Hi, I have an homework assignment with a total of 5 questions.
What do you think about the Old Testament of the Bible?
Should we even read it?
Have you ever read the Old Testament? Why?
What do you know about the Old Testament? A favorite character.
Do you think the Old Testament has anything of value to offer us?

1. It's awesome!

2. You should definitely read it.

3. Yes I have. Why? Well you can't really read the whole Bible if you skip over half of it lol.

4. The Old Testament is a collection of writings before Jesus. It describes the first half of the history of all the earth, all the people on earth, all the great heroes of the faith, and how everything progressed from the first day of creation to the coming of the days of the Messiah, Jesus. The Old Testament describes very well the nature of God the Father, his love for Israel, his promises, his prophecies, and his glorious might and power so that all people may know that he is the Lord the only God.

As for favorite character, so hard to say especially for the Old Testament since that's where a lot of the most famous biblical characters are. If I were forced to pick just one though, I guess I'll say Elijah.

5. The Old Testament has tremendous value. It has a lot of value for study, for history, for encouragement, and even just frankly value as a piece of literature that is just enjoyable to read.

I would say the opposite is true.

If we do not read the New Testament, we will never understand the Old one. Which is the case of Jews.

I believe that we don't come to a full understanding by neglecting either. :)

a. The O.T. is like the rear sights on a gun and the N.T. like the front sights....without both you cannot shoot straight....and like Magenta said...the Old is the New it types and shadows and lays the foundation for the truths revealed in the NEW.

b. YES, read it, study it and glean many wonderful truths out of it......

c. YES, studied through it numerous times and use it regularly (along with the N.T.) to come to solid truths

d. HAHA....to answer this question would take pages and pages of text.....too many characters to pick one....I suppose we should all say God, because the O.T. begins to reveal him to humanity.....

e. YES indeed....many wonderful gems to be dug out including the fact that grace and mercy are woven through it like a silver cord stretched across the history and time recorded therein.

There is no way we could have the New Testament alone as a Bible, without the Old Testament as part of that Bible.

Out of the mouth of 2 or 3 witnesses let everything be established.

The Old Testament testifies of the New Testament, which Jesus quoted the Old Testament.

The Old Testament testifies that God is true more than the New Testament, although the New testifies of that also.

God said in Isaiah 41 to produce your cause, and bring forth your strong reasons, and prove that your god is true by telling the end from the beginning, which God told us the whole history of mankind in the Old Testament from the time of Adam and Eve until the transgressors are come to the full, and the nations are together to try to establish peace on earth, and bring about a kingdom that acknowledges no personal God, but the God of forces, or the power of nature as their higher power, and God puts them down.

God also told us how things came about in the Old Testament that He created all things, and the saints dwelling with Him for eternity in the Old Testament.

If there was not the Old Testament would people believe the New Testament, but with the Old Testament we know for a surety that the New Testament is true, for the Old Testament told us what the New Testament reveals, and the Old Testament even goes in to more information concerning prophesy, and of the end time.

In the Old Testament God told us of every kingdom that would come about, 1.Egypt 2.Assyria 3.Babylon 4. Medo-Persia 5.Greece 6.Roman Empire who does not lose their dominion until God puts the world down. 7.The ten horn kingdom who comes from the Roman Empire, the world split in to ten sections with a leader in each section. 8.The little horn who comes from the ten horns, the man of sin, the beast, and the New Age Christ.

Daniel did not understand what was told him but was told to go his way for he could not understand, but when they get to the end time they will understand, because many shall run to and fro, advanced travel, and knowledge shall be increased, advanced technology, allowing the saints to be able to see, and hear, and know, what is going on in the world, and how they can come together as one to try to establish peace on earth, which they will end up rebelling against God.

I read through the Bible, and the New Testament is the ultimate goal, but it seems more enjoyable to read the Old Testament.

If one were to read through the Old Testament, but not through the New having no knowledge of it, and one were to read through the New Testament, but not the Old, having no knowledge of it, what would give them a better understanding of God, and His nature, and His ways, and to understand prophesy to believe He is real.

