Yes when one is Spirit-filled then we have the authority
to go out and preach the full gospel of salvation;
to baptise converts by full immersion;
to lay hands on the sick for their healing;
to pray for others to also receive the indwelling Holy Spirit

Amen., yes we do. Adam lost it for him and us.., but Jesus the Last Adam regained the authority God gave man AND.,,, then not only THAT but Jesus made us new creations IN Him and tells us to walk by faith and not by sight (our calling) and hold the ground He won over for us. :)

What if your carrot cake had some poison in it you weren't aware of? Do you have the authority to make it clean or healthy to eat?

Yes as GOD Children, & Spiritual Warriors, here on Earth, GOD gives us the Authority over the enemy, to command Satan to, get behind us, in JESUS name Amen!
To speak to demonic angels, & command them to go back to the pit of hell where they belong. Not all have the calling on their lives to rise up Spiritually & take this Authority, tho. Not all want to take this Authority in the Spirit, as it does open us up for Spiritual Attack more often, from my experience.

“Through You we will push back our adversaries, through Your name we will trample down those who rise up against us.” Ps. 44:5

Matthew 16:23[SUP]23[/SUP]
Jesus turned and said to Peter, "
Get behind me Satan!
You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns."

[h=2]Do believers have any authority here on earth?[/h]The only Authority I know besides the law of the land, is that the Lord Jesus Christ has been given all authority in heaven, and in earth. So no one but Him, and His Father has the authority.

I personally believe I have no authority, and that no man has authority over us, but it is the Lord is the who governs over.

1 Thess 5: 16 always rejoice ye; 17 continually pray ye; 18 in every thing give thanks, for this [is] the will of God in Christ Jesus in regard to you.

Jesus has all authority!

Then Jesus came up and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matt 28:18-20

Our authority is to lead our children in God pad. Because they are God's children just like our parents was for us.

In Pentecostal faith and doctrine when a convert is baptized in
the Holy Spirit they are ordained into the body of Christ and are
then fully authorized as priests in the church of God:

5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first
begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth.
Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,
6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father;
to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
Revelation 1:

5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house,
an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable
to God by Jesus Christ.
9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation,
a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath
called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
1Peter 2:

Thus a Pentecostal saint can go forth and preach the full gospel,
baptize people,
lay hands on others and pray for others,
teach and admonish,
cast out devils and rebuke Satan,
share their testimonies to the miraculous
be an ambassador to the Kingdom of God.

Hands and forehead represent the will of the one doing the sending. The kind of healing is eternal not temporal. The kind of fast that did drive out the demons that the disciples could not with there human hands. (will)

God is not served by human hands . He can use a unbeliever to bring His gospel just as easy as with a believer . So then we do have the power of His authority in us but we would never assume it could be one of us (earthen vessel of death) as if God was a man in the first place.

2Corinthians 4:7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

We cannot command the god of this world to do nothing . There is only one spirit of faith (Christ's) as it is written which can .

That would be more of a Charismatic idea....like being slain in the spirit a outward sign (no walking by faith... the unseen)

2Corinthians 4:13 We having the
same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;

Even the Son of man in respect to that seen dared not rebuke the father of lies when showing the man jesus all the kingdoms of the world but rather three time said as it is written. Strike three he was out of the picture.

Jud 1:9 Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.

I have more to learn about the subject of the OP and am thankful that Jesus has given us one day at a time to learn and keep learning about Him. About the Holy Spirit and also about who we are now in Christ and what we are to be doing and how He works in our lives.

About faith and walking in the spirit so we don't depend on our old manner of living. Jesus didn't just leave us here to only think about heaven. We have many great and precious promises to be finding out about and walking in.

One example is “Children obey your parents in the Lord.” Christian parents have authority over their children, but just as managers so-to-speak. God is the only authority, and by His authority He appoints positions to His people- to exercise His authority on His behalf. We must be humble and fearful not to misuse the authority entrusted to us- because it’s His not ours, and can be taken from us, and leave us with God’s discipline.

There is only one Gospel, those that believe in a fuller Gospel based on the verses added on to Mark 16:9-20 are basing that faith on verses that are not in the earlist manuscripts. I was once part of that whole movement and all it is about is glorifing man in the name of Jesus, it is not about glorifing God. God is just the butler in the sky that is there waiting for the commands on self glorifing man to give an order. I find it very sad when I hear some one say I command you Lord. How is that possible, how does a servant command their Lord, that is not possible. Anyone that is a believer in Christ is filled with the Spirit and can pray for the sick, baptize another believer and pray that they be indwelt by the Spirit.

So is it the Spirit of God that gives the Spirit filled believer the authority?
What about those who are not Spirit filled? Do they have any?
Brother all believers are filled with the Holy Spirit, the idea that someone that speaks in a tounge somehow has more of God or of the Holy Spirit is bad doctrine because it makes some believer better than others and that is not Biblical. We are all part of the body of Christ made to drink of the one Spirit I Corinthains 12:13 “For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and all were made to drink of one Spirit.”

The gifts of the Spirit are given according to His will, not because of any man laying hands on another believer like that man has the power to out will the Spirit.

I Corinthains 12:4-11, 27-31, 13:1-3, 13, 14:1-5, 9-12, 26-28 “Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit;5 and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord;6 and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone.7 To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.8 For to one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom, and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit,9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit,10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another the ability to distinguish between spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.11 All these are empowered by one and the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as he wills.....27Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it.28 And God has appointed in the church first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, helping, administrating, and various kinds of tongues.29 Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles?30 Do all possess gifts of healing? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret?31 But earnestly desire the higher gifts.

