Typing in all caps is considered yelling. Not to mention, it just makes it harder for people to read. And it's annoying. LOL

Men cast lots and the whole disposing thereof is of the Lord....

I like blackjack.....and have only played like 3 times in my life....won money twice......as long as a man is not overcome by it...ALL things are lawful although not expedient.....

As a man who had a severe gambling addiction then to me the answer is no.

Grew up in that environment, and it's a family heritage.

For me gambling is an esacpism. That was my escapism.

When God dealt with the reason I was set free from it.

I found myself gambling without realising I was gambling.
Then I realised I was.

Where the casino does the robbing. All gambling is rigged in favor of the people who offer this pastime.

That is so true.

They prey on the weakness of people and the reason why they gamble.

It's not a pastime, it's an excuse to draw people into forgetting their past or their present.

Makes my blood boil.

Gambling for pure entertainment is fine.
When it becomes an addiction, or one is gambling away money that
belongs to someone else, e.g., their wife/children/creditors, it's sin.

This is essentially true for all so-called "entertainment".
Yes that is true.

It wasn't for me.

I lost big time and won big time.

I remember one week. I lost about $10k then the next week I won about $20k.

Just as miserable when I lost and won.

It's not just gambling.

Psalm 22:17-18
“I can count all my bones— they stare and gloat over me; 18they divide my garments among them, and for my clothing they cast lots.”

John 19:23-27
When the soldiers had crucified Jesus, they took his garments and divided them into four parts, one part for each soldier; also his tunic. But the tunic was seamless, woven in one piece from top to bottom, 24so they said to one another, “Let us not tear it, but cast lots for it to see whose it shall be.” This was to fulfill the Scripture which says,

“They divided my garments among them,
and for my clothing they cast lots.”

So the soldiers did these things, 25but standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother and his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. 26When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son!” 27Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother!” And from that hour the disciple took her to his own home.”

I investigated gambling about twenty years ago. It is possible to make money in the long run through craps if you learn how to throw the dice precisely (a very difficult skill to learn), or through blackjack (another difficult skill to learn). In these two games, you are playing against the house who is only concerned about taking other people's money, not in sharing any with you. If you really do start to win regularly, most casinos won't let you play there anymore.

In poker you are playing against others and that means that if you win others lose. I don't like that principle.

At the time I rationalized that taking money from the house was not a bad thing. I thought that if I played really well, I might be able to make about $10 an hour. But it takes a lot of concentration and if you lose focus for even a second all the money you earned in the last several hours would be instantly gone.

There is a documentary called Holy Rollers about a group of Christians who became very good at winning in Blackjack. Here is a clip about it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i3s4o6gAQRk

It is now my opinion that one should seek God's will for how to employ ones talents and I am inclined to think he has better things for Christians to do than gamble.

Ask Paul...he is the one that said all things are lawful, but not expedient.....and your question is rather idiotic......and to be honest....this type of idiotic response is exactly why there are divisions, heated arguments, miscommunication, etc. on this site.....

Yep they did that over Christ for sure.....does not change the referenced verse that I posted that has nothing to do with what took place over the garments that JESUS wore.....

Gambling, like drugs, is not an issue by itself but the problem is addiction of mind. Haven't you heard that God dwells in the mind of a believer? so anything that completely captures the mind is not good in that sense but if purely for relaxation and passing time, it's ok because an idle mind on the other hand is deadly as well.

The Bible says get a job and stop chasing fantasies.

"11Those who work their land will have abundant food,
but those who chase fantasies have no sense."-Proverbs 12:11

You are not a Christian are you. That being said you should probably should get another hobby. Apparently speaking about Scripture is to much for you. I would hate to see you continue stumbling by being a poor example by your mannerism being so far away from what Christ purposed

Personally I don’t gamble, we are given the example of being a shrewd servant.
It can be argued that gambling is wasteful with what God has given us.

On the other hand I wonder what people make of the stock market, bonds etc.

In a way that’s a sort of corporate gambling, you buy shares hoping to make
lots of money etc. Many do that successfully, some lose millions.

The whole of our economy is based on playing the stock market.

Then there is cold hard currency, verses digital currency.

I think there are different types of Gambling, personal and global.

The personal stuff I have got to say, is a big no no. It wrecks people’s lives.
