This isn't your traditional Christian story, but thought it might help some people see what a good church does, see where we start and end, and who our alpha and omega really is.

Medium sized article. Took me about 2 minutes to read. (That added, simply because I don't usually go to links unless I know how long it will take. lol)

Happy and sad points. It was good that the nursery reached out and that she went back to church

sorry,
If you like, i can point out how the enemy is using a medium such as the internet.
Take note of the article about demonology.
The pretense is to sow tares.

pay attention to the numbers they use, it is a tell.

No, "2 and a half yr old child", is affected by such nonsense.

Like i said before, the numbers they use is the tell.

Never mind. You think everyone but you is right about everything, only you know the truth, and you're duty is to educated the unwashed masses. The only thing you've ever contributed to this site is discord. Really not worth trying to make sense of your gobbledygook.

I can really relate. Did 3 years in Christian recovery programs, everything but heroin, clean and sober 12 years now. The first church I attended while in the program had nothing but love and open arms, and it went a long way to my recovery. I've been to a few churches since that give me the hairy eyeball when I tell them about my experiences, and I don't go back, but if that first church had not been so kind I may not have made it.

I like the Ravi Zacharias quote "Jesus did not come to make bad people good or to make good people better, but to make dead people alive.”

Sad ending, though.

Beautiful story, Lynn! Thanks for posting. I attend a church near the city center, we allow both NA and AA to meet in our church. And we do get some strange people hiding in the back of our church services, from time to time.

But we have a lot of love in our congregation. So, it wouldn’t surprise me if those people were touched by the love of God, from some of our members, besides the worship and preaching.

This story is really is the gospel in action. It is not about self righteousness, but God’s love and mercy and grace. I hope I can remember this, next time a person walks into my church, neighborhood or home, before I judge and condemn them, because they are not quite the same as me, and certainly not perfect! Because, in the final analysis, God saved a wretch like me, he can save anyone!

thats the very pretense of a tare itself.

Who ever said any Congregation has ever turned away anyone in need?
and then thoughts lead off to who knows what.

Self control is sincerely needed.

Neighborhood or home?
Really, have you ever had a hardened criminal, card carrying murderer (convicted felon in your home?

Great story depleted, reminds me of “come all you who labour and I will give
you rest, take my yoke upon me and learn of me.....

Cant learn about Jesus and find that rest if church folks won’t let you.

I haven't heard the phrase "hairy-eyeball" in years. Made me chuckle. Definitely needs to become a phrase again.

What article, and what does it have to do with the treatment of recovering sinners?

Found it https://corechristianity.com/resource-library/articles/why-jesus-wants-you-to-lose-hope. Other than a misleading title, what's the problem?

I have. So? And if nobody else is saying it ("Who ever said any Congregation has ever turned away anyone in need?") then I'll say it, because it happens, and folks need to re-examine their attitude as a congregation at times. It's called looking in the mirror. I do it all the time. No fun and it can hurt, but we have to.

It seems in this world we do a lot of judging on what people seem to be or what they were. That is only natural I suppose but God says something different. I am not what I was before salvation, I am a new creation. I have lost far too many brothers and sisters to addiction and at first I was upset that God would give me long term recovery but not give it to them. Then my pastor's wife said something that I will always remember. She said I should praise God that those who died came to know Him and thank Him for whatever sober time they did have.

I wonder how people who look down upon addicts will answer when Jesus reminds them that what they did for or to the least they also did to Him.

I miss my friends but I know I will see them again.
