I have had alot of people claim that I believe in Cheap or free grace. So I thought I would show what scripture states is true about grace.

Paul in romans 3 tells us there was a payment for Grace, it is not free.

Romans 3: 23 - 24
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. being justified freely by the grace of God through the redemption in Christ Jesus.

we have 3 words here which I want to look at.

1. Justified: comes from the greek word diakosune, which means to be declared righteous, Aquited of guilt.

2. Grace: come from the greek Charis which means unmerited or unearned favor

3. Redemption: Apolytrosis - means to purchase the freedom of someone by paying the price.. or as a judge, to let one go after recieving the payment

So we see three very important things here.

1. We all have sinned, and fall short (missed the mark) of the glory of God, meaning we have failed to meet the just requirement required to save ourselves. For this reason, we Owe God a debt.

2. This debt has been removed, thus we are justified (declared innocent) of this debt By Gods grace. Who made the payment which redeems us.

So what is the payment of Grace. The payment was the death of Christ.

Grace is not free. It was paid for by the blood of Christ. I do not see how this can be "cheap" or "free" Grace. for it is not free at all. It just did not cost me anything. I had already fallen short. Without the payment of God, who loved me (and every one of us) we would have no hope of salvation, because we are the ones with the debt, a debt we could never pay.

I would say that grace is free. It is the free gift of salvation to anyone who will repent of their sin and accept Christ into their life as Lord and Saviour
But the cost after that may be high. We none of us know at that point what God will ask from each of us, and if we do not pay the price required desperate unhappiness is our lot until we finally bow the knee

True brother. But I am not talking about sanctification. I am talking about the price of Justification. Sanctification is another subject..lol

Justification is a one time thing.

Sanctification is a lifetime event

Amen! And this was nothing compared to the wrath he suffered from the Father on our behalf.
