Galatians 5: 1 In the freedom, then, with which Christ did make you free -- stand ye, and be not held fast again by a yoke of servitude;

2 lo, I Paul do say to you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing;

3 and I testify again to every man circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law;

4 ye were freed from the Christ, ye who in law are declared righteous; from the grace ye fell away;

5 for we by the Spirit, by faith, a hope of righteousness do wait for,

6 for in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth anything, nor uncircumcision, but faith through love working.

7 Ye were running well; who did hinder you -- not to obey the truth?

8 the obedience [is] not of him who is calling you!

9 a little leaven the whole lump doth leaven;

10 I have confidence in regard to you in the Lord, that ye will be none otherwise minded; and he who is troubling you shall bear the judgment, whoever he may be.

11 And I, brethren, if uncircumcision I yet preach, why yet am I persecuted? then hath the stumbling-block of the cross been done away;

12 O that even they would cut themselves off who are unsettling you!

13 For ye -- to freedom ye were called, brethren, only not the freedom for an occasion to the flesh, but through the love serve ye one another,

14 for all the law in one word is fulfilled -- in this: `Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself;'

15 and if one another ye do bite and devour, see -- that ye may not by one another be consumed.

16 And I say: In the Spirit walk ye, and the desire of the flesh ye may not complete;

17 for the flesh doth desire contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit contrary to the flesh, and these are opposed one to another, that the things that ye may will -- these ye may not do;

18 and if by the Spirit ye are led, ye are not under law.

19 And manifest also are the works of the flesh, which are: Adultery, whoredom, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

20 idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, strifes, emulations, wraths, rivalries, dissensions, sects,

21 envyings, murders, drunkennesses, revellings, and such like, of which I tell you before, as I also said before, that those doing such things the reign of God shall not inherit.

( It is only through Christ Jesus, that we enter the heavenly Jerusalem and be citizens of a heavenly kingdom ruled, and taken care of by God, and His Son Jesus Christ. )

22 And the fruit of the Spirit is: Love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith,

23 meekness, temperance: against such there is no law;

24 and those who are Christ's, the flesh did crucify with the affections, and the desires;

25 if we may live in the Spirit, in the Spirit also we may walk;

26 let us not become vain-glorious -- one another provoking, one another envying!

Is there a lot we can learn from here in this chapter?

I love 5:22-24
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.24 And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

Of course. One of the primary lessons is that Christian liberty is not a license to sin.

The liberty we have in Christ is freedom from sin, not to sin :)

Galatians 5: 1 In the freedom, then, with which Christ did make you free -- stand ye, and be not held fast again by a yoke of servitude;

Verse 1 - Christ Jesus makes us free, and we are told to stand fast in this freedom, and not to be yoked in that with bondage.

2 lo, I Paul do say to you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing;
3 and I testify again to every man circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law;
4 ye were freed from the Christ, ye who in law are declared righteous; from the grace ye fell away;

Verses 2 - 3 - Talk about the Law, and being circumcised, it doesn't profit anything.
Verse 4 - Christ Jesus makes us free from the Law; Those who think they are declared righteous by what they do, and not by what the Lord Jesus Christ has done, has fallen from grace.

5 for we by the Spirit, by faith, a hope of righteousness do wait for,
6 for in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth anything, nor uncircumcision, but faith through love working.

Verse 5 - We by the spirit by faith, have a hope righteousness, do wait for,
Verse 6 - In Christ Jesus neither circumcision, or uncircumcision; Because they had to do with the law, these did not matter but only faith/belief through love working through us by having faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, having freedom, by the grace of God.

7 Ye were running well; who did hinder you -- not to obey the truth?
8 the obedience [is] not of him who is calling you!
9 a little leaven the whole lump doth leaven;

Verses 7 - 9 - Is telling the Galatians, to stop going back to the Law, and falling from Grace, and to Trust in the Gospel of Christ, that makes us free, and not in bondage with the law and doing this and that, but by the spirit of the Lord, the Holy Spirit.

10 I have confidence in regard to you in the Lord, that ye will be none otherwise minded; and he who is troubling you shall bear the judgment, whoever he may be.
11 And I, brethren, if uncircumcision I yet preach, why yet am I persecuted? then hath the stumbling-block of the cross been done away;
12 O that even they would cut themselves off who are unsettling you!

Verses 10 - Anyone who is troubling you about obeying the law, and is troubling you by badgering you about it, shall bear the judgement whoever he may be.

Verses 11-12, I am not really sure.

Verses 13-14 - Paul tells the Galatians, that you were called to freedom, and not only freedom for an occasion with the flesh from time to time, but you are called to have freedom to love, and serve on another, for all the law is fulfilled, when you love your neighbor as yourself.

Verse 15 - Warns us that if we bite and argue you and cause discord with each other, we can eat each other alive by our flesh, also being legalistic about things.

16 And I say: In the Spirit walk ye, and the desire of the flesh ye may not complete;

Verse 16 - If you walk by the spirit, thinking about heavenly things, the flesh and the desire and thoughts that we have, slide away.

