Nahhh, this isn't the how-many-angels-fit-on-the-head-of-pin question.

This is a the-devil-made-me-do-it question. Demons get blamed for every sin we do. It seems to me that, if that is true, at least one demon must follow a person -- all people -- for there whole lives. And there are 7.6 billion people in the world today, with the population growing exponentially now, so I'm just covering how many demons will be needed before 2020.

As far as I know, (and we really don't have very much info on demons -- nor angels), demons don't grow up, get married, have babies and raise the babies to become productive demons, so do we really each have a demon following us around? How many are there to do that?

Or.... can we take on the responsibility that the-devil-did-not-make-me-do-that?

Lynn, I'm so with you.

A bad trial hits us - and we just know we are under attack from the devil. Never considering that the Lord is setting up this trial in order to test/strengthen our faith, or to teach us, or even to show His power and reveal Himself through it.

We do sinful things - and we blame the devil. Never considering that we are born sinful, our flesh wants satisfaction, and we begin to choose the wrong things or actions to gain that satisfaction. Never considering that "out of the heart comes evil thoughts" Matt. 15:19 - Jesus. Further on in the scriptures we are told that from our hearts come murderous thoughts, greed, etc.

To blame the devil all time really gives him glory - he must love that. And to blame the devil takes us out of any responsible role we must play, such as self denial or even accepting of the trial in order to be in a place to see how God will reveal Himself, and what we might be learning. To discern how the trial might even be for someone else in our lives.

This is not a denial of the devil being behind many things, but how do we really know? We should never assume - we if we are assume anything, give credit to God. That is why we are told to "count if joy" when we are faced with trials. And if we fall into sin, we need to look into ourselves for what triggered it - and ask the Lord not only for forgiveness, but also to heal the need we have to do that act. Then we just say NO. We all have the power to do that. Sure it might hurt for awhile, but the Lord will stand by and strengthen us.

The devil is always waiting for you to step away from God and be available.

1 Peter 5:8
Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

1 John 3:8
Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.

John 8:44
You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and has nothing to do with the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

James 4:7
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

There are 1/3 number of stars in the sky.....so a lot.

However I get the feeling that isn't really the topic of conversation.

Why do folks blame demons instead of taking responsibility?

Adam and Eve didn't own up to their sin....so maybe it's part of being a sinner?

If we repent, we might actually be changed?

Can demons posses babies? I don't see why not, it's all fair game when it comes to the Devil. Like him and his demons care how old a human is.

I’ll come and plant 20 around yer house. ;) :D :)
Good luck. The four sides of my house are...
City sidewalk as front yard.
Neighbor's houses as side yards. (We call them rowhomes, but everyone else calls them town houses.)
Cement as back yard.

(Actually, I have a lilac bush in a planter on the front sidewalk and a blackberry in a planter in my backyard, so I am holder of the two bushes on our block. lol)

Really? (as in the "I didn't know that" really, since a friend tells me she ducks whenever I start a post with "Really?" lol)

Somewhere in scripture it says there are as many angels as stars? (And, you don't have to look it up to prove it, just surprised you know.)

Cool! That is a lot! Maybe. Maybe we all do get stuck with one. I really (and there is that word again) feel like something pulls me away from studying the Bible and praying every single time I open eSword. Considering I look forward to that moment, why is it also the exact moment I got to wondering how many demons there were in this world? Or, that I need to thaw out dinner. Or I should be...

It does feel like it's not always me, however, it is always me when I listen to it.

I’ll bring a jackhammer, fresh soil, and cow manure. Instant bushes...and demons. :) :D

Have a look at Gal 5v16-26 (especially v19-21) and you’ll find the real answer...

Revelation 12 we have Stars representing Angels and it says a third of them was tossed out of Heaven for siding with Satan.

some say that the star that lead the wiseman to Baby Jesus might really have been an angel.

also it says that when we get our glorified body it will be different and tells us how the glory of star bodies are different.

1 Corinthians 15
40 There are also bodies in the heavens and bodies on the earth. The glory of the heavenly bodies is different from the glory of the earthly bodies. 41 The sun has one kind of glory, while the moon and stars each have another kind. And even the stars differ from each other in their glory.

Revelation 12
3 And another sign appeared in heaven: behold, a great red dragon, with seven heads and ten horns, and on his heads seven diadems. 4 His tail swept down a third of the stars of heaven and cast them to the earth.

******

7 Now war arose in heaven, Michael and his angels fighting against the dragon. And the dragon and his angels fought back, 8 but he was defeated, and there was no longer any place for them in heaven. 9 And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world—he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.
40 There are also bodies in the heavens and bodies on the earth. The glory of the heavenly bodies is different from the glory of the earthly bodies. 41 The sun has one kind of glory, while the moon and stars each have another kind. Jesus Christ has defeated demons a long time ago, just like satan.
