1 Corinthians 1:17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.
18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.
1 Corinthians 1:22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:
23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;
24 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.
So, both the preaching of Christ crucified and the cross is the power of God.
18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

try to keep up
the power isn't the cross...maybe study up on what the cross actually stood for...for one thing, scripture states that the one that hangs on a tree (cross) is accursed...so if some folks want to continually consider the cross, they might consider that also
if we look at I Corinthians 1:18, we find the power is not the cross; the power is actually ascribed to God...not the cross
the cross is the instrument used by God to display HIS power in the resurrection of Jesus.
Jesus became a curse for us...we are no longer cut off from God (speaking of believers)
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
John 14:6
you cannot consistently preach only the cross. what about the resurrection?
Paul went on and had a lot more to say...he did not stay in a time loupe reliving that one verse (and remember verses have been added)
Jesus is risen and He is the way.