17 for the flesh doth desire contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit contrary to the flesh, and these are opposed one to another, that the things that ye may will -- these ye may not do;

Verse 17 - The flesh and the spirit are contrary to each other, and oppose one to another so we struggle with our flesh, and our spirit daily, that the things we may will do, that we may not do?

18 and if by the Spirit ye are led, ye are not under law.

Verse 18 - Walking by the spirit there is no law.

( It is only through Christ Jesus, that we enter the heavenly Jerusalem and be citizens of a heavenly kingdom ruled, and taken care of by God, and His Son Jesus Christ. )

Verse 19-21: These are all sins, that humans have committed and everyone has fallen short of the glory of God whom is His Son the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. That the Lord Jesus Christ forgives, and all we have to do is believe, in a change of mind (repentance).

22 And the fruit of the Spirit is: Love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith,
23 meekness, temperance: against such there is no law;

When we turn to God, and the Lord Jesus Christ and knowing the wonders of them, we can understand, these fruits of the spirit are produced in a persons life, over time and slowly, in God's own timing. God replaces our hearts, and our desires the more we seek and look towards Him, and He loves every one, every person.

24 and those who are Christ's, the flesh did crucify with the affections, and the desires;
25 if we may live in the Spirit, in the Spirit also we may walk;
26 let us not become vain-glorious -- one another provoking, one another envying!

Verse 24-26
The flesh be handled by self control in Christ Jesus and changing over time by His grace, who believe in Him, that we have the spirit, and walk by the spirit, and not become vain, or provoking, or envying anyone.

34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.
35 And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.
36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

Letting Christ, the Spirit, the Faith work through us is the freedom and the premise of Galatians.
Galatians has 6 chapters. Follow along please.

Jesus Christ, Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:

To reveal his Son in us, that we might preach him among the heathen; that they glorify God in us.

Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed into Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

We are crucified with Christ: nevertheless we live; yet not us, but Christ liveth in us: and the life which we now live in the flesh we live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved us, and gave himself for us.

This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?The Faith which we now live through Christ that is of Christ.

Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?

But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.The Faith which we now live through Christ that is of Christ.

But before faith came, (The Faith which we now live through Christ that is of Christ) we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.(The Faith which we now live through Christ that is of Christ) But after that faith (The Faith which we now live through Christ that is of Christ) is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. For ye are all the children of God by faith (The Faith which we now live through Christ that is of Christ) in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ (even we have believed into Jesus Christ). There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.

My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you, (The Faith which we now live through Christ that is of Christ)

For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith (The Faith which we now live through Christ that is of Christ). For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith (The Faith which we now live through Christ that is of Christ) which worketh by love.

For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, (The Faith which we now live through Christ that is of Christ) and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. (The Faith which we now live through Christ that is of Christ)

Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual (of the Faith which we now live through Christ that is of Christ) , restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. (The Faith which we now live through Christ that is of Christ)

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit (The Faith which we now live through Christ that is of Christ) shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

But God forbid that we should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto us, and we unto the world. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature. (of the Faith which we now live through Christ that is of Christ) For We are crucified with Christ: nevertheless we live; yet not us, but Christ liveth in us: and the life which we now live in the flesh we live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved us, and gave himself for us.

Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart. And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward: Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;

For the LORD our GOD will circumcise our hearts and the hearts of our seed. For righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ (GOD's commands and statutes written in the Book of the Law. In other words the Word; the Divine utterances. The Word manifested in the flesh; Christ) down from above:) Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ (GOD's commands and statutes written in the Book of the Law. In other words the Word; the Divine utterances. The Word manifested in the flesh; Christ) again from the dead.) But what saith it? The Word (GOD's commands and statutes written in the Book of the Law; the Divine utterances; Christ, the Word manifested in the flesh manifested in our flesh) is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart and in thy hand: (that thou mayest do it) that is, the word of faith, which we preach. And that my friend is the GOSPEL. Christ in us the hope of Glory; GOD!

(Gal 1:4,16,24;2:20,16 3:2-3,11,23-28; 4:4-6,19;5:5-6, 14, 16-21,24-25, 6:1-2, 7-8,14-15; 2Co 3:3-5; Rom.10:6-8; Deut 30:6,10-14)

I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that by my voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue. 1 Cor 14:19

Truth shall set you free.

Its Paul expounding on what the Lord Jesus Christ has shown him, and us, and what the Lord has told us in His Word.

Matthew 11:28-30
[SUP]28 [/SUP]Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
[SUP]29 [/SUP]Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
[SUP]30 [/SUP]For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

There is the Lord Jesus Christ offering rest from your work and understanding at being righteous and without sin before God.

Galatians 5:4-6
[SUP]4 [/SUP]Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.
[SUP]5 [/SUP]For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.
[SUP]6 [/SUP]For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.

There is Paul telling us that we either get rest in Christ or we get to go back to our understanding of law and our work at making ourselves righteous. But if we go back we have fallen from Christ's Grace. I don't know how people who have known Christ and His Rest can go back to their own work and understanding of the law. It doesn't seem wise.

Galatians 3:2-3
[SUP]2 [/SUP]This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
[SUP]3 [/SUP]Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?
