Unfortunatley christianity has became a needs based man centred afair. The church with the better music ,bigger miricles and big shows are the fullest.Poeple go to church to get rich, be healed and other shelfish reasons. We seem to have lost the plot. We should go to church to worship God.As for mr hinn ill let him speak for himself
Christians are little messiahs. Christians are little gods. (Benny Hinn, Praise-a-thon (TBN), recorded November 1990)
"Though we are not Almighty God Himself, nevertheless, we are now divine" (Benny Hinn, 12/1/90, TBN)
"Christians are "Little Messiah's and "little gods" on the earth. Thus [Encouraging the audience]...say "I am a God-man....This spirit-man within me is a God-man..." say "I'm born of heaven-a God-man. I'm a God man. I am a sample of Jesus. I'm a super being. Say it! Say it! Who's a super being? "I walk in the realm of the supernatural." Say it!...You want to prosper? Money will be falling on you from left, right and centre. God will begin to prosper you, for money always follows righteousness....Say after me, "everything I ever want is in me already." (Benny Hinn, TBN,1990)
"I am a 'little messiah' walking the earth" (Benny Hinn, Praise-a-Thon" on TBN, November 6, 1990).
"Are you ready for some real revelation knowledge....you are god" (Benny Hinn, "Our Position In Christ", tape #AO31190-1) "Don't tell me you have Jesus. You ARE everything He was, and everything He is and shall be." (Benny Hinn,TBN)
"You see, frankly, that's the way I think about it. I'm sorry, I'm not exactly the normal kind of guy, you know, I'm from Israel. Sometimes I wish God would give me a Holy Ghost machine gun, I'd blow your head off." (Benny Hinn talking about "heresy hunters, TBN)
God has 9 parts (tri-theistic). (Benny Hinn, Benny Hinn broadcast, recorded 10/13/90) Poverty comes from Hell. Prosperity comes from Heaven. Adam had complete dominion over the earth and all it contains. A. Adam could fly like a bird. B. Adam could swim underwater and breathe like a fish. Adam went to the moon. Adam walked on water. Adam was a super being, He was the first superman that lived. Adam had dominion over the sun, moon & stars.Christians do not have Christ in their hearts. Sow a big seed, when you confess it, you are activating the supernatural forces of God. (Benny Hinn, Praise-a-thon (TBN), recorded November 1990)

You see, if given enough rope, those who are in error will hang themselves. They don't need our help! *lol*

You know, I think we all can get a little over zealous from time to time. However, for the sake of the following this man has, I do hope and pray that the Holy Spirit convicts Him of any and all wrong doing thus a change occured / occurs or, if indeed his motives are malevolent, that he is exposed and his ministry shut down for good.

welp I for one actually heard with my own ears and saw with my own eyes hinn saying "Send me $1000 and your bills and I'll pray for you and you'll never have another bill again!"Tisi isnt hear say I saw and heard it yself,I liked his teaching till then, even followed some, like the one where he said not to even try to please God cuz youd only let him down, like david did. Then I read contrary in the bible. However I do believe in the power of the holy spirit healing ,teaching, speaking in tongues(I've done it once in private not infront of a crowd, during prayer time alone)and moving in many other miraculous ways,I dont know about the voilence part tho,Personally if I went up to a guy and asked him for prayer and he sliugged me Id prolly be inclined to proceed to take his head off with my hands .Not saying Id not pray for his healing while I was doin it,MAybe he is in need of a healing?

As I said earlier

A lot of the criticisms of Hinn on the internet are old, like from the 90's etc.
10 years is a long time to hold a grudge against a man. Yet these things are still floating around on the internet.

Why instead of picking up one or two bad things that Hinn said, don't you focus on the many times he has preached the Gospel?

Maybe because you are more interesting in focussing on the evil than the good?

Why should Hinn be exempt from us practicing the kind of love which covers a multitude of sins(1 Pe 4:8)

Because he has a big ministry? Or maybe you are jealous?

The DVD set "'The Signs and Wonders Movement Exposed'' has a good exposé on Hinn.

Let me just say that God loves the sinner but hates all sin.Not too long ago Mr Hinn was here not far from my hometown. They gave the poeple attending the meeting a couple of minutes to donate $1000. If they did it in the specified time they would get a special blessing and even become millionares.I dont hate mr Hinn and i try not to dislike him.He is after all a sinner like all of us.If you see a brother or sister in error you should try your best to correct him or her. Mr Hinn is a person that got rich out of taking money from good christian poeple. He identified a gap in the market and is exploiting a needs based ,man centred religion. He is however not the only one..the truth is that just about every TBN,GOD TV ect. tv preacher is in it for the money and stinking rich. They will do anything to part you from your money. They must repent from their ways God will welcome them with open arms.I guess my statements willd not be very popular..the truth never is.

I personally do not believe that Christians are to follow after signs and wonders however, I also believe that if we are true believers signs and wonders will indeed follow us.

I'm yet to see or hear of a healing or demonic deliverance in a mainstream (eg Presbyterian, Baptist, Uniting Church) , let alone a sign and wonder. Most of them are all words and no action. If I need a healing, my moneys on (sorry, pun intended) folk like Benny Hinn.

