I copied this from another post. Great question!!! Can all 66 Books be taken as the infallible, inerrant Word of God? Or do we dismiss some: Torah, Creation, heck Johna really 3 days in a wheal(great fish)....?

A big fish is not that big a deal considering the universe stopping....

Joshua 10:13 And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.

Think about it, for that to occur the entire universe came to a halt.... what a mighty God we serve!!!

Which is not a big deal when you consider the fact that God spoke the universe into existence.

Yes, all is God's Word and it will one day call our character into question.

True Christians do not dismiss any of those 66 books, or any part of any of those books.

But there are learned men, scholars, critics, theologians, pastors, and teachers who have been infected with the virus of Theological Liberalism. They question everything, including Jonah in the belly of the whale and the resurrection of Christ.

All 66 Books are the Word of God and should not be dismissed..

If one believes that God exists then Creation and Jonah in the whale for 3 days is child's play for God..

If a person does not believe God exists then such things are a fantasy and impossible..

People who want to cut out parts of the Bible that require belief in Gods existence really need to take a look at themselves..

What is a lie?
According to my dad's definition it is conscious misleading of someone, weather with our words or with our silence or our acts.

With words it would be
It wasn't me (but in fact, it was me) or I love your shoes (but actually I think they are most hideous thing I have ever saw)

With silence it would be
Those women or men who are dating someone and "forgot" to mention that they are in fact married, and when it comes out, they argue, that they didn't lie, bcs nobody ever asked them about it..

With acts
Pretending to going to hug someone and then slap them

With what you are talking about, we don't actually question God, but rather the details of story, or certain events. I do not think that it is something what really matters.

There was an event described in John 7:8-10 which could be by some interpreted as a lying.
Also in Exodus 3:8.
Would like to hear any opinions on that.

None of the 77 books of the library called "Bible" should be simply "dismissed", but not all of them are inspired, useful or preserved on the same level.

While Genesis, Isaiah or Psalms are used very frequently, Song of Songs, Esther, Lamentations are never mentioned in the New Testament.

On the other hand, Enoch, Assumption of Moses are quoted or used and they are not in Jewish OT canon.

So we should not be very rigid regarding this, IMHO.

Of course, God cannot lie, such a question is silly.

According to some, all 66 books must be read in awkward Elizabethan English or you're actually reading the corrupt words of Satan.

I see that the Book of ENOCH is not included though he 'walked with God ? would not that be a good enough reason ? (not read it myself but heard of it)

Why did you go there?
You go there incessantly, and she described your teaching perfectly: It's what you tell others in nearly every thread you respond to. Own it.

Not to mention that surviving in the belly of a whale seems much easier than dead men coming back to life! In fact, there is no miracle more amazing than that! If you would scoff at a man surviving in the belly of a whale or a donkey talking, then you're a complete idiot for believing you will come to life again one day...

Sometimes It seems like scripures contradict each other though.
What should we do when that seems to be the case?
It only seems that way!
But, yes, it can take a fair bit of studying to work out the apparent contradictions...

It depends on what you mean by dismiss.

There are some things in the bible that the Lord Jesus Christ has delivered us from.

So in that way we are told to not be entangled in them again.

So in a way we are dismissing the old (literal) so we can live in the new (spirit),

That doesn't mean that we can just tear pages out of the bible. They just take on real meaning when we come to Christ and they are no longer our own carnal understanding...

You can get The Book of Enoch. I have one. It's highly unlikely that it was written by Enoch himself. It doesn't date back that far.
It's not really worth the effort though there isn't anything inspired about it.

Only in defense or those threads dealing with God's word specifically.
