I go to a new christian church and was wondering, if i wanted to get a bible and read it, should i get the whole bible or just the New Testament?

I wanted one of the new bibles which is updated to and simplified to nowaday language so its easier to read.

Get the WHOLE thing. There is much of the NT that relates to the OT. I would suggest the New American Standard BIble, study version because it gives footnotes and additional, historical info that helps the reader to understand exactly what was going on.

I recommend you get a whole Bible and start reading the New Testament. The New American Standard and New International Version are good to begin with.

You can cross reference it with the King James and New King James as you get better handling the Word of God. Beware the cults! They will seek to lead you into their error.

Feel free to PM me with any questions you have. Peace and God bless you richly on your journey into a new life with Christ. :)

I'm a King James man.
I found this really great large print King James Bible for ten dollars at Family Dollar Store. What I like about this Bible is some of the harder words to understand have a modern English word for them at the end of the verse. It also has other things as well to aid in Bible study. Definitely get a complete Bible and read the whole thing because the old testament is just as important to study as the New.

Hehe.. beware of Greeks bearing gifts!

In all seriousness; however, he's right that progressing to the point where you can read the New Testament in Greek is the way to go :)

Ask 100 people, get 100 different answers.
Go to a Christian bookstore and LOOK at the various Bibles and ask the Lord which one you should get. Trust your instincts....it's the Holy Spirit.

Get the whole Bible. It would be incomplete to get the NT without the OT.
