Some folks are preaching that folks should keep a Jewish like Sabbath on Saturday.

I believe we should pray without ceasing and keep Sabbath every day.

I just wanted to show how that is possible and perhaps have people share how they find Rest in Christ Jesus?

I am tired of the SDA and folks like that condemning people for not worshipping as they do. Some even condeming the gathering and worshiping together on Sunday. It all borders on legalism and a false understanding of the New Covenant that Jesus established.

Don't get me wrong. I have attended a Messianic Jewish congregation and the Rabbi doesn't make the same errors out SDA folks here on the forums make. So if folks want to keep the feast or worship on Sat they have that freedom in Christ. However folks cross the, line when they condemned judge others.

I can provide Bible verses if needed.

I'm not disagreeing with you but if people kept the sabbath EVERY DAY how could any work get done? Everyone would be on one long holiday.

I think you miss the point - Jesus Christ Himself is our Sabbath rest!
I am pretty sure Ariel is not advocating sitting on our backsides doing nothing every day of the week!

When the Jews became consternated by Jesus doing works on the weekly sabbath, saying, He is breaking the Sabbath, Jesus answered, my Father never stops working, even on sabbaths, and I am working also.

Sabath is about worship not about a day,
A day was created for man not man for a day,
Worship is not fleshly rest or singing or getting emotional in some building somewhere, it is God in us communing with God- so it happens every single minute in our lives.

Hello friends,

Now let's be honest here and with ourselves.

Where does it say in God's Word that God's Sabbath should be kept EVERYDAY? :)

If we believe Sola Scriptura (God's Word Only) then Gods does NOT say God's Sabbath is EVERYDAY as there is NO scriupture that says this.

WHAT IS GOD'S SABBATH?

It is the 4th Commandment from the 10 Commandments (Exodus 20:8-11) if we break it just like ANY of the 10 Commandments we are guilty of committing SIN before GOD (Romans 7:7; James 2:8-12; 1 John 3:4).

WHERE DOES THE SABBATH COME FROM?

God's Sabbath is a memorial of CREATION that was made in the creation week and given to our first parents (Adam and Eve). Let's look at the scriptures..........

Genesis 2
1,
Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
2, And
ON THE SEVENTH DAY God ended his work which he had made; and he RESTED ON THE SEVENTH DAY from all his work which he had made.
3, And
GOD BLESSED THE SEVENTH DAY, and made it HOLY <the 7th day>: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

RESTEDH7673שָׁבַת shabath (shaw-ɓath') v.to repose, i.e. to cease from exertion.
{used in many implied relations (causative, figurative or specific)}[a primitive root]KJV: (cause to, let, make to) cease, celebrate, cause (make) to fail, keep Sabbath, suffer to be lacking, leave, put away (down), (make to) rest, rid, still, take away.

Some points to note from the scriptures...............

v1 God completed creation in 6 days and RESTED on the 7TH DAY
v2 God RESTED on the 7TH DAY
v3 God SET APART the 7TH DAY and made THE 7TH DAY a HOLY DAY
v2 The 7TH DAY is part of the FINISHED WORK of the CREATION WEEK

CONCLUSION: Gods SABBATH was made in the CREATION WEEK on the 7th DAY of CREATION. It is part of a FINISHED WORK in creation. The 7th DAY God set apart as a HOLY day because he RESTED from the WORK of CREATION

................

Let's now look at God's 4th commandment............

Exodus 20
8,
Remember the SABBATH DAY, to KEEP IT HOLY. <Why?> Because God made it Holy for mankind and commands us to keep it as a Holy day)
9, Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work:
10, But the
SEVENTH DAY IS THE SABBATH of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: <WHY>
11,
For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested theSEVENTH DAY: wherefore the LORD BLESSED THE SABBATH, and HALLOWED IT.

Some points to note from the scriptures...............

v8 God tells us to REMEMBER the SABBATH DAY to keep it HOLY
v10
God tells us the 7th DAY of the WEEK is his SABBATH DAY
v8;10
God tells us the 7th DAY is to be kept as a HOLY day and NO secular WORK is to be done on this day
v11 God tells us the reason is because it is a memorial of CREATION and the CREATOR and God blessed the 7th DAY and made it a HOLY DAY.

CONCLUSION: Gods SABBATH was made in the CREATION WEEK on the 7th DAY of CREATION. It is part of a FINISHED WORK in creation. The 7th DAY God set apart as a HOLY day because he RESTED from the WORK of CREATION. God commnads us in the 4th Commandment of the 10 Commandments to REMEMBER the 7th DAY of the WEEK it is a HOLY DAY that NO secular WORK is to be conducted.

