Re: Schindler's List

Friends,
I watched an old movie, "Schindler's List", yesterday and today.
It is a difficult movie to watch, but it is worth watching.
We should remember not to give in to hate or anti-semitism. And we should not, out of fear, give into Islamophobia. Yes, there is some risk of people who kill in the name of Islam. But these are a minority among Muslims. And we should pray for the peace of Jerusalem, and the salvation of the Jews in Christ Jesus. In Erie PA Scott R. Harrington PS We should pray that all peoples: Christians, Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, etcetera, should all find peace with God through our LORD Jesus Christ. Amen.

Scott1960,

I watched that movie also but at the end of the movie they left out probably the most important part......many people were angry that it was left out also.....they were given guns to defend thereselves.....

This happened in Mel Gibsons movie also...........many were upset that in the movie the Patriot the younger boys had guns and used them..........

Those who want to take our guns away get very upset so they don't want the american people to have gun rights.

Re: Schindler's List

Indeed i dont want to see buring of books cause the saying is true once you burn books people will follow..i certainly do not or would not call for the extermination of any people..I do have problems with what is taught to folks..i dont hate people but i do hate teachings and it is with those false teachings i must oppose....it may be true that those in islam who commit atrocities as a point of percentages this is small..but i believe that the teachings are in Islam and those beliefs are believed in the majority of Islamic peoples though the majority do not act upon them..the issue with islam is its teachings and not in people as individuals..and thus an extermination like the Holoucost would be truly evil and against Gods word..i too hope and pray those of all beliefs come into a saving knowledge of Christ. Without Jesus there is no hope for a person..

the film is excellent and powerful and a grave reminder not to repeat the atrocities of the past..

Re: Schindler's List

Recordings of talks with President Nixon revealed Billy Graham for an anti-Semite who wants to "do something" about Jews in the media. But Graham is a false teacher and a universalist who leads people to hell for a living, so I guess revelations like this shouldn't come as a surprise from a wolf in sheep's clothing.

Whoah, a thread about the Holocaust gets turned into a celebration for American Gun fetish?

Do people watch a film about Nazis shooting Jews en masse and think... I need to get me some guns??

Why not? If someone was trying to kill me, I'd certainly like to have a gun.

Sorry, this is a Christian site, only Christian answers please.
Apparently you aren't familiar with Christianity. What one thing did Jesus tell his apostles to buy? A sword. The Bible is full of accounts in which the Israelites killed their enemies, just as God had commanded them, and God Himself kills people.

He also talked about turning the other cheek.

Jesus never ever mentioned guns and you know that!

You're obsessed because your culture is obsessed ever since your revolutionary war of independence. It's not a Christian thing.

I didn't intend this to be turned into a 2nd amendment debate. The second amendment is there. Live with it. People will get paranoid and think the 2nd amendment will be taken away some day. Go figure. First, the first amendment would have to be taken away, before that could happen. Or people will use the second amendment to take away the first amendment. They will get their private guns, and start a mob in Washington, and start a Christian cult where everyone is forced to believe in their God in the same way, or be punished with guns. See how paranoia starts. I started this conspiracy talk because this is the way some of you seem to be talking. There are actually people in America who worry about this. America will become socialist long before it would ever become a right wing Presbyterian born Again Christian theocracy.
What I was talking about was anti-semitism.
Schindler's list shows Christendom has a "shadow" it needs to learn how to respect and treat with charity and love: Judaism.
Hatred of the Jews is a sign of a soul devoid of God's grace.

Re: Schindler's List

Scott1960,
You are trying to turn this into sympathy for the Jews here. The truth be told this movie was promoted to do that but the movie does not want to protray that they took up arms and defended themselves. No one would see them as defensless Jews then.

The historical reality in most cases (I'm not familiar with this one in particular) was that the Jews did not take up arms and defend themselves. There are various reasons for this. Jewish community leaders were often used by the Nazis to convince the populace to come peacefully, and for their part the Nazis tried to deceive the Jews into believing that the camps were just labor camps, and maintained secrecy about the exterminations as much as they could.

Amen. The Jews largely did not have any army or any defense other

than God. That is the same with most Christians. What about those

nations that do not have a second amendment. And don't depend on

the second amendment to save you. What would save America from a

bunch of Christian Reconstructionist fundamentalists (following the

teachings of Rousas John Rushdoony, etc.) who wanted to turn

America into a Calvinist theocracy by force of arms? Would you like to

see such a "Protestant paradise" here in America? What about the

other Protestants in America who are not Calvinists? Would they want

to see the followers of Calvin set up a theocracy here in America, like

Calvin did in 16th century Geneva Switzerland? Calvin had his own

secret police, and reported people who disagreed with Calvin and his

supposedly bible-based rule of Geneva as a Protestant dictatorship.

Fortunately, thank God, we are far removed in time and space from the

evil days of 16th century Western Europe, with all the wars between

Protestants and Catholics, and the wars between Protestants and

Protestants. But the fruits of the Filioque and the Protestant

Reformation are still with us, here in America, all due largely to the

mistakes and errors of Augustine of Hippo.

Take care.

Re: Schindler's List

Shindlers list is a beautiful movie, I saw it and was moved by the efforts of this man to bring some help to the jewish people where doing so was a crime.
I grew up next door to two survivors of the concentration camps.
They were the gentlest, most respectful and quiet people I have ever known.
I saw the tatoos on their arms and heard the stories of servival from the woman.
You never forget the look in the persons eyes of one that went through this horror.
Her gentle nature has stayed with me to this day, to have so many sorrows, living though the evil they did, and still keep their faith and the kindness they did.
One can only hope and pray, that if we ever face this same, we will be the witness in Jesus that they were to me.
In Jesus, God bless.
