Conviction simply means having The Spirit of God inside you , steering you and guiding you into all Righteousness.

We all have convictions within us. Mine may be different on certain things then yours. We all know not to Sin, or defy God's Word. Are there any personal convictions someone may have, that you can name that you deem important? Less important?

I think that conviction of sin is most important.
It's the place where you get the choice to repent or turn your back to God.

If I look at the way God loves...
He doesn't just say sweet words like we easily say to each other. His words are always true and tested and they stand the fire of eternity.
They're like pure gold and bright that they nearly reflect the being of God.
His words are like a two-edged sword that distinguishes a lie from the truth... They show you who you truly are in Him... They're the words where we can cling on with all our confidence with the knowledge and faith that they are true because our God is faithful and righteous.
There is none like Him...

If we look at how God speaks to Laodicea... He's not cursing them yet, He's convicting them of sins to give them a chance to repent.
15

I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
16

So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
17

Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
18

I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.
19

As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
20

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
21

To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.
22

He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
Revelation 3:15-22 (KJV)

Every time He rebukes me and convicts me of my sin, it's just a prove of His love to me and a great relief too because I get the chance to repent from my sins and to run to His sanctuary. :')

Much love in Christ

Thank you for your input, well said! Are there any personal convictions you can name?

Example: I know a Brother who has a deep rooted conviction about eating in Restaurants that serve Alcohol. It is his own personal conviction. I beleive. Alcoholic behavior runs In his family , maybe in his former life? So he doesn't want to be at
Around places that serve Alcohol.

I personally don't have that conviction and I was an Alcoholic in denial 25 years ago. Others may have a different conviction, etc, etc.

God has recently begun to convict me about soda, not that I think others should not drink it, but He wants me to stop because of health reasons I guess. Also me and my wife have been called to a live of prayer, fasting, and simplicity. Anything that has power over me such as soda needs to be eliminated from my life.

P.S. did you get my last p.m. Ricke?

What would it be called to believe sin should be defended because the world (media, schools) tells you it is the right thing to do, it couldn't be of God so it couldn't be conviction.

These people described in this verse have there own ungodly convictions.

1 Peter 4:3 *For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:
4 *¶Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:

I think of conviction as dedication to a belief.

A conviction of mine has been that you will find peace of mind through righteousness. I think that is why Jesus said, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand” (Matt 4:17). I believe in heaven on earth.

Last conviction I had from the Lord. Was pride. I didn't realize I was doing it. I had gotten in the habbit of saying the Lord answers all of my prayers. I was just just so happy.

One day the Lord showed me that by my saying that, that some other people who weren't getting their prayers answered could be upset at hearing me say that.

And I didn't want to hurt them so I don't say that anymore.

I was convicted of fear for situations and people.
This lays close to pride though because pride thinks it can depend on it's own heart and mind while the bible says that "9The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?" (jereamiah 17:9)
God showed me that fear was a prove of my small faith and how little I trust Him.
He showed me that I didn't think He was big enough to help me through my problems.
He showed me I had to come to Him with all of it instead of running to other people...
I learned that fear is the exact oposite of faith.

The strangest thing is that I'm memorising Psalm 27 at the moment and today I realized it's a psalm of David about His confidence in God.

By the way, if we think about the family of certain characteristics....
Humility and boldness are family just like pride and fear are family...

Anyway, this is one of my many convictions

I think sticking to bible principles is always a good idea. Those are the convictions I have. Although we are not perfect, we can at least attempt to live up to God's standards for us.

We are convicted by our conscience to what is right for we know what is right and wrong, but the Spirit will convict us more than our conscience.

The Bible says how can they hear the truth unless a preacher is sent to them.

That is how God will judge the people who never heard the word of God,by a belief in God,and creation testifies that God is a good God so they should strive to be good, and their conscience.

They cannot be condemned because they never heard the word of God,but creation testifies of the Godhead,God's attributes,so they are without excuse if they do not believe in a God.

They cannot rule with Christ on earth for 1000 years, but at the great white throne judgment, they will be judged, and whosoever is not written in the book of life will be lost, sounding as if some might make it that did not know Jesus.

The Holy Spirit will convict us to what is right, especially in areas where we engaged in sin while in the world.

Before I was saved and Became Blood bought, I was a Huge College Football Fan of A team in The SEC conference. Since 1967... I won't mention their name but they won The National Championship for 2009.

When I was a sinner I went to at least 2-3 of their games every year. Saw them in Two NAtional Championship games in The New Orleans Superdome.

Used to drink Before, during, and After the Game. Scream obscenities at the opposing teams, you name we all did it. It was like it's own Religion, and The "Church Service" was every Saturday.

Well after I got in Church, I have never attended any more of their games. I don't own. Shirt, Hat, decals or flags,

I may listen to them on a radio now and them, or Watch them on TV a couple times, but it no longer is an all consuming obsession like it once was. Nor do I have any desire sit at a game among a bunch of loud mouth drunks cursing etc etc.

David said; I was glad when they said unto me, let us go into the House of The Lord. Amen!

Important Biblical convictions? Of course, all of them. My credo for behavior is to do justly, love mercy and walk humbly.

Personal convictions (those that I can share):
1. Never speak of my wife as anything but one of the most wonderful gifts God has given me.
2. Never speak of my children as anything but a blessing.
3. Never drink alcohol.
4. Never own a gun.
5. Pray for and be respectful to all elected officials, regardless of politics.
6. Never reject anyone's complaint against me. Always consider whether God might be speaking through them.
