And I saw in the right hand of Hm who sat on the throne a book written inside and on the back, sealed up with seven seals. And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, "Who is worthy to open the book and to break the seals?" And no one in heaven, or on the earth, or under the earth, was able to open the book, or to look into it; and one of the elders said to me, "Stop weeping; behold, the Lion that is from the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has overcome so as to open the book and its seven seals." And I saw between the throne (with the four living creatures) and the elders a Lamb standing, as if slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God, sent out into all the earth. And He came, and He took it out of the right hand of Him who sat on the throne. And when He had taken the book, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, having each one a harp, and with golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the Saints.

What is it about this passage that is significant? To John, while seeing this, the book was important, but we cannot see the book. And to the elders it was that One was found worthy to open the book, the Lamb who has overcome. But to me it was that God was on His throne, and He handed out the book in His own hand, and the Lamb was the one who took it from Him. He took it out of the right hand of the One who was sitting on the throne.

God is who we worship. We worship Jesus, because He is worthy of our worship. He gave Himself for us, laid down His life on His own initiative, and took it up again so that we could become alive to God in Him. Listen closely to those words, "Alive to God in Him." For we were separated from God, being His enemy, dead in our sins, until Jesus brought us to a place of reconciliation, with God. Jesus is God, indeed, He was with God in the beginning, (that means that He pre-existed creation,) and He remains God, even though He has taken on flesh.

But Paul goes and makes things difficult, by saying that Jesus is the image of the invisible God, the first-born of all creation. And right here is where we have missed the revelation of Jesus; He became part of creation. Think about this. God, who is the Creator, sent His Son to become part of the creation which He created through Him. Just to save us.

For it was the Father's good pleasure for all the fullness to dwell in Him, and though Him to reconcile all things to Himself, having made peace through the blood of His cross; through Him, I say, whether things on earth or things in heaven.

God chose to have the fullness of the Godhead to dwell in Jesus, so that through His blood, he could reconcile all things to Himself.

And though you were formerly alienated and hostile in mind, engaged in evil deeds, yet He has now reconciled you in His fleshly body through death, in order to present you before Him holy and blameless and beyond reproach-

In other words, God was in Jesus reconciling the creation back to Himself.

Worthy art Thou to take the book, and to break its seals; for Thou was slain, and didst purchase for God with Thy blood men from every tribe and tongue and people and nation. And Thou hast made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God; and they will reign upon the earth.

All I ask is that we think and pray about these things. For it is obvious that we are reconciled to the Father through His Son.

Blessings in His love,
vic
