Why would people in the city beat Pharaoh´s daughter and why would Salomon had to run away from people?

Does not make sense.
It makes sense if these verses are prophecy;
My lover stands and the door and knocks. I open the door but he is gone. I look for him but the people beat me.
Solomon's wife is the church or Israel, it doesn't matter to me, either works.
Solomon is a type of Christ orof the Messianic kingdom.

I will stop here and look at chapter one.
Song of Solomon 1:1 The song of songs, which is Solomon's.
Song of Solomon 1:2 Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth: for thy love is better than wine.
Song of Solomon 1:3 Because of the savour of thy good ointments thy name is as ointment poured forth, therefore do the virgins love thee.
Song of Solomon 1:4 Draw me, we will run after thee: the king hath brought me into his chambers: we will be glad and rejoice in thee, we will remember thy love more than wine: the upright love thee.
Song of Solomon 1:5 I am black, but comely, O ye daughters of Jerusalem, as the tents of Kedar, as the curtains of Solomon.
Song of Solomon 1:6 Look not upon me, because I am black, because the sun hath looked upon me: my mother's children were angry with me; they made me the keeper of the vineyards; but mine own vineyard have I not kept.
Song of Solomon 1:7 Tell me, O thou whom my soul loveth, where thou feedest, where thou makest thy flock to rest at noon: for why should I be as one that turneth aside by the flocks of thy companions?
Song of Solomon 1:8 If thou know not, O thou fairest among women, go thy way forth by the footsteps of the flock, and feed thy kids beside the shepherds' tents.
Song of Solomon 1:9 I have compared thee, O my love, to a company of horses in Pharaoh's chariots.
Song of Solomon 1:10 Thy cheeks are comely with rows of jewels, thy neck with chains of gold.
Song of Solomon 1:11 We will make thee borders of gold with studs of silver.
Song of Solomon 1:12 While the king sitteth at his table, my spikenard sendeth forth the smell thereof.
Song of Solomon 1:13 A bundle of myrrh is my wellbeloved unto me; he shall lie all night betwixt my breasts.
Song of Solomon 1:14 My beloved is unto me as a cluster of camphire in the vineyards of Engedi.
Song of Solomon 1:15 Behold, thou art fair, my love; behold, thou art fair; thou hast doves' eyes.
Song of Solomon 1:16 Behold, thou art fair, my beloved, yea, pleasant: also our bed is green.
Song of Solomon 1:17 The beams of our house are cedar, and our rafters of fir.[/b][/i]
I don’t claim to know this song well.

My thinking is that God chose to give this song to Solomon because he was given the wisdom to understand the creation of God in a spiritual way.
This spiritual understanding is set contrary to the book of Ecclesiastes. In the book of Ecclesiastes we find the wisdom of Solomon proving that wisdom alone is not sufficient unto salvation. Instead his wisdom laid bare the futility of life under the sun for all creatures. For ultimately all perish without assurance of salvation. And all paths end with the same death.

But in the Song of Solomon we find spiritual understanding married to observable things under the sun. And this seems wrong to many because of the pronounced sin of idolatry that was manifest in Solomon’s life.
But, I think that Solomon found salvation and that his Song of Songs is the fruit of it.

Yet, when looking st this song I am forced to question what the purpose of the book is. Not that I question its spiritual knowledge but, it is a mysterious book to my way of thinking.

Is it prophetic and will it be useful to the saints at the right time in the future?
Is it useful now by presenting spiritual insights not well known?

My sense is that it expresses understanding of how Jesus... draws... his bride towards fullness of spiritual intimacy with Jesus.

The intimacy of relationship between Jesus and his bride requires analogy to intimacy man on earth, under the sun, can comprehend. So, that is how I understand the song. But, the intimacy throws many readers off track if they aren’t sure of the spiritual truths hidden in the metaphors and analogies of the song.

When I post back I will attempt to explain my approach to understanding the first chapter. This is so all can critique it. For I already see I have mistead some of it. So I put by any critic will be useful to me. Thanks for consideration.

I posted the whole chapter first so as to facilitate discussion with respect to thoughts I have presented on it. That way the whole chapter can provide context for criticism or insights.

Zowie! And, guess what. What the MW commentary online says does not compare to what the eSword commentary by Henry. Apparently he had a shorter one and a longer one. Reading that makes me think my quiet uncle just got very talkative. lol

Here's the shorten version. (Much quicker to process. lol)
Song of Solomon 1:7-8

Observe the title given to Christ, O Thou whom my soul loveth. Those that do so, may come to him boldly, and may humbly plead with him. Is it with God's people a noon-time of outward troubles, inward conflicts? Christ has rest for them. Those whose souls love Jesus Christ, earnestly desire to share in the privileges of his flock. Turning aside from Christ is what gracious souls dread more than anything else. God is ready to answer prayer. Follow the track, ask for the good old way, observe the footsteps of the flock, look what has been the practice of godly people. Sit under the direction of good ministers; beside the tents of the under shepherds. Bring thy charge with thee, they shall all be welcome. It will be the earnest desire and prayer of the Christian, that God would so direct him in his worldly business, and so order his situation and employment, that he may have his Lord and Saviour always before him.
Interesting that you have the shorter version.

I hit too much to do, and the study seems to interfere with my studying. I'm afraid I'm going to have to withdraw. Sorry about that.

What does that mean that the bride has not kept her "own vineyard" and her brothers are angry about it?
I see it as "Others might look at me as if I'm good for nothing more than tending vineyards (and forced me to keep theirs) but that's not how I see myself... In fact, I hired someone else to keep mine just so I could start doing those more important things :)"

Kind of like how David was disdained by his brother in 1 Samuel 17:14-30; but David refused to be intimidated. When you read it notice how hard Eliab tried to belittle David and to make him look worthless in the eyes of others.

Nowadays I think we would say David's initial reply this way "What have I done now?"
