Spiritual or personal application is not doctrine. Doctrine is specific instructions from God to obey.
When reading Scripture ask yourself:

To whom is this passage written to and to whom does this doctrine apply?

Do what?

Man, whatever.

Doctrine is truth, The flood is truth, do you obey the flood?

The flood has doctrinal application for all of us to follow.

Yep. And learn the problems in james as well.. Do not just ignore it because it was written to the people James loved. And say it has no application to the church. It does. Every word of it. Just like every word of genesis does.

Stop with the did I build an ark stuff. The ark has much application to my life and trusting God.
Not to mention ALL of the applicable lessons from the ark and Noah's life that are still teaching people....Hebrews, Peter and JESUS all use Noah and his ark to teach the Lord's churches truth......

When reading Scripture ask yourself:

To whom is this passage written to and to whom does this doctrine apply?
Then ask yourself. God, what can I learn from this message, you put this in the word of God for me to see so you must have a reason for me to see it. SHow me what that application is.

God put all words in scripture for a reason. He wants us to learn something. We would be good children who Love God if we do nto tear up his love letter to us by saying it does not apply to me so it is meaningless.

Our father put it there for us to learn.

There are applications to be had in the book of James, yes, but doctrinally it is written to the twelve tribes of Israel, not Jewish believers.

The book of James is not addressed to the body of Christ.
Tribes, represent gates that describe the bride of Christ coming down from heaven as a new creation.

Not all Israel are born again believers.Only the ones that have the Spirit of Christ ,the incorruptible Spirit of Christ the Holy Spirit of God in them . Scriptures says a if any man has not the Spirit of Christ ...then neither do they belong to Him. In the same way not all Jews are a Jew inward born of the Spirit of Christ some are as the gentiles of the flesh.

Romans 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

The Spirit of Christ in Chapter two warns those not to have the Spirit of Christ in respect to men seen.... in verse 7 the conclusion is they blaspheme the holy name by which all are called heavenward.. The warning is to the believers his bride the church..

Jam 2:1 My brethren, have not the
faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons.

Jam 2:7 Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called?

James ie filled with the inspired word of God.... from the first jot till the last tittle.

Those outside of the church are not interested in spiritual matters pertaining to scripture

It really does not matter whether the primary audience were Hebrew Christians. Everything within the epistle of James is for all Christians for all times. In fact, it is full of excellent practical Christian teaching. Not sure where you are getting these strange ideas about snipping out parts of the New Testament. There are some out there who would like to see all of Paul's epistles trashed. How could James be writing to unsaved Jews who had nothing but contempt for Christ and Christians, and yet he called himself the servant of the Lord Jesus Christ? Do you see how absurd your idea is?

The twelve tribes were scattered way before Jesus was born in Bethlehem....just do a little research into Old testament history...the two divided nations of "Israel" and "Judah" after the death of Solomon..,,then how the nation of Israel was defeated and scattered..,then how Jeruselaum fell and the first temple built by Solomon was destroyed and it's people scattered.

Some came back when the walls were built but many stayed scattered.

It's bed time but can pull up websites if you like and someone else hasn't already.

Or how about the following:
14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

The prayers of elders shall, not might, but shall saved the sick.
Is sin a spiritual or physical illness?

When we become born again, is it in the Spirit or the physical body?

They were given to gentiles to. Peter witnessed it.. Any time God was going to change up something, huge used miracles. Look at moses and pharaoh, many mighty miracles. The early church and jesus life was not the first time this happened.
They were only given to Gentiles in that instance because Jews were present. It was a sign to the Jews that the Gentiles were co-heirs of His grace.

By the time James was inspired to reveal the thoughts of God. The idea we as the bride of Christ are not known of the flesh, was well known.

James was not glorying in flesh that was used in types and shadows until the time of reformation. We know Christ after the unseen spiritual seed. No hope in the corrupted flesh which Christ said of his own it profits for nothing.

Romans 9:8 That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.

The number 12 signifies the whole of God’s perfection of government or rule.

The twelve tribes of Israel with the tribe of Dan missing is simply another way of saying. “He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches” Anything more is to miss the mark. God is no respecter of persons if he is speaking to a Jew it a Jew who is one inwardly of the Spirit of Christ, glorying in the flesh of any nation I would think would send up a red flag.

Tribes are used as gates to describe the bride of Christ just as apostles are used as walls to represent the same bride of Christ. There would be no reason to separate the use of the twelve gates from the twelve walls. It’s all one new creation made up of saints on both sides of the cross together represented by the number not according to the measure of man but the number God assigns as a unknown (144,000) it represents His wife the chaste virgin bride the church..Saints on both side of the cross.

James wrote a letter to his people. Is this so hard to understand? Is this a bad thing to do? why do people want to fight this, and try to make some symbol out of it? This is not a prophetic utterance when a symbol was used to show a literal person or event (ie daniels beasts) it is not a Parable, where God uses symbols to bring a literal spiritual truth to our knowledge.

It is a letter. addressed to a select group of people. I realize we do not do much with mail anymore, and writing letters and mailing them is a lost art since the advent of email and chat and smart phones.

We have the writer (James)

We have the address (12 tribes scattered)

is this so hard?

If James wanted it to be called the church, he would have called it the church. He did not. He did not symbolize his audience, he directly addressed them (the churhc was never scattered, the church was never addressed as scattered, the Church was not scattered because of their punishment, Israel (Jacob and his 12 sons) were.

Can you see the importance of the book of James to the twelve tribes when they are scattered in the tribulation? It has great doctrinal significance to this time period for Israel. Read it through this lens and you will see.

James tells his audience, the twelve tribes, to look to Job for patience.

7 Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain. The coming of the Lord is pointing to the Second Advent of Christ where the King shows up AFTER the rainstorm(Hosea 6:3). The precious fruit of the earth is the Jewish "firstfruits to the Lamb" right at the end of the tribulation(Rev. 14:4). The Lord has been long patient with Israel.
8 Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh. The is the Second Advent of Christ. James says it is near, literally.
9 Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door. The Judge, Jesus Christ is standing at the door, ready to open the door and return as Judge of the earth.
10 Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience.
11 Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy. Why Job? Job's 42 chapters has long been a picture of the 42 months of great tribulation. Israel will lose everything and must endure to the end. Those who endure to the end of the tribulation will be given greater things than the beginning, and will be ushered into the Millennial reign of Christ.
17 Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. Why Elias? Elias will be brought back as one of the two witnesses before the earth proclaiming the coming of the Lord. Elijah will us a 3 1/2 year drought as a sign
18 And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.

I see importance to myself and the people I disciple. and the people I love every day. We should all take head to the words of james, because it applies to us all.

I'm not going to be in the tribulation. The Judge, Jesus Christ is not standing at the door currently. Paul says He is seated at the right hand of the Father making intercession for us. When will Jesus literally be standing at the door ready to judge? At the end of the tribulation. It's seeing God's big picture.
