I used to Sadsomuch, but my account disapeared. I had received some preciouse and meaningfull feedback on the question of does God want me to forgive myself for forgetting to love my dear children as they were growing up.
I find myself consumed with grief and dispair when I think of the chances I had to play with them but begged off to do something 'more important'. More self serving is about right. And now I weep and wail to myself most every day under the burdon of self loathing and unfulfilled nurturing instincts. At work, at home, in bed. They deserved so much more. Any encouragement?

bible makes it clear about your question, forgive to be forgiven and that means ourselves to. all the devil has is the self condemnation card to play against you,
God is for you not against you,

a broken and contrite heart God will not despise,(Ps51).

When we are awakened to God we see how he desires for us to live. Then we see not only how far short we fell, we see the damage we caused.

It is heart breaking how selfish we were and how far off our priorities were from what is really important to him.

I believe it is in that brokeness he awakens us and gives us the strength to align ourselfs with his prioroties.

I know it hurt to see but you could of never lived without him the way you are able to live with him.

Thats why we forgive, the people that have hurt us are just people like us not awakened.

Our hope is for them to be awakened.

he holds your tears, they are pressious to him. they are the evidence that you once were blind but now you see.

Jesus is Lord, He loves us. His purpose is to pay for us what we can not pay. To get back for us what we could never get back.

You can not change one thing about yesterday. But, God can change who you are tomorrow.

the person that did not see her childs needs yesterday, no longer exisists. You see their needs today.

I thnk,no I know that it is the devil using this to keep you down,Jesus hung it to His cross. He forgave you of everything you did or could ever do,when He said"it is finished",that is exactly what He meant.Give yourself a break and enjoy life. The burden of guilt is very heavy but Jesus said His burden is light.Enjoy the time you have with your children,if they have forgiven you,do the same.Anyway,God bless and keep you in His will,AMEN

Moses & David both committed murder and God forgave them. In fact God called David a man after His own heart.
Matthew 12:31 says that the only unforgivable sin is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. Even speaking a word against Jesus is forgiven.

So the question of God forgiving you is answered. If God has forgiven you what sense does it make that He wouldn't want you to forgive yourself?

Search your heart Brother. Ask the Holy Spirit to bring to mind any whom you have not forgiven. Reopen the wound, not to condemn yourself rather to search your heart for any animosity which might remain. Is there any resentment, Forgive it. Turn away from it.

When you have done so you will have God's peace. Don't let the enemy condemn you and steal your joy. Stand on the Word. If you have forgiven all, all is forgiven you. Amen!

that is the first step of forgiveness my friend. Without forgiving yourself means you don't even trust yourself in anything. Then my friend you will forgive others because of the love you have from above. If GOD wants you to forgive others well i pretty much sure that He wants you to forgive yourself.

Does this help at all?

I think you should invest your energy doing good things today, rather than worrying about what you might not have done so well in the past.

Agreed,
Matt 6:34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

I think this applies to yesterday and days past also. Live according to God's will today.

Yes, absolutly Jesus wants you to forgive yourself.
You also need to stop passing judgement on yourself as well.
The heart you feel is Jesus setting His understanding on you, but you also need to know His forgiveness as well.
The question one can ask when they cannot forgive themself? Wasnt the sacrifice of Jesus enough? :)
In this question one can see that all Jesus did was so much more.
Let Him take your hand and bring you close to Him.
His love and forgiveness is so great, it will take a life tme just to begin to know. :)
God bless.

You can stay in self pity which is still it's all about me story. Or you can ask God to help you and you can let him help. It's up to you. The bible says to love your self. If you don't your no good to love anyone else. You have to forgive yourself. Thats how healing starts. Then be the best to your kids and ask God to help them forgive you.

He will turn again, He will have compassion upon us; He will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.
Micah 7:19
One of the devil favorite tricks is to get us to go fishing for pass sins, but what God has cast in the sea, we ought not to go fishing for.
God has remove your sins from you "as far as the east from the west" (Psalms 103:12) if you have repented of them, and accepted Christ as your Saviour (I John 1:7,9).
