Questions about the conscience

What is a conscience? What is it made of? What makes a conscience weak or strong? Any scriptures or thoughts?

I was thinking about how some people can look or act a certain way and then act another way when it benefits them, I was thinking do these people have a conscience, and what about the head hunters or people who sacrifice there children to false gods by fire or give there children to the world without a fight. The head hunters may believe it is a good thing to chop people's heads off and eat their brains, and believe that they are sinful if they don't.

My life experiences show me that people who ignore what is right lose an essence of who they once were, I was thinking is a conscience part of that essence, and can that essence be changed, can a head hunter learn not to love to hunt heads?

(2Co 3:3) Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.

Now consider this: God Literally Lives in our heart.

Maybe, but what about the people who don't know God? Certain people believe that chopping off people's hands for breaking a rule is a good thing, some people justify themselves to throw acid in their wives faces because they believe there wife wasn't faithful to them and that it was a good thing to do. For much smaller things I (wrongly) justify myself as well sometimes knowingly but usually unknowingly. But is that a conscience or something else?

I think most or all of us think in general that we are good and our attitudes are mostly right, when in reality the environment we are in (what they tell us to believe in the media, what we think is expected of us in society or our faith, or what our parents told us) influences our concept of right and wrong is.

How many people would rob a bank or kill if they knew for certain there would be absolutely no consequences, how many people are sorry for what they did only after they got caught?

I thought of the scripture Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

I think that when someone receives truth they are expected to walk in it but when someone never receives truth, God won't throw the book at him, at least be as severe because they are following there consciences. In the case of someone treating there wives like dirt I believe they know better even if it is a popular thing to do in some countries.

Your conscience is that inner meter, register, evaluator, censor, etc that God put in us...created us with so that we would know right from wrong. Conscience CAN be over ridden...and such is the case with criminals. People that CHOOSE to consistantly ignore or go against what their conscience tells them or warns them of, will eventually shut off their conscience and then do whatever they please. Timothy 3:2
"For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy" Being lovers of self, man will do whatever pleases him/her and have no conscience about it. It is only Holy Spirit and Christ that can reactivate the human conscience.

Your conscience certainly doesn’t tell you to chop off people’s limbs or throw acid in people’s faces. Your conscience, the Lord, will be very close to the Bible, which tells you not to judge people unless you want to be judged yourself.

I'm guessing that the reason this is a sacrifice to the headhunters is because inwardly they do not want to do it but they do so anyway to appease their false God.

The Lord is fair and merciful. He disciplines us, but it is for our own good.

I understand what you are saying Giantone.

I believe however that we instinctively know right from wrong. That's what happened in the garden. Eve knew what she was going to do was wrong.

(Gen 3:2) And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:

(Gen 3:3) But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.

She made a conscious decision to eat of the fruit. She, for all intents and purposes, ignored her conscience and gave into the will of the serpent to eat of the fruit in-spite of it. She gave into the desire of the flesh rather than obey God.

Our conscience is the ability to know what is right and wrong,and if we do wrong our conscience will bother us,giving testimony that we know we did wrong.

Through time,because of sin,the conscience can become distorted where a persom might not care so much that they sin,and the more the person sins the more the conscience can become distorted.

America does not care so much that they sin,as they have been conditioned slowly through years to enjoy sin,to where even the children to not humble themselves before parents like they used to,which God said the last generation will be highly selfish,highly arrogant,disobedient to parents,fierce towards other people,and heaping money to themselves and disregarding the poor.

The closer it is to the beast system the worse mankind is in attitude,and the more their conscience is distorted,to where they do not care so much that they sin.
Man is scary when their conscience is terribly distorted,and will do hideous things.

God warns us of the New Age religion's new christianity,which they interpret the Bible according to an occult interpretation,given to them by seducing spirits,and are doctrines of devils.

Their conscience is seared with a hot iron,which means they do not care too much that they sin,and exalt themselves to believe man is god himself,which it will be their mode of operation in the beast system,and will eventually do away with all religions,and take away many who oppose their system.
They are the ones that are trying to produce the New Age Christ,and will be cruel when they come to power not caring that they go against them,having worse fury than Hitler in going against people.

Mankind's conscience is being more distorted as time goes on to where they do not care so much that they sin,exalting themselves,until it results in the beast system.

A "conscience" is the ingrained Governor of our thoughts and actions which adversely effects our will. I would argue that a "conscience" cannot be strong nor weak. When you reference "strong" and "weak" you are referring to the "will". The "will" can be either strong or weak, but the conscience does not have a sliding scale whatsoever. The complexity of the conscience remains with how our will transcribes or interprets what's REALLY good or evil. Our "conscience" reveals to us the intrinsic morality of man, and provides us with the ability to discern between right and wrong. The intellect and the "will" determine how we view our conscience, and helps us establish how we are to act (will) out our interpretation of our conscience. This is why people like the 'Una-bomber' or someone like 'Timothy McVeigh' can justify or rationalize their behavior. They interpret what they deem to be correct, by interpreting their conscience through a distorted/corrupt intellect which can be cause by psychosis, or other numerous mental illnesses. Everyone forms ideologies that they assume to be "right" or "correct". However, if what's "right" or "correct" is taken from a false or erroneous mentality, the manifestations of the will can, and will be disastrous.

