Jesus said, “Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer isnigh: So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled” (Matt. 24:32-34).

Several Bible verses identify Israel as the Fig Tree (Hos. 9:10; Jer. 24:1-7).

Some prophecy teachers call the generation that sees all of the signs being fulfilled “the terminal generation” (the last generation of Christians or the generation of Christians that is alive when the Rapture takes place).

There are different ideas about the length of a generation and when to start counting on the terminal generation (1948, 1967); but some prophecy teachers believe a generation is 70 and perhaps up to 80 years (Psa. 90:1-10), and some start their countdown on May 14, 1948 when Israel (the Fig Tree) became a nation again.

Concerning this, Hal Lindsey recently made an interesting statement, “No matter how you define a “generation” (and there are multiple definitions), 70 years means that the major part of it has passed and there can’t be much left.”

This is the point: No one knows the day or the hour, but everyone needs to be aware of the possibility that it is very close and the importance of being ready.

First, the destruction of Damascus (War between Israel and Syria; Isa. 17), the destruction of Iran’s nuclear reactor (Elam; Jer. 49:34-39), and the Battle of Gog and Magog (Russia, Iran and others attacking Israel; Ezek. 38-39) could be very close. If they are, this would be a clear sign that the latter days and latter years have arrived.

Russia is threatening to deploy some of its latest state of the art missiles (the S-300 system) around Damascus and some of Syria’s airports. Israel said if those missiles are used against Israeli jets, Israel will blow them up.

Israel’s Ambassador to the UN recently told the UN Security Council that Iran controls 80,000 Shiite militants in Syria that have been trained at a military base slightly more than five miles from Damascus.

On Apr. 26, 2018, U.S. Sec. of Defense James Mattis told a U.S. congressional committee he believes “a military confrontation between Israel and Iran in Syria is becoming increasingly likely.”

The next day, it was reported that there are rising concerns at the Pentagon that Iran could strike Israel “in the coming days.”

An aircraft carrier, the USS Harry S. Truman, was ordered to stay on alert in the area.

On Apr. 29, 2018, U.S. Sec. of State Mike Pompeo visited Israeli Prime Min. Benjamin Netanyahu.

Mr. Pompeo expressed strong U.S. support for Israel’s right to defend itself and apparently gave permission for Israel to take on Iran in Syria if Israel needs to.

That night (Apr. 29, 2018), Israel struck several military bases in Syria. It was reported that 26 troops (perhaps 18 Iranians) were killed and about 60 others (Lebanese, Iraqis, Pakistanis and troops from Afghanistan) were wounded.
One explosion was powerful enough to register 2.6 on the Richter scale. The New York Times reported that 200 Iranian missiles exploded.

The next morning (Apr. 30, 2018), Prime Min. Netanyahu placed an unusual call to Pres. Trump. Then, a large number of Israeli weapons were spotted heading north. Then, Mr. Netanyahu convened an emergency meeting of his security cabinet.

That night, Mr. Netanyahu addressed the Israeli people. He revealed that Israeli Mossad agents had gone into Iran and captured thousands of Iranian documents and CD’s that prove Iran is lying about its efforts to develop nuclear warheads.
Needless to say, the Ayatollah and some of his Mullahs are very upset.

Several excellent prophecy teachers believe Mr. Netanyahu was giving Pres. Trump and world leaders the information they need to justify their withdrawal from the Iranian nuclear weapons deal and to justify an attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities if Iran restarts them.

It is impossible to predict how all of this will play out (a limited skirmish; or the destruction of Damascus; or the destruction of Iran’s nuclear reactor; or an incident that leads to the Battle of Gog and Magog, or what); but the situation is boiling, and many prophecy teachers think Hezbollah, Iran or Israel could soon launch a pre-emptive strike. The possibility exists that all of these things will be fulfilled before it ends.

Second, for whatever it is worth, Pres. Trump’s deadline for world leaders to fix or nix the Iranian nuclear agreement will be up on May 12, 2018.

Pres. Trump has said that he won’t renew the agreement, Iran is threatening war if he doesn’t, and France is saying war is a possibility.

