In order to understand why jesus had to be born of a virgin we must understand the creation. We were TAUGHT that we all come from one man, Adam. But is this true? The Bible says that on the 6th day he made man BOTH MALE AND FEMALE, HE MADE THEM! The Adam discussed in the 6th day was plural. This Adam or mankind was NOT given a commandment. He (They were) given dominion over EVERY MOVING THING on the planet! He (they) were also blessed and told to multiply, replenish the earth and SUBDUE IT! The second man (Adam) was FORMED on the Sabbath day! He was made in the image of Man and was given the breath of life! This man was placed in the paradise of God, but where the first Adam (mankind) received dominion and blessings to multiply, this Adam (man), made apart from the creation on the seventh day, received first a commandment not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. God then FORMS the animals for this Adam to name. We should know the rest of the story but when the second Adam transgressed the commandment given to him, he lost the status of being set apart. He became SUBJECT TO THE 6 DAY CREATION! And as a subject to it, now was ruled by the first Adam (mankind) who was given dominion! The second Adam, now being put under subjection to sin by the breaking of the commandment, and then further subjected by the first Adam (mankind), thus brought sin instead of righteousness to the creation! So Jesus being born of a virgin had nothing to do with being a sinner from birth! If Jesus had been born by the union of a man and a woman, BY LAW THE FIRST ADAM (MANKIND) WOULD HAVE DOMINION OVER HIM! He was born of a virgin to be place under the law. But also of the spirit to be again SET APART FROM CREATION. The first Adam (mankind) did NOT have dominion over him! As was in Eden with Adam (the man), is now restored in the TRUE IMAGE of the person of Jesus!

umm, one problem. What about Mary , she was from Adam's bloodline.

Yes, but as part of God's preparation for His coming, He cleansed her of sin prior to her birth, You'll note that when the Archangel Gabriel greets her, he uses the phrases, "full of grace". In Greek that is written as "Kecharitomene" Now in the the original Greek, it's a particularly unique tense that's used, not generally found in the English language. It's the perfect passive participle form of charitoo. In a sense, one could translate Gabriel's greeting as, "Hail Mary, you who are and have always been filled with grace, the Lord is with you."

She was saved from the damage caused by Adam's sin in a unique way to prepare her for her unique role in God's plan of salvation. Whereas you and I are saved after we were stained by Adam's sin, she was saved before it could affect her. :)
