Ellen White Calls Her Writings a Lesser Light—Little heed is given to the Bible, and the Lord has given a lesser light to lead men and women to the greater light.—The Review and Herald, January 20, 1903 (Quoted in Colporteur Ministry, 125.).
Tested by the Bible—The Spirit was not given—nor can it ever be bestowed—to supersede the Bible; for the Scriptures explicitly state that the Word of God is the standard by which all teaching and experience must be tested.… Isaiah declares, “To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them” (Isaiah 8:20).—The Great Controversy, Introduction, p. vii.

This standard would also then disqualify Catholics, And Baptists, AOG, Mormons, JW, Lutheran. In fact, if this post was applied to every religious franchise in the World that "comes in Jesus Name", they all would be considered no different than the Pharisees which also "transgressed the commandments of God by their own religious traditions."

That would explain why Jesus pleads with us in Rev to "Come out of her". And also why He declared "Where two or more are gathered in His Name".

Like Jesus said: "If they don't believe Moses and the Prophets, neither will they believe though One rose from the dead".

I couldn't agree more.

Not for the Purpose of Giving New Light—Brother J would confuse the mind by seeking to make it appear that the light God has given through the Testimonies is an addition to the Word of God, but in this he presents the matter in a false light. God has seen fit in this manner to bring the minds of his people to his Word, to give them a clearer understanding of it.
The Word of God is sufficient to enlighten the most beclouded mind, and may be understood by those who have any desire to understand it. But notwithstanding all this, some who profess to make the Word of God their study are found living in direct opposition to its plainest teachings. Then, to leave men and women without excuse, God gives plain and pointed testimonies, bringing them back to the Word that they have neglected to follow.
The Word of God abounds in general principles for the formation of correct habits of living, and the testimonies, general and personal, have been calculated to call their attention more especially to these principles.—Testimonies for the Church 5:663, 664.

I guess that is why the end hasn't come, when all the gospels these denominations preach is other than the gospel of the Lord.

Matthew 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

Ellen White is not a biblical prophet.

Christ came to seek and to save men who were lost in sin. Christ is the word of God made in the likeness of human flesh.

Gospel of John chapter one.

Isn't it written that Abraham say that?

Ellen White Calls Her Writings a Lesser Light—Little heed is given to the Bible, and the Lord has given a lesser light to lead men and women to the greater light.—The Review and Herald, January 20, 1903 (Quoted in Colporteur Ministry, 125.).
Since the eternal God is invisible Light, and the LORD who is the image of the invisible Light, who only hath immortality dwelling in the Light that no man can approach, that no man has seen nor can see.

For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
Col 1:16-17

I wouldn't be to quick to discount her testimony.

Did you receive the word of God by believing or did you believe the word of God by receiving?

For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.
1 Thess 2:13

I think the OP must be referring to Ellen G. White of the Seventh Day Adventist sect.

who is Ellen White?
She is the primary prophetess of the Seventh Day Adventists. She had some things right and many things wrong in her teachings. So essentially a false prophetess.

Indeed Nehemiah6, I had a list of things that I was going through in my old wordproccesor; they were points made in "The Great Controversy" that I found to be in error. It was titled "Why I am not a Seventh Day Adventist."

I need to get my old hard drives and get a couple things off that I thought I had backed up, but didn't.

To be clearer, scripture states that scripture, while useful, is not needed or required.

19For what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them.
20For since the creation of the world
God’s invisible qualities, His eternal power and divine nature,
have been clearly seen, being understood

from His workmanship,

so that men are without excuse.

The human brain is always searching for patterns, even in names.

Viktor Frankl was an Austrian neurologist and psychiatrist as well as a Holocaust survivor.

There is a gift of Prophecy mentioned by Paul. It is used to minister to individuals at a local church level and there are examples of it in the NT. This IS NOT on the same level or in the same league as the Biblical prophets the last being John the baptist. There seems to be confusion in some minds between the two types of prophecy. Anyone who claims to be a Prophet in the same league as Isaiah, Jeremiah or any of the biblical prophets is a false one.

In the case of Ellen White I am not sure whether she claimed to be a prophet or whether her followers claimed it on her behalf'I have read that many of her writings were complete rubbish and they are hidden away from public view. Only those considered readable are published by the SDA