................

WHAT DAY IS THE LORD'S DAY?

Matthew 12
8,
FOR THE SON OF MAN IS LORD OF THE SABBATH DAY.

THE SCRIPTURE THAT SAYS JESUS IS A SABBATH OR THE LORD'S DAY IS SUNDAY?

????????????? there is none.

ARE YOU WORSHIPPING GOD IN SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH IF YOU ARE BREAKING GOD'S COMMANDMENTS?

Matthew 15
3,
But he answered and said to them, Why do you also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?
4, For God commanded, saying, Honor your father and mother: and, He that curses father or mother, let him die the death.
5, But you say, Whoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatever you might be profited by me;
6, And honor not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have you made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.
7, You hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,
8, This people draws near to me with their mouth, and honors me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
9, But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

If you are breaking God's Commandments then Jesus says you are not worshiping God but sinning agaisnt him. SIN will keep all who pratice it OUT of God's KINGDOM.

...............

NOW it is important to worship God EVERYDAY of the week but GOD'S 4th Commandment which is the 7th DAY of the WEEK is a HOLY DAY.

God says he BLESSED the 7th DAY of the WEEK. The 7th DAY of the week is God's SABBATH DAY and GOD made his SABBATH DAY a HOLY DAY that NO WORK is to be done on this DAY.

NOW PLEASE tell us where in Sola Scriptura (Gods' WORD alone) does it say God's SABBATH which GOD says is the 7th DAY of the WEEK, EVERYDAY?

IF God made the 7th DAY of the week his SABBATH and made it a HOLY DAY where no WORK is to be DONE, HOW can you NOT WORK EVERYDAY of the WEEK?

Sola Scriptura (On God's Word alone). Let's be honest here, who do you really follow? God's WORD or your Catholic tradition?

................

SIN is the breaking of God's Commandments (James 2:9-11; Romans 7:7; 1 John 3:4)

Those who CONTINUE in UNREPENTANT SIN will NOT enter into the KINGDOM of HEAVEN.

................

God's 4th commandment is one of the ten (Exodus 20:8-11) If we knowingly break it when God asks us not to we stand guilty before God of committing sin (James 2:8-12).

If we do not seek him in repentance and forgiveness we are in danger of the Judgement (Hebrews 10:26-27)

Sunday worship is a tradition and teaching of man that has led many to break the commandments of God. Jesus says that if
we follow the traditions of man that break the commandments of God we are not following God (Matthew 15:3-9)

There is not one scripture in all of God's Word that says that God's 4th Commandment is now ABOLISHED and we are now commanded to KEEP Sunday as a Holy day.

Who should we follow the teachings and traditions of men or the Word of God? Who should we believe the Words of men or the Word of God?

In times of ignorance God winks at but now ,<when a KNOWLEDGE of the truth has come> calls all men everywhere to REPENT (FOLLOW) (Acts 17:30-31).

The Lord of the sabbath is not the servant of it, but it is subject to Him.

Now let's look at your post and OP....

Some folks are preaching that folks should keep a Jewish like Sabbath on Saturday.
I believe we should pray without ceasing and keep Sabbath every day.
This only shows you do not know God's WORD. See post # 7 linked. God's 4th Commandment SABBATH is the 7th DAY of the WEEK. GOD made it a HOLY DAY that NO secular WORK was to be conducted.

PLEASE show us if your OP is true that God says EVERYDAY is a HOLY DAY that NO WORK is to be conducted?
What would happen to Society if according to your OP EVERYDAY was a HOLY SABBATH that NO WORK was to be conducted?

Scripture please to answer the questions above.... (Sola Scriptura)

I just wanted to show how that is possible and perhaps have people share how they find Rest in Christ Jesus?
Let's talk about REST....

Isaiah 57
20,
But the wicked (SINNERS) are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt.
21, There is no peace, said my God, to the wicked.

GOD'S SABBATH REST

Hebrews 3
8,
Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:
9, When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years.
10, Why I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do always err in their heart; and they have not known my ways.
11, So I swore in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.
12, Take heed, brothers, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.
13, But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
14, For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end;
15, While it is said, To day if you will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.
16, For some, when they had heard, did provoke: however, not all that came out of Egypt by Moses.
17, But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcasses fell in the wilderness?
18, And to whom swore he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not?
19, So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

WHAT REST ARE WE TALKING ABOUT HERE?