And I will show you a still more excellent way.

13:1 If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.2 And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.3 If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing.....13 So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
14:1 Pursue love, and earnestly desire the spiritual gifts, especially that you may prophesy.2 For one who speaks in a tongue speaks not to men but to God; for no one understands him, but he utters mysteries in the Spirit.3 On the other hand, the one who prophesies speaks to people for their upbuilding and encouragement and consolation.4 The one who speaks in a tongue builds up himself, but the one who prophesies builds up the church.5 Now I want you all to speak in tongues, but even more to prophesy. The one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues, unless someone interprets, so that the church may be built up......

9 So with yourselves, if with your tongue you utter speech that is not intelligible, how will anyone know what is said? For you will be speaking into the air.10 There are doubtless many different languages in the world, and none is without meaning,11 but if I do not know the meaning of the language, I will be a foreigner to the speaker and the speaker a foreigner to me.12 So with yourselves, since you are eager for manifestations of the Spirit, strive to excel in building up the church......

26 What then, brothers? When you come together, each one has a hymn, a lesson, a revelation, a tongue, or an interpretation. Let all things be done for building up.27 If any speak in a tongue, let there be only two or at most three, and each in turn, and let someone interpret.28 But if there is no one to interpret, let each of them keep silent in church and speak to himself and to God.

Speaking in tounge and the focus of them is a selfish gift because it builds up the one that speaks them, when the focus of the gifts are to buld up the Church and if there is no one to interpret those that speak in tounges are to remain silent. I believe in all of the gifts, at the same time the gift of tounges is being misused and abused by many in the Church today. There are people that speak in tounges during a service without anyone that interprets and that is not how Paul teaches that they should be used. They re for the building up of the Church is they are used during a service, which mens someone need to interpret to build up the Church, not my words, Paul's word by the Holy Spirit.

What about the will of God?
Where does that factor in?
The gifts are given by the will of the Holy Spirit, not by the will of man. This is why I see a selfishness to the idea that tounges makes a believer better than other believers to the point that they think they have a Gospel that has more to it then the Gospel other believers have that do not place tounges in a high esteem as they do that is why they call their Gorpel the full Gospel as if there is another Gospel. But it is the nature of the doctrine itself, it is a gift that builds up the one that has it, unless someone else interprets it and Paul says that the one that interprets in greater then the one that speaks in the tounge. I Corinthains 14:4-5 The one who speaks in a tongue builds up himself, but the one who prophesies builds up the church.5 Now I want you all to speak in tongues, but even more to prophesy. The one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues, unless someone interprets, so that the church may be built up.

The one that inpreprets is greater then the one that speaks in tounges because they are building up the Church, the one speaking in a tounge builds themselves up. Now if someone interprets the interpreter and the speaker of the tounges are the same. The word prophesies here is to proclaim God's word by the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. The result of this type of proclaimation of God's word brings sinner to this point. I Corinthains 14:24-25 “But if all prophesy, and an unbeliever or outsider enters, he is convicted by all, he is called to account by all,25 the secrets of his heart are disclosed, and so, falling on his face, he will worship God and declare that God is really among you.”

This is greater then speaking in a tounge, sinners repent and worship God because of this type of prophesies or proclaimation of God's word.

The Spirit gives the gifts by His will.

I Corinthians 12:11 “All these are empowered by one and the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as he wills.”

I believe that believers have authority over their own lives and we have One in us Who is greater than the one who is in the world.

However, we cannot make others do what we know is right.
If a person wants to remain in darkness even though we want him or her to believe in the Light, we cannot make that person believe.

We can expose the darkness and we can reveal that darkness to others, but we cannot make others choose to turn from darkness.

Do we who believe in Jesus have any authority to do anything about our situations or that of others?

The scripture says to the Believer: But seek first the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness (this gives the "condition" for God's Blessings; His interests are to be "first"); and all these things shall be added unto you (this is the "guarantee" of God's Provision). (Matthew 6:33).

The renewal of the mind daily is important to remember and not forget all the Lords benefits: Luke 22:19, Romans 12:1-2, Romans 8:2, Psalm 103, Revelation 3:2-3, Matthew 6:33, 2 Peter 1:12-15, Luke 9:23 (remember daily all of Christ benefits).

1. Remind yourself of how God works [The Law of God - Romans 7:22]: (by Grace through Faith in Christ and His Cross - Romans 8:2)

2. Remind yourself of the Benefits of the Cross: (Justification, adoption; "In Christ" position; redemption; deliverance from the power of the sin nature, 1 Corinthians 6:20, Galatians 5:24, etc.)

3. Rest in the Finished Work of Christ on the Cross: Matthew 11:28-30, Romans 8:37

4. Learn of Christ and His Finished Work on the Cross; Matthew 11:29, Colossians 3:10, Psalm 34:8, 2 Peter 3:18, Luke 10:38-42

Mary sat at the foot of Jesus and learned of Him; she has chosen that good part! LEARN OF HIM DAILY, WHO HE IS AND WHAT HE ACCOMPLISHED OF THE CROSS OF CALVARY!

On our best day we are operating on limited information. Trust in the LORD with all your heart; and lean not unto your own understanding. God does everything just right and on time. For all the promises of God in Him (Christ) are yea, and in Him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.

Jesus certainly is in control of all things and has the final authority over any outcomes...but He certainly gives us power through the Holy Spirit and we certainly have the authority to pray!
