Lets examine this very close and see if it is true. Josephus: Of the War, Book II Scroll down to chapter 10,11 and look what is said about the Jews refusing to "sacrifice"
????

It talks about Nero in Chapter 13
*****

1. Now as to the many things in which Nero acted like a madman, out of the extravagant degree of the felicity and riches which he enjoyed, and by that means used his good fortune to the injury of others; and after what manner he slew his brother, and wife, and mother, from whom his barbarity spread itself to others that were most nearly related to him;

****

Not sure what you would like to point out.

Then notice the link you gave and mine are both Chicago.edu ...

The fragment at the bottom of your link is Papyrus 115 ( can you read it?) I can and would love Angela to help!
If you would like to translate, that would be great.

I see a very big problem here,
new testement was in Greek not Hebrew
Yeah...cuz the it's not like all young Jewish men had to learn Hebrew for their bat mitzvah or anything?

It's a really big problem.....if you take it as literally saying Nero, where does that leave folks?

think about what I am asking you...

It is called "Jewish war, Jewish revolt, 1st Jewish war" ect. and why is because they(the Jews) refused to let them set up images in the temple(see Josephus wars 2/link I gave chapter 10)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Jewish_Revolt_coinage And how is it that if they refused to use the Romans money and minted their own why do people say that they bought and sold with Romes $ when they did not?

Take the same link I gave and search it for the word "PIETY" and "IMPIETY" and you will see from reading wars2 that the Jews were accused of "IMPIETY" meaning they REFUSED to see any of the Caesar's as any type god(especially God). And then ask why it is said that they "worshiped Nero" when in all historical fact instead of this they "rebelled against Rome".

When John wrote this Revelation, telling us to count the number of the beast,
he wrote in the Greek language. Consequently, we should look for this name,
and the number 666, in this language recognized in the Bible, not in the Latin or Hebrew.

We are all familiar with the Roman numerals, where letters are used for numbers.
All understand that I is 1, v is 5, x is 10, etc. But many do not know that the Greek
language, in which the book of Revelation was written, also uses letters for numbers.

In the Greek this name was understood in the second century a.d. to have originally
been spelled Lateinos. It signifies “Latin man” or “the name of Latium,”
from which region the Romans derived their origin and their language.

This word, too, signifies “Roman.” In the Greek, l is 30, a is 1, t is 300, e is 5,
I is 10, n is 50, o is 70, s is 200. Count these figures. They count to exactly 666!

It is indeed no coincidence that the name of the kingdom, its founder and first king,
and of each man in the kingdom, counts to exactly 666!

The point of the message is to hold fast and NOT worship Nero and it is written not just the Jews but also Gentiles who accepted Jesus as their Messiah.

The point would be that the faithful DIDN'T worship NERO and suffered and died instead

The NT is written in Koine Greek. This language is the "common" Greek spoken in Jesus' day. It has degenerated or gotten simpler from classical Greek forms. For example, the optative form is almost gone in the Bible. The diagramma letter is gone. I guessed the apostles chose to remain in the vernacular, so people would actually understand what was written.

I had not heard of these, but I found quite a bit on the internet about it. You probably have a different search engine where you are, which is why it is not showing up.

Here are a few more links:

I have never studied these scripts, because they were not used in the same time or place as Koine Greek. I know most Greek translators have studied classical Greek, but I am not on that track, right now!

Not sure what you would like to discuss.

I do note you and Angela discuss it but it kind of fizzed out.

See Romans 13:1-7 and ask yourself.. "if Nero is the beast do we see him as ordained by God and use his money/mark to pay his dues?"...

Ok the Jews died in the siege(refused to worship Nero) revolted instead and were killed for not bowing down to Rome/Nero notice the ones who died in the siege were the ones who denied Jesus?

He is a secular not spiritual authority....we give to Caesar what is Caesar (in this day and age government and taxes) and give to God what is God's....honor and worship should be given to God alone.

see Romans 13, Hebrews 13:17,1 Peter 2:13 and tell me why the apostles said to honor Nero, the beast, and use his money. I don't think they did,I don't think they thought Nero was the man of sin.

For not worshiping him(Nero) or because Nero falsely accused them of setting Rome on fire? It's as though if it is repeated enough times people will believe it to be true without questioning it...

?????? Jesus paid temple taxes with gold taken from the mouth of fish.....

I said that honor and worship should be to God alone, so....we have a break down of communication some where.