Hebrews 4
1,
Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.
2, For to us was the gospel preached, as well as to them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
3, For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
4, For he spoke in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.
5, And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest.

God's REST is the SEVENTH DAY SABBATH REST OF CREATION (v4-5). Those who BELIEVE GOD's WORD enter into God's SABBATH REST as GOD does on the SEVENTH DAY of the week.

6, Seeing therefore it remains that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:
7, Again, he limits a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if you will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.
8, For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.
9, There remains a SABBATH REST to the people of God.
10, For he that is entered into his rest (SABBATH REST), he also has ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
11, Let us labor therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

In times of ignorance God winks at but now ,<when a KNOWLEDGE of the truth has come> calls all men everywhere to REPENT (FOLLOW) (Acts 17:30-31).

....................

Now let's compare Matthew 11:28-30 with Hebrews 4.....

Mattehew 11
28,
Come to me, all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29, Take my yoke on you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and you shall find rest to your souls.
30, For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

STRONGS GREEK REST meaning; G373 ἀναπαύω anapauo (a-na-pav'-ō) v.
1. (reflexively) to repose, to rest.
2. (literally or figuratively) to be exempt, to remain.
3. (by implication) to refresh.
[from G303 and G3973]
KJV: take ease, refresh, (give, take) rest
Root(s): G303, G3973

G303
ἀνά ana (a-na') prep.
1. (properly) up.
2. (by extension, used distributively) amidst or severally, etc.
3. (by implication, as a prefix) (it often means) repetition (again), intensity, reversal, etc.
4. apiece.
5. (of combined motion) back.
6. (with G3319) through (the midst).

G3973 παύω pauo (pav'-ō) v.
to stop, i.e. restrain, quit, desist, come to an end.
{transitively or intransitively}
[a primary verb (“pause”)]
KJV: cease, leave, refrain

....................

Now compare this GREEK word used here to the one used in Hebrews 4:9...

Hebrews 4
9, There remains a SABBATH REST to the people of God.

The GREEk Word used here is different.

STRONGS GREEK/HEBERW REST meaning of Hebrews 4:9;
G4520 σαββατισμός sabbatismos (sab-ba-tiz-mos') n.
1. a “sabbatism.”
2. (figuratively) the repose of Christianity (as a type of heaven).

[from a derivative of G4521] σάββατον sabbaton (saɓ'-ɓa-ton) n.
1. the Sabbath (i.e. Shabbath).
2. a day of weekly repose from secular avocations.
3. the observance or institution itself.
4. (by extension) a week, i.e. the interval between two Sabbaths.
5. likewise the plural in all the above applications.

[of Hebrew origin (H7676)]
שַׁבָּת shabbath (shab-bawth') n-e.
1. intermission, a period of temporary rest.
2. (specifically) the Sabbath, the seventh day being the day of rest.

[intensive from H7673]
H7673 שָׁבַת shabath (shaw-ɓath') v.
to repose, i.e. to cease from exertion.
{used in many implied relations (causative, figurative or specific)}
[a primitive root] KJV: (cause to, let, make to) cease, celebrate, cause (make) to fail, keep sabbath, suffer to be lacking, leave, put away (down), (make to) rest, rid, still, take away.

....................

As you can see from the differentGREEK words used in Matthew 11:28 and Hebrews 4:9 both words are indeed different and have a different application.

Both are similar referring to rest but the word REST in Hebrews 4:9 in is reference "Sabbatismos" which is the "REST"specifically found in God's Sabbath the 4th Commandment that refers right back the Hebrew WORD used for rest in Genesis 2.

Let's look at the origin of the Sabbath and God's 4th Commandment...

Genesis 2
1,
Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
2, And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
3, And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

[intensive from H7673]
H7673 שָׁבַת shabath (shaw-ɓath') v.
to repose, i.e. to cease from exertion.
{used in many implied relations (causative, figurative or specific)}
[a primitive root] KJV: (cause to, let, make to) cease, celebrate, cause (make) to fail, keep sabbath, suffer to be lacking, leave, put away (down), (make to) rest, rid, still, take away.

The above HEBREW meaning is the base root of Sabbatismos from the GREEK word used in Hebrews 4:9 which is referring right back to the origin of God's Sabbath in Genesis 2 and God's 4th Commandment in Exodus 20:8-11.