The Ayatollah wants to trigger the Tribulation Period and help his Mahdi win the Mother of all Battles (Battle of Armageddon).

Third, concerning a peace treaty, in Dec. 2017 it was reported that some Arab nations were telling PA Pres. Mahmoud Abbas and the PA leadership to stop criticizing Pres. Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and to get on board with his proposed Middle East Peace Plan.

Some reports said Mr. Abbas and the PA leadership were told that if they didn’t cooperate, they could be replaced with people who would cooperate.

Mr. Abbas and his team of leaders aren’t cooperating – and they are citizens of Jordan, not Israel.

No reason was given, but on Apr. 25, 2018, it was reported that King Abdullah II of Jordan has notified Mr. Abbas and his team that they will soon be stripped of their Jordanian citizenship.

It is unclear how this will impact Pres. Trump’s peace proposal, but Mr. Abbas and his leaders will soon be visitors in Jordan, not citizens of Jordan, and the Temple Mount is currently under the control of King Abdullah of Jordan.

On Apr. 30, 2018, it was reported that Pres. Trump will probably release an outline of his peace plan shortly after the U.S. embassy is moved to Jerusalem on May 14, 2018.

The word “shortly” is vague, but it indicates that a peace proposal that at least some Arabs seem willing to accept could be on the table soon. The response of Israel, Iran and others remains to be seen.

Fourth, the fact that Israel could hack into thousands of Iranian documents is evidence that world leaders will soon have the ability to track buying and selling.

Fifth, on Apr. 25, 2018, it was reported that the U.S. will place a Mezuzah (a small case or tube with a very tiny parchment scroll inside) on the doorpost at the entrance to America’s new embassy in Jerusalem.

The words of God found in Deut. 6:4-9 and 11:13-21 will be written on the scroll, and one of the names of God (Shaddai) will be visible through a small opening in the case or tube.

The meaning of Shaddai is vague, but some think it means “God is the Guardian of the Gates of Israel.”

Mezuzahs are used to remind those that enter and leave a building that the Jews have a covenant with God and the occupants of the building observe a special set of God-given rules, rituals and beliefs.

Posting a Mezuzah on the doorpost of the U.S. embassy won’t enhance America’s relationship with God, but it is good to have a government that understands what a Mezuzah is and that it is willing to place God’s name and portions of Holy Scripture on the doorpost.

No one knows, but I believe the terminal generation has arrived, and God will bless those that bless Israel. It is possible that God has placed many conservative Christians in the current administration for such a time as this, and it is good for America to be on Israel’s side.

"Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near.
Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened."

The "terminal generation" was the one Jesus lived in. Thats why "this" and not "that" generation.

In 70 AD Romans destroyed Jerusalem. The end of the Old covenant with israel (fig tree) has come. The summer has begun.

IMHO.

Has the Terminal Generation Arrived? :: By Daymond Duck - Rapture Ready
Isaiah 17 was fulfilled over 2700 years ago when the city-kingdom of Damascus was eliminated forever by the Assyrians in 732 BC. That prophecy speaks also about the destruction of Israel, which occurred in 722 BC (by the Assyrians).

Revelation says that the Gog/Magog war happens after the 1000-year reign of Christ.

There already are S-300 systems in Syria that Russia uses to defend its interests. Russia will likely give them to Syria as well.

Notwithstanding, this probably is the last generation.

i do believe we are in the last days, the birth pangs are upon us, but whether this is last generation or not i do not know.

It means we need to win the lost and be more proactive in evangelism more than ever before though. Because if all this is true, the end as we inow it is newr

Don't be alarmed at what is happening in the world, it has nothing to do with those prophesies, just satan's lies for those that are not steadfast. Wars and Rumors of wars must happen but still the end will not come; the signs of the end times are not visible signs but signs that require wisdom and spirit of interpretation of prophesy for understanding.

Daniel prophesied about a timeline and Jesus refers us back to this timeline so that whoever understands it, also understands the times and seasons we are in. Jesus did not leave us without tools, so we shouldn't be shooting in the dark.

