Let us read a book of the Bible together.
- Please suggest one.
- Lets agree on chapters per week.
- Let's also agree on what to post about our readings. It shouldn't be too lengthy.

What do you think?

I think it's a great idea! Have you any preferences?

It's worth a try. I suggest starting with 3 Timothy or Titus to test it out since they are short.

This has been tried before. It starts out great for one or two weeks then things bog down and the project fizzles out.

What you are proposing would take several years to complete. A lot of members post very infrequently, some quit the site after a few weeks or months, others would not be committed due to other interests and responsibilities.

Currently, I am on my 4th complete reading of the bible but the first time that I'm reading it from Genesis through Revelation in chronological order. I do this with my wife each day as part of our private daily devotion consisting of bible reading, study, contemplation and prayer. Usually read one or two chapters a day depending on the length and content. Started in Sept 2016 and anticipate finishing sometime this summer.

I think that what you propose is a great idea but would be impractical to implement, manage, and complete.

Brother you are a good example of how a husband should read the Word of God with his wife.

I get what you are saying. The entire Bible would take years indeed. But what I am proposing is not the whole but a book of the Bible.

Perhaps a chapter at a time from various books and topics. This type of approach has had a certain measure of success.

I agree, you have been doing a great job. I wish my wife and I will develop this together.

Lucy-Pevensie and Ariel82 lets see what we can do with Titus. The small book has 3 chapters with 16, 15 and 15 verses each.

- Lets read the first chapter for this week. The other two in the next two weeks.
- Shall we set Friday as the day to share our insights?
- Shall we use the Swedish Method to share?

The Swedish Method is summarized below:

"Instruct each person to go back over the passage on their own while being on the lookout for three things:

A light bulb: This should be something that ‘shines’ from the passage—whatever impacts most, or draws attention.

A question mark: Anything that is difficult to understand in the text, or a question the reader would like to ask the writer of the passage or the Lord.

An arrow: A personal application for the reader's life."*

Found at:
The Swedish Method - GoThereFor.com

*Instead of a lightbulb one may use "!" exclamation mark, and for an arrow ">" or whatever that may indicate the three divisions/ideas of the Swedish Method.

Johnny_B and tourist are also welcomed to join, since you've already commented on this thread. Other may join as well.

What do you think Lucy-Pevensie and Ariel82; Johnny_B and tourist?

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. Let's read Titus together.

God bless you all!

It's Friday, here's my post:

!!!!!
Verses 10, 11 and 16 light up for me. I pray to GOD that He will forgive me if I am like that. If I talk nonsense and deceive others for monetary gain. If my talk and deeds don't match.

?????
Rebuking someone sharply is quite difficult sometimes, how do we rebuke so that they may become sound in faith rather than run away from us or the Lord?

>>>>>
Are my words and deeds lining up? If not then I must repent and let the Holy Spirit change me.

Its Friday again!

!!!!!
From the 2nd chapter of Titus verses 5 and 6 stand out for me.

?????
The word 'likewise' has been repeated several times. What does it mean? By that I mean does it add the previous principle(s) to the next set of principle(s)? Or does it just mean something related to the word 'furthermore' or some related word that does not necessarily imply transfer of principles?

>>>>>
Have I ever caused the Word of God to be blasphemed? If I have then I should repent. I should live in such a way that the teaching of the Word of God, that I have received, should not be blasphemed.

Its Friday! :) This is the last chapter of Titus. God bless everyone.

!!!!!
This chapter (Titus 3) is littered with application for what we have learnt throughout the the small book. What stood out for me is the first verse, especially the phrase: 'to be ready for every good deed.' (NASB).

?????
How does Paul, the author of this letter, make himself ready for every good work?

>>>>>
I have to prepare myself mentally for every good work. I have to bring my feelings in line with this teaching. I have to even prepare my body and my finances for this. I have to actually do the good deed when the opportunity arises.

Lord, help me be ready to obey what Your Spirit has clearly revealed in Your Word.