The meraning here is the REST that comes specifically from BELIEVING and OBEYING Gods WORD' from God's 4th Commandment Sabbath. This is the SABBATH rest according to the commandment.

......................

You have no peace because you do not BELIEVE and FOLLOW God's WORD. We ONLY have rest in Christ if we BELIEVE and FOLLOW Jesus. Those who are still in their SINS do not KNOW God and are like the troubled see that have no peace.

Isaiah 57
20,
But the wicked (SINNERS) are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt.
21, There is no peace, said my God, to the wicked.

1 John 2
3,
And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
4, He that said, I know him, and keeps not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

Those who CONTINUE in KNOWN UNREPENTANT SIN will NOT enter into the KINGDOM of HEAVEN.

.......................

What is legalism? No one that I know BELIEVES that we are saved by anythng that we do. WE are ONLY saved by GRACE through FAITH and NOT OF OURSELVES it is a GIFT of GOD and NOT of WORKS lest any man should boast.

However if your FAITH does not have the FRUIT of OBEDIENCE then you are still in your SINS because you have rejected the GIFT of God's dear son (James 2:18-20; 26; Romans 6:23). If your tree has NO FRUIT then it is cast down and thrown into the FIRE (Matthew 7:12-23; Hebrews 10:26-27).

Many do not know why God has given us GRACE and FAITH. Let's see what God says.........

WHAT IS GRACE FOR?

Romans 1
5, By whom we have received GRACE and apostleship, FOR OBEDIENCE TO THE FAITH among all nations, for his name.

Romans 6
[FONT=&quot]1,[/FONT][FONT=&quot] What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. 2, How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

DOES FAITH ABOLISH GOD'S LAW?

Romans 3
31,
Do we then ABOLISH THE LAW THROUGH FAITH? GOD FORBID: YES, WE ESTABLISH THE LAW.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THOSE WHO CONTINUE IN SIN ONCE THEY RECEIVE A KNOWLEDGE OF THE TRUTH?

Hebrews 10
26,
For if we sin willfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more sacrifice for sins,
27, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

Indeed, those who CONTINUE IN SIN will not enter the KINGDOM of HEAVEN.

Now make NO mistake here these are God's WORDS not mine. I am no one. If you feel God speaking to you HARDEN NOT your heart. GOD is blessing you with HIS SPIRIT calling you because he wants to have a closer walk with you.

God is a spirit and those who WORSHIP him must worship him in SPIRIT and in TRUTH.

The Sabbath symbolized the coming of the Messiah, who would provide a permanent rest for His people. We can now cease from our spiritual labors and rest in the Lord of the Sabbath. "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28). The Sabbath was made for man and realized in Christ.. jmo

John 5:17-18

But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work. Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.
Indeed the religions teachers of the days of Jesus placed so many man made tradtions around God's Sabbath that it was though mankind was made for the Sabbath. Jesus rebuked these traditions and taught that he was the CREATOR and LORD of the Sabbath and the Sabbath was made for MANKIND and not man for the Sabbath and that it is lawful to do good on the LORD'S DAY (Sabbath.

Not really Dan,

Different greek word are used for the sabbath rest sabbatismos that God's people enter into (Hebrews 4:9) and no mention of the Sabbath in Matthew 11:28.

Although Matt 11:28 is related to God's Sabbath because no one enters into God's rest unless they BELIEVE and FOLLOW God's WORD.

I know this would be posted that is why I posted about REST in POST # 11 linked which talks about God's REST and those that have it and those that do not.

I think you miss the point - Jesus Christ Himself is our Sabbath rest!
I am pretty sure Ariel is not advocating sitting on our backsides doing nothing every day of the week!
No I did not miss the point. I am full aware that Christ Himself is our Rest, just as He Himself is our Peace. But the OP clearly said that we should literally observe the sabbath every day. Which would mean a perpetual holiday with dire consequences. And as already indicated in the Ten Commandments, the 7th day of the week was given as the sabbath.

What Sabbatarians generally forget is that the Sabbath was a sign between God and Israel (Exodus 31:12-18). What Sabbatarians wish to suppress and ignore is that ever since the resurrection of Christ, the first day of the week has been named as "the Lord's Day" and is therefore the Christian sabbath -- a day for rest and worship.

When the Jews became consternated by Jesus doing works on the weekly sabbath, saying, He is breaking the Sabbath, Jesus answered, my Father never stops working, even on sabbaths, and I am working also.
The difference is between 'the works of God and our own works !
when people learn to 'discern between them' then they will understand GOD !
