Let's have a thread here similar to the spirit of the Youedify room.

Here are the ground rules.
1. No debating.(I reserve the right to delete any posts that start arguing or debating. If you feel something is SO important you MUST debate or argue, just start another thread.)
2. Posts must be three or less paragraphs long, with each paragraph around 5 sentences. (Similar to the no monologuing rule in the room.)
3.No arguing
4.Keep it serious minded..ie no funny pics or silly remarks.
5. Avoid the trivial or obscure..ie stuff the Bible isn't clear on.......
6. Avoid long copy and paste jobs.
7.Avoid controversial minded posts..ie saying why this guy or ministry or whatever, is evil or in error. You can do that in another thread.
a. If someone post something completely heretical, way over the top in error, no worries I'll delete it. Otherwise let's just let things stand on their own to avoid the debating, arguing, quarreling in this thread.

IF THESE GUIDELINES BOTHER YOU...KEEP IN MIND..THERE ARE A GUZILLION OTHER THREADS YOU CAN DO STUFF IN...SO JUST KEEP THIS ONE FOR ITS PURPOSE..THANKS!

POST EDIFYING THINGS LIKE.......

1. Your favorite worship or praise video.
2. A short video word of encouragement. Around five minutes long at the most.
3. Give a testimony.
4. Share a reasonably lengthed portion of scripture encouraging to you.
5. Share an encouraging thought that is your own.
6.Share your concerns or something you need prayer or encouraging in.

excellent series by phil johnson.

The Cure for Spiritual Blindness
John 9:1-41
by Phil Johnson
Why do so many today reject the gospel? Is their unbelief a result of a rational and reasoned position, or is it simply due to a blindness which stops them understanding this message, or their desperate need of it?

Phil Johnson examines the interesting story, found in chapter nine of John's Gospel, of the miracle of the healing of the blind man. But this is not just a story of a great healing, wonderful miracle though it was, but of something far deeper. This was a healing that not only rescued this man, who had been blind from birth, from a life of poverty, but it was a miracle that brought Jesus into conflict with the Pharisees. Why was this? What are the implications of this chapter for us today?

The whole of chapter nine of John's Gospel is given over to the telling of the story of the healing of this blind man. The gospel writer, therefore, thought it was of vital importance to convey the lessons this event has to tell. Phil Johnson begins, in the first message, by focusing on the miracle itself, and then in his second message asks the question 'why did this healing bring Jesus into conflict with the Pharisees?' Finally, he shows us how these events point to the greatest miracle of all. This is teaching that goes to the heart of spiritual blindness, and shows not only its cause but, more importantly, its cure.

The Cure for Spiritual Blindness, #1 John 9:1-12
The Cure for Spiritual Blindness, #2 John 9:13-34
The Cure for Spiritual Blindness, #3 John 9:35-41

Hi Gals and Guys,
This happened to me many many years ago and it meant nothing to me ( God wise) until after Jesus called me in 2001.
It was around 1978 or so. I was a dumb footballer who owned a snack bar, drank beer and knew nothing. It was Christmas time and my wife's family (I am now divorced) met for Christmas. The sister was a radiologist and her husband had just completed his masters degree in science. They bought a game called mastermind to play and I was the target. After about 3 games, I said to them, I understand this game and the maximum moves necessary for me is 3. It is not possible for me to continue playing. I asked them if they wanted to know, because once I showed them then of course they could not play this game again either. They both wanted to know so I showed them.

Now I know it was the Lord who opened my eyes. Now I know that they were trying to belittle me.

This shows just how beautiful He is for those who are to be called. I was not a church going Christian, probably only going twice since marrying and three times in the prior 15 years. He has continually KEPT me for my lifetime through all my sinful times and rescued me from troubles of my own making. I earnestly pray that He will keep on Keeping me.

Dear Jesus, I praise you, I praise you God Our Father, I praise you and thank you for your Holy Spirit.
For everything we are, we do, we become, is of your caring hand, your creation.
For all that is, has been, will be, your gift.
What can we give you that is not already your gift to us?
In scripture it says, let us offer unto God a sacrifice of praise!
We give you this praise, all glory, all the love of our hearts!
We thankyou Lord Jesus, for your saving sacrifice, your salvtion!
We thankyou Father for your gift of life, your love, your mercy in Jesus, Your grace!
We thankyou for sending your Holy Spirit, the comforter, our guide, our teacher, filled with your power and gifts in Jesus Christ is Lord.
All is your Glory!
We Love you, Lord God Our Father!
Amen!

God bless.

Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me, Christ within me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me.
Christ at my right, Christ at my left, Christ in the fort, Christ in the chariot seat, Christ in the poop,
Christ in the heart of everyone who thinks of me, Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks to me,
Christ in every eye that sees me, Christ in every ear that hears me.

I bind to myself today the strong virtue of the invocation of the Trinity,
I believe in the Trinity, in Unity, the Creator of the universe...Amen.

"Just Stop and Think"

Here is a brief but edifying video from one of my favorite preachers (Francis Chan) about taking time to "stop and think" about how awesome God is!

Here is a very edifying praise song by Kathryn Scott called "I Belong" which is based on Romans 8:38-39, concerning Jesus' love for us:

YouTube - I Belong

And here is a brief and edifying message that perfectly compliments Kathryn's song. The message is from John MacArthur and is called "How Much Do You Love Christ?"

One of my all-time favorite sermons is entitled "Mysterious Visits" by the 19th century preacher Charles Spurgeon. The sermon concerns the biblical truth that Jesus visits each of us individually each and everyday. Spurgeon's text for his sermon is Psalm 17:3, "Thou hast visited me in the night." I thought I would post some excerpts here from this meaningful and encouraging sermon. Enjoy!

"Believe me, there are such things as personal visits from Jesus to His people. He has not left us utterly. Though He be not seen with bodily eye by bush or brook, nor on the mount, nor by the sea, yet doth He come and go, observed only by the spirit, felt only by the heart."
- Charles Spurgeon, from the sermon "Mysterious Visits"

"As surely as the Lord Jesus came really as to His flesh to Bethlehem and Calvary, so surely does He come really by His Spirit to His people in the hours of their communion with Him. We are as conscious of that presence as of our own existence."
- Charles Spurgeon, from the sermon "Mysterious Visits"

"I am persuaded that there is no actual distance between Earth and Heaven: the distance lies in our dull minds. When the Beloved visits us in the night, He makes our chambers to be the vestibule of His palace halls. Earth rises to Heaven when Heaven comes down to Earth."
- Charles Spurgeon, from the sermon "Mysterious Visits"

"Have your hearts right with Jesus, and He will visit you often, until everyday you shall walk with God, as Enoch did, and so turn weekdays into Sabbaths, meals into sacraments, homes into temples, and Earth into Heaven."
- Charles Spurgeon, from the sermon "Mysterious Visits"

"Never was there a sinner that was half so eager for Jesus as Jesus is eager for the sinner, nor a saint one-tenth so anxious to behold his Lord as his Lord is to behold him. If thou art running to Jesus, He is already near thee. If thou dost sigh for His presence, that sigh is evidence that He is with thee. He is with thee now, therefore be calmly glad."
- Charles Spurgeon, from the sermon "Mysterious Visits"

I am a Canadian missionary serving in America. The Gospel is lost in North America. 78% of college students who enter school Christian leave without their faith. Our mission is working to change this and create a strong generation that knows the Gospel and its power.
