Why do you feel that homosexuality is wrong?

I consider myself to be a very religious person, but I have a hard time understanding God's views on homosexuality. I don't think there's anything wrong with it, and can't for the life of me understand why it's considered a sin along with horrible atrocities like rape and so on. Being gay doesn't hurt anyone.

Anyway, I'm curious to know why people here feel it's wrong. I asked a family member this question once and instead of receiving an answer, I was yelled at.

Ummm. . . .so yea that is one reason why I believe homosexuality is wrong. . .because the bible says so. Might I suggest that your first mistake is being religious, Christianity is not meant to be a religion, it is a faith that Jesus died for you sins and rose again. Nothing beyond that matters, the way we live our lives is meant to be a honest joyful response to the Love God shows to us.

Was the exact verse I was going to use. Homosexuality is a sin according to the Word of God, no doubt. This doesn't mean that we shouldn't love homosexuals, we shouldn't look down on them, etc... We should show them love just as any other person we come in contact with.

I agree we are to love them as we would and should love all sinners (yes that includes all of us). Too many christian leaders and christians in general treat homosexuals with such disdain, when they should come alongside in love and show them Jesus.

Agree with loving the sinner but not the sin, thats God's plan :)

He is more focused on saving people than people already saved Amen

I object against peoples quotations of leviticus laws if they then say they don't count under the new testaments 'new covenant' with Jesus.

Because a book written 1500 years ago at a time when the world in general was at its most intolerable says its wrong and claims its the word of a divine being so natrually it is completely true with no chance of infalability.

Protec/ReTrib: God changes NOT. He is always the SAME. Both these statements of His character is found in the Bible. If was against homosexuality in the OT and the NT, and HE changes not, then also today He is against it. You need to decide if you are going to follow your own fleshly desires, understanding that it is an UNCLEAN spirit that is behind what God calls an abomination and deliverance is the KEY to getting free of it. Anyone who practices homosexuality is bound for hell because 1 Peter tells us that those born of God do not choose to sin. ...and the ACT of sexual intercourse is always a choice.

I don't FEEL that it is wrong. I KNOW that it is wrong. God made Adam and Eve, male and female, and commanded them to multiple and fill the earth. He stated this as the basis of marriage... man shall leave father and mother and cleave unto his wife and they shall be one flesh. Nothing in there about same sex relations.

God has also been fairly direct about calling homosexuality detestable or an abomination.

It is contrary to divine design and divine declaration. All sexual immorality is sin.

Those verses are actually assumed by many many biblical scholars to be addressing the issue of temple prostitutes.... People that would have sex with worshipers so they could be closer to the pagan gods of Rome. This is actually a good guess b/c 1 Romans 25.
And yes, Christianity is a religion, by all definitions of the word. And as a proud Christian, I will be the first to say it.

It is an effort to twist the scriptures to ignore the obvious. God made male and female and the sexuality is to be expressed together in marriage only. There is no provision FOR any other context or arrangement for human sexuality. Homosexuality is contrary to God's design and his declaration.

According to your intepretation of scripture. That is a VERY debated topic and that verse specifically is a HUGE controversy. B/c it would've made WAY more sense if Paul had been talking about homosexuality, that he wouldn't have mentioned idolatry in the line before. That points to the issue of temple prostitutes.

Hmm let's look at it from a logical stand point. The act of homosexuality goes completely against the natural purpose of sex, though the argument that other species practice homosexuality isn't applicable to humanity doing this, since we have a conscience and clearly more knowledge than animals. Sex is the biggest sign of intimacy that is designed obviously for a man and a woman. Arguments against this like yours, that it doesn't hurt anybody, well you could say having sex with an animal doesn't hurt anybody, doesn't mean it's right. It doesn't mean it's right because the other person consents to it or likes it either way. Any sane member of the fiber of society, which is a mother, a father, and children would recognize this act as wrong without ever being told so. Because sane parents expect their children to reproduce, and that is something that is impossible to accomplish outside the premises of woman to man sex. So homosexuality goes even against the existence of humanity.

Yea with some people you feel like saying to them, "Wow really so the Son of God comes and saves us so now we can ignore everything God said before that, wow that sounds convenient and ignorant" LOL!
