I had an interesting thing happen last night.
Some time after I had signed off here.
I had just finished my reading and prayers, getting ready to relax with some christain music when the power went out.
I found myself in total blackness.
As I reached into the drawer next to my bed, anxious to find any light quickly, I could not help but think of maggiemye's post on spiritual darkness.
Thankfully I quickly found the headlamp I use to read in bed, so I will not disterb my hubby reading late into the night.
What relief to have that light, no longer blind I got up, and went to where I keep the candles for this kind of emergency.
I looked outside to try and see just how big this blackout was, and could only see as far as my light reached, beyond it was total blackness.
I began lighting the emergency candles and setting them about my home, so if anyone awakened they would be able to see their way without stumbling.
When finished, I realised how good the many simple lights were, that now, I was able to see beyond the light that I had, the many lights bringing into view all that was around me and beyond.
I began to consider how important the light given me was, as it was with me where ever I went, illuminating my steps, and showing me where I was, and helping me to step forward to where I needed to go.
But then I also considered the comfort of the additional lights around me, because of these additional lights, I was able to see so much more and beyond the place where I stood, I could see into the next room, I could see beyond the place where I stood and walked.
I began to see how Jesus , the light in each of us that accept Him, gave light to my walk, kept me from stumbling.
But I also considered how, like the candles did, the light carried by all our brothers and sister in Jesus, helps each of us to see beyond the place where each of us is, that the light of Jesus in those around one, lets one see beyond and all that is around one, giving even a glimce of the next room, so that one had a better idea of what lay ahead .
It gave me comfort as I considered it all in Jesus.
That not only does He light our way, but because He lights all of the ways of our brothers and sisters in Jesus. We can recieve a glimce, even an understanding of what is not right in our own sight, but because of His light in all, what is there .
I just thought we might all considerthis in Jesus.
So each of us may see a bit better, not just what is in His light where each of us is.
But maby understand that we are here to help each other in Jesus see what the other cannot.
And also remember that none on us is in the same place, so the directions will be different, depending on where you are. :)
Remember though, we all share the same light, Jesus!

One more thought, Some one quite a distance away had some kind of light in their window, I was amazed that even though they were far from me, their simple light shown brightly in the darkness.
Just a thoughtful consideration.

Remember also. Even though you saw the distant light, if that was a spiritual light, those who do not know Jesus see it to, and are drawn to that light.

Sadly though, As you spoke, I thought of me, having that light, and not watching where the light was trying to lead me, because my mind was elsewhere (the flesh) And I still end up tripping and falling. :(

The final state of the light in us becomes love for God and for each other, even as Jesus has loved us.

I believe that by the time He is ready to come receive us as His bride, that this light will be visible to all.

Thank you my sister Pickles,

The wonderful thing about the light of Jesus is, that even when we fall, we are able to see well enough to get back up and continue.
Thats why I have always loved the scripture,( I have run the race, I have fought the good fight, I have kept the faith).
Keep the faith! :)

Part of the new covenant we live under in Jesus now is that God will not remember our sins and iniquities, any more. As I spend more and more time in this walk, in this life of grace and peace with God, I realize more and more just how much I do sin, how inequitable I am, and how much He overlooks these things so I can continue to draw close to Him. And then I remember that he who is forgiven much, loves much.

When we see Jesus face to face, the one truth we will learn about ourselves is just how much light we really had in this worldly life, which equates to exactly how much love we had.

God is working to create the life of Jesus in us, and if we remember, the most telling attribute of His life was that He had the Father in Him and He was in the Father. As His life is created in us, we will have Him in us, and we will be in Him.

God is love.

And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;
And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. This example is for you pickles

Hi wisdomseeker, forgive me if I misunderstand what you are saying here.
I do understand the point of this scriopture, satan will tempt us.
I hope you did not misundetand the message of this post.
One knows the simple lights are not Jesus, but Jesus in each of us does shine brightly.
Jesus spoke to not putting a lamp under a basket.
Although I spoke to simple candles, the only true light, life is Jesus!
If there is more a point you want to make, please tell me, as I do not want to presume. :)

wisdomseeker, I had hoped for your answer.
As was said, did not want to presume.
But reading over your post I got the impression you thought I was speaking to myself a bit much when I spoke to what I was doing when the power went out.
Im sorry I gave this impression.
I was simply being discriptive, if I had been washing my face and brushing my teeth I would have said that.
I do not always think about how I may be percieved.
My focas was on the blackout and the witness given by the simple lights.
But, consider this as well, satan was not only a tempter, but also he brings judgement and condemnation.
You had good intentions here and spoke to my not thinking about what I said.
I will try to remember and be more careful. :)

No man, when he hath lighted a candle, covereth it with a vessel, or putteth it under a bed; but setteth it on a candlestick, that they which enter in may see the light.:)

Hi wisdomseeker, please forgive me, but I did not know the question you were asking.
A simple question is all that was needed.
Remeber, I struggle in reading with some learning disabuilities, so clarity is always helpful.
In answer to your question..
As a living sacrifice for our sins.
Jesus took our sins, death, for us. Then overcame sin, death, resurection
That we may through His presance in us, die to the flesh.
That by choosing Him, we will live, because of His spirit in us.
By Jesus in us, we die to the flesh, then live in spirit. The presance of Jesus in us.
No one, not one of us is with out sin, we cannot even know what is good.
But the Spirit of Jesus in us brings life, His rightousness, salvation.

In Jesus, God bless.
