Winston Churchill said it best: I've had a good look at the enemy, he is us!

Rom. 7:18: "For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not."

Pride is our greatest enemy..

James 4: {6} But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble."

You definitely do not want God to be resisting you... You want His Grace..

I thank you all your responses………. interesting. Theses are my views.
As Christian’s, our walk has many up’s and down’s. I have learned it is very easy to blame others or Satan or sometimes God.
Through experiences and God’s Word, I have realised my greatest enemy is myself.
My thought process and how I react to situations stems from my final decision’s.
Many a times, I have asked for forgivness for thinking wrong, saying wrong words, douts or reacting badly to a situation.
As long as I am in this flesh form, I am still vulnerable to the deeds of the old man.
I thank God for His Grace and Mercy upon our life’s.
Through trails the Lord taught me a very valuable lesson.
He quoted these Words “For every action there is a reaction, it the reaction that will reveal your true character.
The character of a Christian and God: Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
My greatest enemy is my mind:
l Romans 7:19-20 For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
l Romans 7:23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.
l Romans 8:5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
l Romans 8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
l 2 Corinthians 10:5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

Devils only tempt us to sin, but the decision to sin comes from ourself. Therefore ‘ourself’ is our greatest enemy that brings about punishments, diseases, and wrath.

“Be not afraid of those who can kill the body, but be afraid of the One who has the power to destroy both body and soul.”

Based on Scriptures it is religious man. Abel was killed by his "Christian" brother. Caleb was nearly stoned to death by the only God of Abraham preaching people on the planet. The Prophets were murdered by the only God of Abraham preaching people on earth.

Jesus was betrayed by His own disciple and killed by the same people He was sent to save.

Stephen was killed by the same people.

Acts 7:51 Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.52 Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? and they have slain them which shewed before of the coming of the Just One; of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers:
53 Who have received the law by the disposition of angels, and have not kept it.
54 When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed on him with their teeth.

Jesus was asked by His Disciples what to watch for.

Matt. 24:3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

There is only one group of people on this planet that "Come in Christ's name" and that preach that Jesus is truly the Messiah, the Son of God. It isn't Islam, or the Jews or Atheists, its "Christianity".

A hard pill for religious man to swallow to be sure. But this theme runs through the entire Bible. I could fill a page with scriptures which prove this to be true.

2 Cor. 11:13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.
14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

Matt. 7:15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

Col. 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

We learn from the very beginning that the deceiver uses parts of God's Word to deceive.

Just look at what the serpent deceived Eve into believing about her God.

Gen. 3:4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die, The God of the OT is lying to you.)

5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof,(In the day that you reject His Words) then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

She was convinced that God's instructions are a lie, they are not for her own good, He is holding her back, keeping her in prison. But if you reject His Words and make your own way, you will be immortal just like He is.

Very good topic M7. And certainly a sobering one if people address what His Word says about it.

The Scriptures lists (at least) 3, not 1, the world, the flesh and the Devil. 1John 2v14-17.

Your comment is most constructive!

The world and the flesh are mentioned along with the Devil in that key Scripture, so there is not just one that is "the greatest!"

Or do you not comprehend that!

Lust of the eyes, lust of the flesh and the pride of life.

It would be hard to pick just one out of those.

So I would probably pick the one who uses those things against us in order to try and destroy us. The enemy of our souls.
