I feel as tho i was set up for failure by my church and by God. I am angry at myself for allowing them to build my hope for something, only to have it all be crushed. I want to come back to God. But i feel damaged. I feel used. and I cant seem to get past it to much. I loved my church but now not so much.

Dear mizsilverbrass,
What did your church do to make you feel this way? Whatever it was, I am confident that God had nothing to do with it. He is not a vindictive God. He grieves for His children when they go astray or are hurting. In the book of Joel He says about Himself, "Return to the Lord your God, for He is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and He relents from sending calamity.". In the Psalms, the phrase is often repeated "Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good. His love endures forever.". This doesn't sound to me like a God that would set you up for failure. Unfortunately, our churches today are filled with false prophets just as in the time of Israel and Judah. Scan through the books of Isiah and Jeremiah to see how many false prophets plagued them in those days. Similarly, in some of his letters, Paul warned the early Christians about false teachers who were not preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Whatever happened, I know in my heart that God was not involved. I urge you to take your grievance to Him in prayer. Follow the advice of Psalm 40, verse 4, "Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, who does not look to the proud, to those who turn aside to false gods.". God bless you. I know you will come out of this stronger than ever.

Hello mizsilverbrass, Take comfort in this. God is teaching you discernment. He is refining you. We learn from our mistakes, if we learnt from others mistakes, we'd all be perfect by now !! But we must all taste and experience for ourselves the evil and hurt so we may grow and choose which path we pleasure in. God did not this evil to you, but yes, He let you experience it...for teaching purposes...and now you are that little bit wiser to the cleverness of deceitful men...He wants your love focused on Him and not your church..a common error Christians can make, where their church becomes their god (not saying you/all Christians do this, just an example). Nevertheless, praise the Lord for revealing it to you !! It is a good sign. Regards Devolution. |

I know how that is... let me tell you sometimes we are put through trill by our own church family, I learned that sometimes I astray for God and In order to remind me who I am and not forget him he corrects me.. I always pray to the lord if I am doing something please correct me in whatever way possible, because the most important thing is to always remain close to him no matter what

Acts 7:48 Howbeit the Most High dwells not in temples made with hands, as saith the prophet Acts 17:24 God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of Heaven and earth, dwells not in temples made with hands. Have good faith sister, because if you let God dwell in you, then his spirit will go where-ever you go. Man often lets us down, and yes, it can be hurtful , but let man not be the focus of our salvation. |

The place you go to worship might of set you up for a failure, but God will never set you up for a failure, unless it is not God's will, which He would not help you in that instance.
28And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose(Romans 8:28). All things work for the good who follow God in the truth,so if you are following God in the truth, then that what you think is a failure is really for the good, but not everyone is in the truth,or rather not righteous,so they could fail at something they tried to accomplish that they thought was good. God wants us to go about doing good but if it is like a big commitment in a certain area,God might want that person in another area. We can take on projects where God wants us to do another project. I might say I want to pastor a Church, but God might say I want you to go to Africa and preach the word,so my wanting to be pastor although a good thing would be by my own efforts. |