This explanation makes sense.

I think most people to some extent are out of balance, There's a verse in the Bible that says don't be too good, some people have all kinds of good things they do and then think that there buts are covered for the afterlife, and they neglect or reject the more important things, strain out a gnat and swallow a camel.

There are a number of ways our conscience works and a number of ways it can be damaged.

A Good Conscience
Self explanatory really....We know in ourselves that we can behave in good conscience. But our conscience is not a fully reliable source of behaving righteously therefore we need the Word...the Holy Spirit...wise Christian counsel...then the conscience. With God’s Word and His Spirit we can achieve good conscience in all that we do!

An Evil Conscience
The evil conscience is an uncleaned conscience (not a conscience that prompts us to do evil things). As a result of unconfessed sin a person with an evil conscience is more susceptible to sin and less sensitive to what is good.

A Seared Conscience
When you live a certain way, for example, lying, deceit, sexual immorality and you do it soo often your conscience no longer bothers you. It gets burned by the toleration of sin that gets insensitive. If you do something wrong often enough you cease to see the wrong in it. That is what a seared conscience is.

A Weak Conscience
Your conscience can be weak in two ways. Immature or over sensitive! 1 Corinthians 8 : 9 – 12 talks about if you have ‘knowledge’ of a sin and do it anyway in front of a Christian with a weak conscience that ends up with them following suit you have sinned against Christ.

Meaning that the believer with a weak conscience may be led to sin by imitating or misinterpreting the actions of another believer. A new believer needs to develop his conscience and strengthen it by the reading of the Word.

A Defiled Conscience
This happens to our conscience when we continually ignore the Word and our conscience. We end up either a defiled conscience.
“To the pure, all things are pure but to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure but both in mind and their conscience are defiled” Titus 1 : 15
In that state the conscience loses its ability to discern right from wrong. Mixing impure and pure.
The conscience for all the above reasons isinadequate * unreliable * conditioned by background and teaching * incapable of giving direction.

I think the conscience is the general alarm in your spirit that tries to tell you when you are doing wrong. I don't think the conscience is the holy spirit, though I do think the holy spirit tries to influence the conscience.

I believe that our conscience can be imperfect. For example, if we learn that smoking cigarettes is a sin we may, in our conscience come to believe that anyone who smokes is guilty.

However, when we read Jesus teaching that nothing which goes into the mouth defiles us, but that which comes out of the mouth, then we may realize that we were wrong to believe all those smokers to be guilty of sin because of smoking in itself. While it is definitely more healthy NOT to smoke, not smoking is still just a health rule and not a moral rule.

Our conscience learns something new.

The same is true if we believe smoking is wrong and yet we ourselves are smokers. The Bible also says


1jn 3:20 For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.

I believe this is a reference to a guilty conscience which really should not feel guilty.

The human conscience is that part of the human soul where all the norms and standards of life are stored. When we are born we have a code of the moral law written in the conscience that indicated right from wrong in relationship to our family, government, our neighbor and our surroundings. This moral code of conduct is added to with the instructions we receive from our parents and others sources that effect our conduct and behavior in the world and environment in which we live. In this moral conscience we accuse or excuse one another (Rom 2:15).

This moral conscience can be violated and with each violation it is weakened and over time can become seared (cauterized). Example: If a child takes something that does not belong to them, they had an indicator in the conscience that tried to warn them not to take it (like a red light going off telling them to stop). This become a violation in their tender conscience and their conscience needs to be reinforced. If it continues it has to be corrected through discipline and if it still continues it can sear the conscience. When searing takes place the conscience begins to adopt a standard of behavior that involves no restraints and the person begins to do what is right in their own eyes.

These end up in destructive behavior against authority and against others with no conviction of violating the moral norms and standards of the conscience or what has been adopted as civilized behavior. This could lead to rebellion in the classroom, against local authority, domestic abuse in the home and with others that leads to criminal activity that violates the rights and property of others. This happens with the unregenerate man and can lead that man to a reprobate mind when nothing in the conscience is acceptable or approved and there are no longer any restraints to personal behavior.

The conscience is how the people that have never heard the word of God,or not sufficient to draw a conclusion that it is true,will be judged.

The Bible says that creation testifies there is a God,His Godhead,which is His attributes,that He is wise,powerful,and good and loving,for He provided the things on earth for people to have their needs met.

