I think my time here is up.
I find myself in a battle the Holy Spirit did not orchestrate.
I broke my own rule of Concept to concept.
Mods please delete my account.

Please reconsider as losing a quality member is like a death in the family.

Perhaps you could take a breather for a few days, pray about it then come back if you feel OK in your spirit about it?

I'm always puzzled by this kind of thing.

For one, surely it's not difficult to logout and simply not ever log in again? So why people make a point of starting a thread to announce that they don't want to talk to anyone anymore escapes me. Not exactly the most efficient way to contact a mod, either. But it's really common thing for people to do.

Second, what's happened? One or two people vocally disagree with a person on one or two points, so their reaction is abandon the whole community? Doesn't seem logical to me, but again, seemingly quite common.

Or a person comes here imagining themselves to be a great teacher and full of profound, unassailable thoughts. They meet criticism and aren't universally hailed and celebrated, so they make a show of wiping the dust off their feet and publicly announce their departure. This doesn't make sense to me either, if you're sure of your convictions can't they stand up to dissection? That's what a discussion board does. Or if you're really a deep and critical thinker, why wouldn't you welcome critique and challenges to your views? But this is very common too.

I don't know which if any of these brief descriptions OP falls under. None of them make sense to me.

I guess people expect the experience of chatting with Christians from all over the world and from all kinds of backgrounds and viewpoints to be something quite different than what it is.

"iron sharpens iron" doesn't mean one piece of iron all by itself sharpens itself. And sparks fly.

*shrug*
humans are weird.

Have a nice life heartofdavid - thanks for the time you shared.

Remember you're stuck with us for all eternity, if you're saved, so don't think you're actually escaping. Temporary departure is the best you can manage this way, dude.

I like to call it an "empathy thread." Big difference between sympathy and empathy.

Empathy - needs encouragement, valuable to the "TEAM," needs to STAY.

Sympathy - needs condolences, and a "good-bye hug."

There will always be a battle, and Satan is behind the conflict. But we are to fight the good fight of faith.

posthuman, I was asking my son about iron sharpening iron since metallurgy is his area of doctoral research. He told me some very interesting things about sharpening, while the sparks may fly, there is a lot more there that is happening, and something for us to remember as believers...

[1] there is a necessary and deliberate friction which occurs between the objects that is very carefully engineered so as to be constructive and not destructive

[2] the blade being sharpened must be angled very carefully in the procedure and submitted to the process

[3] the process requires strokes that are precise in order to not damage the blade, with very small improvements with each stroke

Each step in the process has a purpose :D

JESUS CHRIST IS LORD - THE ONLY SAVIOR - THE ONLY WAY OF SALVATION - THE LAMB OF GOD - THE SON OF GOD - HE IS RETURNING TO THE EARTH SOMETIME AT THE MOUNT OF OLIVES!

Everything else is up for debate. :)

So, if those are rough edges, see if you can knock them off, or perhaps, they're smoooooooooth and we can find some other rough edges elsewhere. :)