I would have to say the Old Testament, for we have the tale of creation, all the history of mankind, all the way to the saints being with God forever.

How many people would believe the New Testament if the Old Testament was not included.

I tend to believe not as many would believe the New Testament if the Old Testament was not part of the Bible, and unknown.

But it is not possible, for the Old Testament is a part of the Bible, and can be no different.

You need to know the Old Testament, God hatered of sin, His judgement of sin and His holy standard the Law to understand the Gospel. If you have not been shown sin through the Law you will not fully understand the forgiveness of the Gospel.

Hi, I have an homework assignment with a total of 5 questions.
What do you think about the Old Testament of the Bible?
Awesome to read a record of 4000 years of Gods interaction with people and the culture and ways people existed through those times..

Should we even read it?
Yes we should read it because it gives so much meaning to and helps us understand and appreciate the New Testament more..

Have you ever read the Old Testament? Why?
Yep read it all.. When i was about 20 me and a friend at work who was a Christian used to talk about religion and God in general and He gave me a gift of a Bible to read.. So.. I picked it up and read it all. :D and i became a Christian..

What do you know about the Old Testament? A favorite character.
Well i have read it all.. May favorite person in the OT was King David, he was a faulty human being with weaknesses..
( especially for woman ) but he did have strong Faith ( trust ) in God and had a very close relationship with God,, like a Father Son relationship, to me David was a Christian before there where Christians.. And coming in a very close second place was the prophet Daniel.. I loved his awesome confidence in God and how God made Him virtually indestructible.

Do you think the Old Testament has anything of value to offer us?
Yes indeed i do.. It adds much depth to ones understanding of God and of human beings..

You need to answer this (more than 5 questions) for yourself, but sure, I’ll share my answer with you...

1 What do I think of the Old Testament?
Some parts I think are awesome- such as creation and the inspiring stories of real characters. And some parts are the worst experiences (not just readings, cause they pierced my soul) that I’ve ever had in my life- such as Lamentations. Parents cooking and eating thier own children is the most horrific thing next to crucifying Christ. It also saddened my heart to see God’s wrath come on His own people when they turned away from His statutes- which is also in Revelation “Come out of her My pepole, or you will also share in her wrath.” Many things started there are still here today- such as the first judicial system, and the seven year debt release.

2 Should we read it?
Of Course. We cannot understand the New Testament without the Old Testament. The physical things there represented (or were a shadow of) the spiritual things in the New Testament. Just like we cannot understand a spiritual King of Kings if we don’t first understand a physical king. We may not be under God’s physical law anymore, but we still need it to understand how to obey God’s laws spiritually. For example, if you hate your brother you are already guilty of murder.

God’s law was obeyed physically in the Old Testament, and those same laws must still be obeyed today, but spiritually. Love (which is spiritual not physical) fulfills all the laws that the Old Testament prophets told us of, because if you love God and your brother you will not murder him or steal from him. No one has to give you a physical list of rules- like to not take a knife and plunge it into your brother’s heart, cause if you love you automatically won’t anyways.

3 Have I ever read the Old Testament?
Yes, and I still do- just like I read the New Testament.

4 Why do I read the Old Testament?
Because it is part of God’s Word. But also because I want to. I can’t imagine if someone was able to take from my brain information about creation, and every thought that has stemmed from that throughout my life, nor anything else I’ve learned from the Old Testament. Being able to compare the physical from the Old Testament to the spiritual in the New Testament helps me to understand God better. And I want to know Him more than I want anything else.

5 What do I know about the Old Testament?
I think it would be easier to ask what I don’t know about the Old Testament because that is way too much to write. But then again, lol, how can I tell you what I don’t know?

6 Who is my favorite bible character from the Old Testament?
Oh Joseph, by far. It is the last story in Genesis.

7 Do I think the Old Testament has anything of value to offer us today?
Absolutely! I have already mentioned many things. The biggest thing, in my opinion, is I take value in knowing how hard it was to live under God’ Law physically, and can therefore appreciate what Christ did by nailing the physical law to the cross, forevermore amen!

The New without the Old is like a body without feet.

The Old without the New is like a house without a roof.
