Drag on and on.

The Greek can also be understood as serpent, so John would be referring back to the garden where de devil spoke with lying subtlety.

Rev 12:9 And the great dragon was thrown down, the serpent of old who is called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole [fn]world; he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.

Let us break this down and analyse. In this context, to speak like a dragon has to involve deception. Deception so powerful that whatever speech given sounds pleasant, but in reality is not.

There are 3 ways in which a person can talk.

1. Speak in truth
2. Speak in lies
3. Speak a mixture of lies and truth together.

Now in order to decieve people effectively, one has to talk with a mixture of lies and truth, and it is this combination of lies and truth blended together is the most dangerous, as we are in a day and age where it has become difficult for many to distinguish between fact or fiction.

Another element involved in the deception process is charm. You don’t decieve people by telling them what they need to hear, but what they want to hear.

cultures

It's a very interesting question.... How could John know about dragons? How could many ancient cultures depict dragons on artifacts? Unless they existed? Just like dinosaurs existed at the same time as humans. Creation is a literal 6 days without a stupid gap theory. And Scripture says, Job 41:21 Its breath sets coals ablaze, and flames dart from its mouth. Is talking about dragons that went extinct with the dinosaurs?

As the dragon wished to eat the son of the woman (Rev 12.4), therefore the
dragon's speech is in the sense of devouring Jesus from the hearts of others.

Good question. It seems the question of a child and, as we ought to receive the kingdom of God as a little child, you are in the right path (Mark 10.15).
These are the simple questions that will give us a solid basis for solving the most complex issues.

Revelation 1:1-2

The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John: 2Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.

Revelation 13:11,12
And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon. 12And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.

Luke 4:6
And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.

Daniel 4:17
This word is by decree of the observers; the matter is a command from the holy ones. This is so the living will know that the Most High is ruler over the kingdom of men. He gives it to anyone He wants and sets the lowliest of men over it.

Can anyone deceive anyone except themselves?

 • Take heed to yourselves, that your heart be not deceived, and ye turn aside, and serve other gods, and worship them; Deut 11:16
 • The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground? Obad 1:3

Wouldn't the most easily deceived be those who think they can deceive others with a mixture of lies and truth?

 • For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Luke 6:43
 • Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter? James 3:11

Another element involved in the deception process is charm. You don’t decieve people by telling them what they need to hear, but what they want to hear.
 • Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee. Prov 9:8
 • And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. Rev 20:10

When I was small I thought the fruit of the Tree of knowledge of good and evil was poisonous fruit ... simple don't eat that.. but little did I know that ship had sailed for us all through Adam and Eve.. GOD be thanked through our Lord and Saviour by the Grace of GOD we can be given the fruit of the Tree of Life through believing.

Now.. we can wonder many things and it is a mystery.. you read and Believe the Lord’s Testament above all else... and no beast or serpent can beguile us...

GOD be our strength and refuge through our Faith... we are weak He is our Stronghold.

The whole Bible is full of wonder... because GOD is Amazing and here as we walk as mortal’s lower than the Angel’s let us admire... not solve.

what does it mean to '

The dragon is identified as that old serpent, the devil, and Satan (Rev. 12:9, 20:2). So check out all the sayings of the devil in Scripture (there are many), and that would be speaking like a dragon, would it not?

I would say that the scribes & Pharisees in John 8 "spoke like a dragon"; they spoke in accordance with their spiritual father the devil (v. 44) all through the chapter.

I really didn’t mean to be facetious. I think it must have sounded like John IMAGINED what a dragon would sound like. For example, if I said “Her voice was like that of a mermaid”, it would mean her voice would sound how I would imagine a mermaid to sound- kind of weird, plaintive, and siren like. I don’t think we are to be scientific with Revelation. I don’t know what a dragon sounds like, but I could imagine and if I heard a loud, animal yet oven like roar- like a living oven, I would say “That sounds like a dragon”.

My interpretation, of course.

Remember the leggy serpent in the Garden of Eden? That's how a dragon speaks.
