There is a gift of Prophecy mentioned by Paul. It is used to minister to individuals at a local church level and there are examples of it in the NT. This IS NOT on the same level or in the same league as the Biblical prophets the last being John the baptist. There seems to be confusion in some minds between the two types of prophecy. Anyone who claims to be a Prophet in the same league as Isaiah, Jeremiah or any of the biblical prophets is a false one.

In the case of Ellen White I am not sure whether she claimed to be a prophet or whether her followers claimed it on her behalf'I have read that many of her writings were complete rubbish and they are hidden away from public view. Only those considered readable are published by the SDA
Testimonies Never Contradict the Bible—The Bible must be your counselor. Study it and the testimonies God has given; for they never contradict his Word.—Letter 106, 1907.
If the Testimonies speak not according to the word of God, reject them. Christ and Belial cannot be united.—Testimonies for the Church 5:691.

Elen G white was a confused woman seeking attention in an inappropriate way. In the late 1960s and early 1970s young women who were hippies sought attention by wearing sheer clothing and absent underwear. The only difference I see between them and E G White is that they were more honest about what they were doing and they caused much less harm.

She is the primary prophetess of the Seventh Day Adventists. She had some things right and many things wrong in her teachings. So essentially a false prophetess.
Interesting, very interesting.

What you have posted here, below, is rebuked by the Holy Spirit and by the Word.

The written Word does not come to Life without the Presence of the Holy Spirit teaching the reader....

Ellen White Calls Her Writings a Lesser Light—Little heed is given to the Bible, and the Lord has given a lesser light to lead men and women to the greater light.—The Review and Herald, January 20, 1903 (Quoted in Colporteur Ministry, 125.).
Tested by the Bible—The Spirit was not given—nor can it ever be bestowed—to supersede the Bible; for the Scriptures explicitly state that the Word of God is the standard by which all teaching and experience must be tested.… Isaiah declares, “To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them” (Isaiah 8:20).—The Great Controversy, Introduction, p. vii.

Ellen White is definitely a false prophet.

E.G. White prophesied the world would end in 1843, 1844, 1845 and 1851 : "Now time is almost finished, (1851) and what we have been 6 years in learning they will have to learn in months." (Early Writings, p.57).

She also had revelations about keeping the Saturday Sabbath, and not eating meat. Now, that might be a good thing for some people, but not others.

My next door neighbour is a 7th Day Adventist, and she is beyond legalistic. I think some or even most 7th day Adventists are saved, because they are orthodox in what they believe about Christ, and that he died on the cross to redeem us for our sins. But, White is just another failed Millerite, prophecying the end, wrongly, that did not happen.

I don’t know how people can follow a teacher who is so wrong about something so important. And apparently she blamed her followers, would not admit she was wrong.

White blames her failed prophecy on the members of the Seventh-day Adventist church: "Thus the work was hindered, and the world was left in darkness. Had the whole Adventist body united upon the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus, how widely different would have been our history." (Selected Messages, Book 1, p.299).
Just bizarre to follow someone like this! But then, we see people today following false prophets, too, don’t we?

The first quote that you put up from early writings is a false quotation and is not even found in the book don’t believe everything you read on the Internet unless you read it for yourself from the book

There are meany that had the gift of prophecy in the church. In fact Act 13:1 Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.

Paul him self says this too....

1Co 14:1 Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy.
