Hi Gals and Guys,
Where should the emphasis of preaching, teaching and exhorting be: History, explaining scripture, or exhorting the congregation to follow in Jesus lifestyle. How would you exhort your fellows
Is this how you live?

I think setting a good example might be helpful.

Hi resurrection,
Spot on. If you preach it, live it. Others wise you are chasing people's hearts away. How many people think Christians are a bunch of hypocritical losers. Jesus was just the opposite, an extremely brave courageous man full of love and wisdom as He appeared to those around Him. If you took some of the self-confessed "tough guys" of today, and threw them onto Jesus path, it would not take them long to find a fork in the road.

we should all be doers of the word and not hearers only decieving yourselves col 3/16 let the words of christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom John 8/51 most assuredly I say to you if anyone keeps My words he shall never see death John 8/31 if you abide in My word you are My disciples indeed and you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free John 15/7 if you abide in Me and my words abide in you, you shall ask what you desire and it shall be done for you John 14/24 he who does not love Me does not keep My sayings (his words) if you are not a doer of the word you dont love him according to his word

Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Eph 4:11-13 Seems to me we each have a role that may be different from another's, and yet we are to be equipping/building each other up in the faith to the point of unity while attaining everything Christ has offered us.
