Rev 22:19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

Did the author of Revelation believe in "once saved always saved"? Am I wrong or does that verse not say that anyone, even those whose names are in the book of life (i.e. christians) can have it taken out and their part taken out of the holy city?

If it doesn't, does that mean that if you are a Christian you can tamper with the book of Revelation because you'll be saved anyway?

thanks Merry heart. I dont' hear anyone saying that either. But my point was.. let's say a christian tampers with the book of revelation, what happens to them? It says they get their name taken out of the book of life. I think that's what it's saying. or is it saying the name is left in there but you lose some rewards?

Let's say a non-christian tampers with the book of revelation. They get their name taken out of the book of life. Wait a minute. how can a non-christian have their name taken out of the book of life if they werent in it to begin with?

I am not saying I believe this I am just explaining how some would answer your thread
Not debating here just trying to explain the other side of this thread, many preach two books the Lamb's book of life;

Re 21:27And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's BOOK OF LIFE.

notice here that book is in the singular form not plural. and those that have called upon the name of the Lord are written in this book the Lamb's book. however there is another book the book of life, which holds all the names of people that ever lived . this is my opinion is a weak doctrine but they base this on the scripture;
Re 20:12And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the BOOK OF LIFE: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works

notice here when all stood before God all books were opened, plural tense.

But my answer would be that the Bible never says when our names are written in the Book of Life, I believe according to Mt 18:14Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these LITTLE ONES should perish.
that God wrote all into the Book of Life, then when we reject His love. our names are blotted out , but as i say I can't prove this from scriptures because the Bible doesn't say when our names are written in the Book Of Life

That's good Thaddeus thankyou. I'm aware of a belief that says all our names are written in the book of life from day one, that's how babies etc get to heaven.

peace be to you

The term once saved always saved is a true statement.I will prove it to you.

I will not say that a person who is a christian is saved just cause he is a christian or that a person saying im saved will be saved.

The word saved to a God fearing man means God almighty has saved them.This term has a finality to it mahog; saved.It is not past tense.It is the conclusion of God accepting you to his family

So now dealing with the term do you agree Saved is the finality to a concoarse of action with a result ending in salvation?Im not saying that a person walking around saying im saved is this term either.That is the hope of being saved.

God does not turn back from his decisions.So If god saves you,you have made it ,correct!

The term once saved always saved is correct.The verse you quot is the warning if God says your not saved Then your not saved.

I hope in Gods will that none should perish