Creation alone will be a witness against people who do not believe in a God.

The Bible says when they knew God,they glorified Him not as God,but worshipped the creature instead of the Creator.

When they knew God means,nobody starts out as an atheist,but will believe in a higher power,but it is later on that they turn to being an atheist.

Since creation testifies that there is a God,for people who grasp that belief,they should go about doing good,for creation testifies that God is good.They should do the best they can and ask forgiveness when they do wrong,and since creation testifies of that God is loving,they should go about doing no one harm.

The people who have not heard the word of God,the law is written in their hearts,and their conscience bears witness of what is wrong and right.God said we know what is right,for the law is written on our heart,which becomes a law unto us,our conscience bearing witness,meaning our conscience knows right from wrong,and it is the tree of good and evil that Adam and Eve ate,not the tree of evil and evil.



The people who have never heard the word of God,will be judged on their belief of a God,and the right perspective of His attributes,which creation testifies of His Godhead,His right attributes,and their conscience.


They know God is good and loving,then they should go about being good and loving,and asking for forgiveness for their sins,although there might be some who believe in a God because of creation,but then have the wrong perspective of Him,which is obvious for the nations like Egypt that believed in gods,but not in the right perspective.

This shows you how important the conscience is as a guide.This is saying in the latter times,which is now,some shall depart from the faith.They do not depart from christianity,they claim it,but they departed from the truth of it,and received a wrong interpretation of it by seducing spirits,and were taught doctrines of devils.


The reason that they received a wrong interpretation,is because their roots were of the occult,and one of the biggest prophets Alice A. Bailey,was a former Christian and did ministry work,who was married to a freemason,started reading occult teachings and became interested in it,and then started looking at christianity with an occultic view of it,which got the ball rolling,until it started incorporating more occult teachings and other occult religions as valid as the Bible,and the ball kept rolling,which caused the New Age religion to be the worse of all occultic religions or organizations ever on the earth,for they incorporate every occult belief that is on the planet,which is the deception of the seducing spirits,so that the devil can use the New Age religion to fuse all religions together,with a reinterpretation of all religions to have an occult core belief that makes them all valid religions to be able to have the Christ conscience,which Christianity and Islam was reinterpreted to have an occult core belief,and the New Age religion will be the ones behind the developing of the one world religious system to reinterpret any religion that does not already have their occult core belief.


These people are terrible which the Bible says their conscience is seared with a hot iron,which means they basically lost their moral compass,and are so heady and high minded to believe man is god himself,and this influence will be more prominent on the religions as time goes by,but of course you cannot pervert Christianity for the gates of hell cannot prevail against it,but their occult interpretation of it will be part of the one world religious system,and fundamental Christianity will not be recognized,and well as Islam,it will be an occult interpretation,and fundamental Islam will not be recognized,which I view Islam as false but they do not have an occult view of the Koran and Allah,at least not anything that I know,for the occult is about man exalting themselves for power,trying to tap in to nature for power,and some believing they are god,which I do not see Islam doing that.The asians already have an occult belief about them,which you can see in their movies,but I'm sure they will be influenced to even more occult beliefs.


The New Age religion does not recognize Lucifer as the devil or Satan,which Alice Bailey says he is a mighty being of light and the ruler of humanity.Benjamin Creme who is a big part of the New Age religion said that there would be a group of enlightened spiritual teachers who could guide humanity forward into the aquarian age of peace and brotherhood based on the principles of loving and sharing,another deception of the devil,for the Bible says by peace the antichrist shall destroy many.
At the head of this group would be a great Avatar,the World Teacher,expected by all the major religions at this time as their Awaited One,and will appear as Christ to the Christians,Krishna to Hindus,and so on,which is another deception of the devil to make them believe that their Awaited One of all the major religions would show up at the same time as one person,so the devil can deceive them all at once,and Benjamin Creme does not understand how arrogant and power thirsty Satan is,for when he appears as the their so called Awaited One,he will not say he is the one they are waiting for and say to the Christians I am your Christ,or to the Hindus and say I am Krishna,and so on,but he will exalt himself above all that is called God or is worshipped,which some New Age people that are white magic believe he might turn to black magic after he has a taste of power.


Benjamin Creme said Lucifer came from the planet Venus 18.5 million years ago,and he's the director of our planetary evolution,he is the sacrificial lamb,and the prodigal son,and Alice Bailey says he is a mighty being of light and the ruler of humanity,so the New Age religion leaders will influence the religions to believe that Lucifer is not a bad guy but a good guy looking to help the world achieve peace,and Lucifer is not the devil or Satan.


Our conscience is a guide but as you can see it can get somewhat disabled if someone dabbles in the occult,and the more the person is in to the occult the more disabled their conscience can become,and when they take the mark their conscience will be totally disabled.
