I often find myself torn from my usual easy-going, wordly self by a thought to remember those who are hurting and in need. As a Christian I think its important not to forget for too long our suffering brothers and sisters. It brings our minds back down to earth and helps us realize just how precious and fragile life is, and also shows us how blessed we truly are and how much we take for granted.

I find that a part of me wants to be that fun, interesting guy that people enjoy being around, but another part of me wants to live like a saint - devoted to prayer and selfless in character and works of charity.

Maybe there's a way to be both, I don't know. I certainly need to be more saintlike and less worldly in my ways. This is something I need to work on.
