrine...what are they teaching? can you find the same message consistantly in scripture? does it lead you to acting in righteousness? does it ommit important parts of doctrine...ect

#2: God uses Satan as a sheepdog to keep the sheep in line
I agree. After all:

  • "Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour? What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction: and that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory, even us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?" (Rom 9.21-24).

Even Nebuchadrezzar, a heathen king, was call servant by the Eternal One:

  • "And now have I given all these lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant; and the beasts of the field have I given him also to serve him." (Jer 27.6).
  • "Son of man, Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon caused his army to serve a great service against Tyrus: every head was made bald, and every shoulder was peeled: yet had he no wages, nor his army, for Tyrus, for the service that he had served against it: therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will give the land of Egypt unto Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon; and he shall take her multitude, and take her spoil, and take her prey; and it shall be the wages for his army.

#1: Satan needs God’s permission to attack us

Satan didn’t ask for permission to go after Job because he didn’t need permission. In the Garden of Eden we opened the door to sin and have been reaping the consequences ever since.
The good news is it doesn’t have to be this way. By the grace of God the devil flees when we resist him (James 4:7). Don’t be like Job and let the thief plunder your house. Be like David who encouraged himself in the Lord and fought back (1 Sam 30:6).

#2: God uses Satan as a sheepdog to keep the sheep in line

Woof! What nonsense. What fellowship does light have with darkness (2 Cor 6:14)?

#3: God gives us sickness and suffering to teach us character

Satan’s aim was to trick God into harming Job, something that God would never do. Although Job thought God was responsible for his loss, God sent Elihu to set him straight. Elihu is a picture of Jesus who went around “healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him” (Acts 10:38). Jesus doesn’t give sickness; he takes it from us.

#4: God “allows” sickness and suffering to afflict us

God does not work for the devil. If God gave the thief permission to rob you, he wouldn’t be a thief.
First Adam lost control of the planet, but last Adam took back what the devil stole. In Christ you are destined to reign like a king (Rom 5:17). But you won’t reign if you heed the lies above and follow Job instead of Jesus.
Grace and peace to you.

Thank you Dr. Paul Ellis
The Lord our God can destroy us if he so desires, he can destroy or he can mend. Sometimes he must destroy to purge wickedness, sometimes he will heal when ones heart is right with him.

If you follow apostate teachings you will make a shipwreck of you faith.

You noticed FiSnookman., me too. Never had people investigate me so much
or presume about me so much as those here do. I wish they would investigate for the sake of seeking something to find we share common and not to separate and find fault about. We can easily do that can't we?

We can always find something wrong about what others believe or how they share their faith or even how they live their lives. It takes no spiritual fortitude to be a fault finder but it takes Christ in us to be working at the ministry of reconciliation.

Hi Finaldesire., This is where the major differences are I believe with many Christians. I know now and believe the truth that because of Jesus and His gift of salvation to us... God is never going to "destroy" me nor will He ever have a desire to destroy me. Or any of us.

He sent Jesus just so we do not have to be judged and destroyed. And He has recorded all through the Bible about His steadfast love and grace for us because of Jesus. Why not believe Him and rest and even bask in His love every day of our lives??
In Hebrews He gives us an iron clad promise and even an oath! We have a sure foundation and a Anchor for our souls!

Why do you and so many here visiting this thread think He would destroy us after all He has done to show us otherwise?? Jesus is the way we have already been "purged" and made righteous in Him. Now we are new creations.. old things have passed away behold all things have become new. There is no more condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus.

8 Therefore, [there is] now no condemnation (no adjudging guilty of wrong) for those who are in Christ Jesus,
[SUP]2 [/SUP]For the law of the Spirit of life [which is] in Christ Jesus [the law of our new being] has freed me from the law of sin and of death.

The problem with many Christians today is they don't have this wonderful knowledge and because of that they are slowly dying. The Bible says my people die for lack of knowledge. The Gospel is the good news! Not the bad news.

Just calling to day to say here on this thread that Jesus has made our way clear.., now we simply follow Him through life. We have a new and living way to live. Set free from the law of sin and death and now able to walk in the power of the Holy Spirit.

I don't think that is a completely fair summation brother.

Joanie knows that I love her as a sister in Christ, but I believe she has gone waaay off the rails with the health and prosperity doctrines, and some of the takes on Job are quite frankly bizarre and beyond a stretch.

Having said that, as frustrating as we may become on an issue, I will say Joanie always responds in a cordial, nonhurtful way, even when others have not. This is a huge credit to her, and I think helps her position as wrong as I think that position is.