I mean not Hnn Himself, but Benny facilitates and provides a wonderful atmosphere for healing. Very rare you get to worship in the presence of God with 30,000 people at your local church on a Sunday. Many people need that, that they just don't get at their local mainstream denominational church. Which is sad because the church is supposed to be the place we get healed and delivered. But all you get is a bit of a sing song and a nice bible story, goes for about an hour, maybe communion too, chit chat over tea or coffee and then go home.

Baptist???????? No way, just the opposite, did you even read my post.
well this sentence here kinda threw me
This new religion that is being taught is so close to actual Christianity that many are fooled into believing that they are saved. These teachings are a trick from satan to lead many to hell.
The first part I was kinda like "Yeah I can buy that",But then it was like BAM!!!!!!!

has anyone investigated the fruit of these healings? did the hit bruise or did it heal? I dont know... just something to throw out there. My opinion is that yes it is contrary to the Holy Spirit and I reject it, however I too have never been present for one of these "healings". I did however have a cousin who was miracle healed but not in a theatre or big church or auditorium... he was healed in his hospital bed at 90 lbs with just dear old mom praying over him. he had about a week left hadnt eaten in 50 days. cancer in his stomach lungs spine ... u name it. healed. no one HIT him to heal him... been cancer free now for 6 years. So healing is possible i've seen that but never seen someone punch or kick someone to heal them. It would be interesting to see if these healings are still evident or were these people afflicted to begin with? sorry for the sceptical view... I try to be open minded to new ideas providing they do measure up to who we know God to be. He's given us his word and told us to judge by the fruit... I also wonder why if Jesus healed with just a word... why would he now have us resort to physical violence contrary to HIS HOLY WORDS description of the Holy Spirit? I'm eagerly watching this thread.

Good to see you a lot calmer on the issue Imoss... :)

I think what we have here.. far beyond whether someone hits someone etc.. is the church's immaturity or unknowing ignorance (and I include myself) in how God partner's with man (and vice versa) in the miraculous. Our typical understanding of prayer and faith is much like your wonderful testimony of your cousin. Most of us know of or have experienced this.. but this kind of praying is often like equating Jesus calming the storm down to the fact that the disciples woke him up!.. after all isn't that how we pray most of the time? "Help! Help!" ...and sometimes our 'sleeping savior' wakes for us and calms the 'storm' and other times he doesn't. We're left thankful when he does and confused when he doesn't... right?

The solution
Not that I know it but I'll say this... I think most of us still think that faith comes by hearing the word of God.. NOT TRUE. (This often means we're primarily having a relationship with a set of principles from a fantastic book not a man, but that's another story in itself)... We need to not just know the book but know the author..We need to hear from heaven itself, and our ability to hear comes from the word yes, but faith comes by hearing... hearing what you may ask? Hearing the Lord speak. This is vital for anyone who wishes to partner with heaven to see more than just every other person healed.

And whilst Jesus healed with just a word, he didn't JUST heal with a word.. Jesus was perfectly modeling partnering with Heaven as a man.. for us to follow.. and he never did things the same way.. he listened and watched what Heaven was doing and copied.

Lastly, in this world of ever-increasing faith (and lets face it what actually stretched your faith last time won't stretch it next time..) these displays that often sound so horrifying like punching someone's tumor ,spitting and putting mud in blind eyes, telling people to wash in sewer water seven times, throwing crippled babies across the floor in front of 1,000's of muslims, stamping on leper's feet, are not just signs for unbelievers, they are signs for believers...to teach us what radical obedience and faith looks like.. and I believe, to break that next layer of unbelief of the heart of even the one who is being used to bring the miracle... These miracles are meant to teach us that it wasn't what we did that healed a person it was the partnering and the obedience, the submission. It was when he said 'do you trust me?' and we said "yes.. I'll do it even though it sounds crazy". And even us imperfect saints can get that right sometimes.

The bible is full of these crazy stories of doing stupid and foolish things to release the miracle..Is it in his word specifically? Maybe, maybe not. But then if all the specifics for life that I needed was in the Bible.. a) it would be a huge book (no more pocket sized editions :) b) I would no longer need to depend on hearing the voice of the Lord each day would I?

This bible teaching warning is about the danger of the unforgiveable sin of blaspheming the Spirit by saying a miracle is of the devil:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8ihzZP_nFU&feature=related
the thing is that barking isnt a miracle. The original poster stated that the devil is performing miracles to trick people, but according to a verse , demons cant perform miracles .
"Others said, These are not the words of him that has a devil. Can a devil open the eyes of the blind?" jon 10:21 . this is supported by logic aswell .

Seeing that messiah simply means "anointed" , its not shocking or outrageous for someone that believes they have the Holy Spirit to say they are messiahs. If they are anointed, then they ARE messiahs . Also on the "mini-gods" thing, Jesus himself stated that the Bible says that whoever receives the word of elohim are elohim . Im not a supporter of benny hin at all, its just that there are techincally no complaints about thsoe statements . i wont read the rest of it, its too long adn im sure its all kinds of incorrectness in it
