Peace be upon you.
Many people thinks its cool to have a tattoo you know, but they are just not sure what GOD says about this.
Either way, some do but decides to have a tattoo anyway, which is bad because then you refuse to follow the Word of GOD. What does GOD say about this?

Leviticus 19:27-28
Do not cut the hair at the sides of your head or clip off the edges of your beard.

Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD.

If you have any questions, you may mail me.

Jesus said that He did not come to abolish the law, but to fulfill it. We are also told that all things are available to us as Christians, but not everything is to our good. I don't think that tatooing our bodies is God's best for us, especially as so many antichristian groups and persons use tatooes to designate who they are. I think it is interesting, also, that the mark of Satan will be placed on people during the tribulation; possibly a tatoo?

Finally, there are those who will think badly because of tatooes, and we are told not to cause others to stumble.

I don't think that tatooes are God's best for you, but if you are in Christ, you are loved and beautiful in His eyes, no matter the state of your earthly body! Praise God!!!

I would just like to make a quick point here - these are old testament laws - the old testament laws do not apply to us today. The old testament laws were given to the nation of Israel... They were not given to Christians.
When Jesus died on the cross He put an end to the old testament laws. I do believe they are a good guidepost to what the new covenent says - “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind … and to love your neighbor as yourself."
In the old testament it shows what goes into doing these things - but old testament laws do not apply to us today.

The two verses posted at the beginning, Leviticus 19:27-28 - what about verse 27?? Not sure about you, but I've seen many Christians with beards, and I've also seen many Christians with tattoos.

I don't believe there is a problem getting tattooed.. but that's just personal opinion. Do I believe it's a sin? No... Does God believe it's a sin? My guess would be probably not. I'll let God judge those with tattoos, but I for one see no problem in tattoos. I'm even planning on getting some - one of them will be to remember my grandpa, and others will have a religious meaning to them.

See I John 2:15-17 and Romans 12:1-2. That answers your complaints.

I don't see anything in either of those verses - It just says offer your bodies as living sacrifices, so should men have beards as well? Because clearly in Leviticus it states do not trim the edges of your beard....

I believe that if you are living for Christ that you should not be going out to get at tat. Me and my husband both have tat's but we have not gotten anymore since we gave our life to Christ. My hubby used to do tat's and he burned his gun and needles and ink and that was a lot of money but he gave it up for Christ.Lev 19:28 Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD. (KJV)
It may be old testment. But we still live by the ten commandments
Mat 5:17Think not that Iam come to destroy the law,or the prophets:I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill.
Mat 5:18For verily I say unto you,Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
Mat 5:19Who so ever there fore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so,he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven:but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. (KJV)

And there are two different types of law sacrifial and moral. When Christ died on the cross the was the sacrifice that he was blameless and spotless with no blemish which means no sin. That is the reason we don't have to offer sacrifice because Christ died on the Cross

It's not just about yes you are saved and therefore you can do whatever you like. Remember we have to give an account of ourselves at judgement. We'll be asked or told, what we did and why we did it, and receive reward, or suffer loss. So if we are comfortable getting a tattoo and still being confident at judgement, then sure why not go ahead and get one. But if it doesn't feel right then don't.

2 Cor 5:10
For all of us must appear before the judgment seat of the Messiah, so that each of us may receive what he deserves for what he has done in his body, whether good or worthless.

you can't tell someone with tats: hey you, you're going to hell

it depends on personal judgment tho,

my reason for not having tats is that: Jesus never had one lol,
but that doesn't mean that those folks with tats dont deserve to go to heaven

I just personally don't see anything wrong in them - yesterday I was told I was a liberal in the chat and I felt that was a bit wrong, because some dude said he was not going to take any of my liberal bullcrap...
I know we follow the ten commandments, but nothing in the ten commandments says no tattoos - and if we follow what the new covenant says about loving the Lord and loving our neighbors we fulfill what God wants of us.
The verse in Leviticus 19:28 was an old testament law... like I said... that law was changed when Jesus died on the cross and brought Kingdom life to us.
Just my personal opinion.
If you're getting a tattoo for yourself, so other people notice you I see a problem with that - on the other hand if someone does it to glorify God as the pastor at my old church has - I see no problem in that. He has his whole right arm tattooed and it's his was of expressing His love to God - and he even has a few verses tattooed on his arm, it's really cool. I see no problem in that, even as a pastor - there have been people that have come up to him and said he's going to hell because of that verse in leviticus.
He makes the point it's old testament law and says to look at the verse before it, especially if they have no beard and says well if I'm sinning, you're sinning too because you have no beard.
The end.

It's an holiness issue. The world tattoos. Be ye separate saith the Lord. Not doing those things was Israels way of being holy. The principle applies, applications are different.

How about we let GOD be the one who judges.. What if I had a tattoo of a cross as a reminder of Jesus dying for my sins (which I am going to have).. I wonder if God would throw me into hell for that? I don't think He will, personally. Oh yea, and aren't we saved by grace now? I'm not saying go out and do things against God's will but I think we need to just love one another and live our relationships with the Lord personally and not try and change what others are doing. The only way others will change is if they truly want to themselves. And who are YOU to say that it is wrong for someone to do ANYTHING. Even if it says it's wrong in the Bible you will have nothing to do with where that person ends up. Only God will be able to judge everyone. So in the meantime... How about we practice love and acceptance instead?! :)