The end of the age is calculable and if calculated correctly, it is what the angel in Daniel also prophesied "...until 2300 evenings and mornings, the the sanctuary shall be restored..."

Trust me, we have 282 years and everything shall be done.

Has the Terminal Generation Arrived? :: By Daymond Duck - Rapture Ready

When hubby was young, (and hubby is 71 years old now), and married to first wife, (and understand I am #1 wife, but NOT first wife lol), his BIL's mom died in her old age. Hubby helped him clean out his mother's house.

The mother had a mansion with a huge bay window. Under the window was a three-part chest with cushions on it, so people could sit at the window, if they wanted. And inside that/those massive chest(s) were "Christian tracts" preaching about "the rapture."/"End times." Fake-church history in one long chest.

The tracts spread from WWI to the mid 60s. (She died in the 70s, so apparently she stopped collecting them a decade before she died.) That is most of them were written before the country we still call Israel became a country again. And yet, they were able to do the same thing Daymond Duck is still doing -- take modern political situations and turn it into "Signs the end is nigh."

I remember being a new Christian and being taught that the USSR was Gog or Magog. (Can't remember which now. Don't care.) Whoa! Apparently, they were wrong because there is no USSR anymore. Matter of fact, there was no USSR nor Russia back when the Bible was written. The most northern country known at that time by the NT writers is now called Crimea. Southwest of Russia.

Personally, I think all this stuff is crap -- a way to avoid the real gospel/the real God and yet still pretend it's kind of about him. Talk about God, rather than care about God.

That's not ready. That's virgins gossiping into the night before noticing the oil in the lamps went out.

The oil was the important part of that story. The oil is the Holy Spirit keeping us ready for the bridegroom. This stuff is merely a distraction to keep us from being ready and has been going on for 200 years now -- well beyond the original "terminal generation" no matter how you define "generation."

"There will be wars and rumors of wars". Can you name one period of time when there was not "wars and rumors of wars"? Maybe Jesus was emphasizing the fact that he used when he told his disciples that "no one knows the day or the hour". I think he said that he would "come as a thief in the night". It could be in the next blink of our eyes, or in many more years. We need to be ready.

Coming as a thief is only with regards to certain people and not everyone:

1 Thess 5:3While people are saying, “Peace and security,” destruction will come upon them suddenly, like labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. 4But you, brothers, are not in the darkness so that this day should overtake you like a thief.

And Jesus also comes as the kingdom of God- so now the kingdom is being built, people being added one at a time and when it is done and the number that is predetermined is all in, then the end comes. It is the end of the age that we are waiting because when the kingdom of God/New Jerusalem is presented, that is what we call the return of the Lord.

The time of this event is not eminent, it is very much calculable - the reason Jesus referred us back to Daniel. Daniel has a timeline up to the end of age.

What if Jesus returns 88 years after Israel becomes a nation?
What if Jesus started his ministry at about age 30, Luke 3:23, and what if he returns about 2030 years after his birth?
Do the math of 2/7 times 1/95.
You will find the age Methuselah begat and the age he died, the last digit in the answer becomes the first digit in the repeat.
In other words, 0030 becomes 2030.
How to interpret these numbers?
2030 Jewish years of 360 days equals 2000 years plus 300 days of 365.25 day per year
so 2000 years plus 300 days from the crucifixion is the same as 2030 Jewish years from the crucifixion which is approximately 2030 AD which may be the beginning of the Flood of tribulation, Methuselah died in the year of the Genesis Flood..
But what does it matter?
We won't know how to interpret the math until after He returns.
The math is based on Revelation 2:10.
10 day / crown of life = the lengths of the tribulation / 1000 years.
solve for the crown of life for each length of the trib.

When Israel once again reformed as a nation and Jerusalem was back in the hands of their rightful owners, the Jews, you knew the times of the Gentiles was about to come to an end as God once again focuses back on Israel and the Jews, so yes, this is the terminal generation.
(We don't need to even bring up the state of immorality rivaling Sodom and Gomorrah or murders of the innocent rivaling Noah's days).

If Jesus returns 88 years after Israel becomes a nation he returned 1600 +/- years before he came as a man. Whoa! Holy Time Machine, Batman!

The Assyrians didn't destroy Damascus which according to Isaiah 17 would become a heap of ruins. That's why Centuries later Paul made his way there and up till now Assad has been living there or is he living in one of the alleged ruins?
If we are to have a sensible discussion lets at least get our facts straight.

I don't know whether this is a terminal generation and neither does anyone else not even Hal Lindsay. The Prophecy about the fig tree concerns the end of the old testament age that happened as Jesus predicted with the destruction of the Temple and Jerusalem in 70AD. That's why he cursed one because it had only leaves and no fruit. It symbolized Israels spiritual condition at that time which has remained the same ever since

IMHO.
Like with many words the counterfeiter as the father of lies desires to turnthings upside down in order to make the word of God without effect.

The "terminal generation" is the generationof Adam as in all die.

Its lineage begins with Adam found in Luke 3. The generationof Christ begins being typified by Abraham in respect to the eternal seed,Christ’s. It is shown in Mathew 1 ending.. with the Son of man; Jesus

One backward the other forward both meeting at the cross.

Which was the son of Enos, which was the son of Seth, which was the son of Adam, which was the son of God.
Luke 3:38 King James Version (KJV)

The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham. Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat Judas and his brethren; Matthew1:1 King James Version (KJV)

I would offer the instant when the veil was rent, it put an end to using the outward Jews in parable as shadows of Christ to come. Thetime of reformation had come restoring order the government of the period of Judges before there were Kings in Israel.

This is when the outward Jews gathered together without God’s approval and rejectedGod reigning by faith (the unseen eternal) from heaven in the hearts of men. He told Samuel the last Judge; it’snot you they reject as King but rather almighty God who remains without form .The same remains today on the wailing wall.

The remaining stones after the veil was rent held no value, not even till 70 A.D. just as do they not hold any redeeming value today.

If this in indeed true, how come we are not living in the New Heavens and the New Earth wherein there is ABSOLUTELY NO SIN OR EVIL OR WICKEDNESS of any kind?

At the same time, to call this generation the terminal generation leaves much to be desired. The building of the temple at Jerusalem would have to become a reality. It is simply in the planning stages.

The Greek word genea can also mean a race or a nation. So the secular nation of Israel will not pass away until all is fulfilled, meaning the second coming of Christ and what lies beyond. Then it will become the kingdom of Israel under Christ.

You are connecting together things out of context. Jesus was not talking about the new earth in the verse. He was talking about the new age, the age of gospel, the age of Spirit, the age of revealed Christ, the age of the final body of Church.

Not really. "Terminal Generation" as in the OP is as follows" Some prophecy teachers call the generation that sees all of the signs being fulfilled “the terminal generation” (the last generation of Christians or the generation of Christians that is alive when the Rapture takes place)

You said the terminal general was the one present at the time of Christ. This is similar to the Preterist idea. So if (according to Preterists) the Second Coming occurred in 70 AD, then we should now be in the New Heaven and the New Earth. That is the sequence in Revelation 19-22.

The OP (and you too) got the wrong impress that Jesus was talking about the last generation living on this planet.

He would use "that generation".

He used "this generation shall not pass until..." therefore He was talking about something else.

Your claim that Jesus was using the term race or nation makes no sense. He uses the same word in other places when talking to the Jewish leaders. In those places its clear that he is not talking about a race so why insist he does only in Matthew 24.
Also history shows that the nation did pass away for over 2000 years. Being Jewish is nothing to do with race either. Its to do with religion. I was born English. If I wanted to become Jewish I could convert at any time. My racial origin would still be English afterwards.

Israel can build wall to wall Temples but none of them will be Holy. Christ has replaced the Temple. He also became the sacrificial Lamb, The High Priest and King at his first coming and still is. We don't need a revived Temple and sacrificial system to remind us of his work at Calvary. He left us the Eucharist to do that. If a stone Temple had any merit God would have prevented the last one being destroyed or at least had a replacement built soon after as he did in regard to Solomon's Temple. Come to that there would have been no need for Christs crucifixion either. Israel could just continue to kill sheep.
