Default How do you feel about what people chat about on here?

Well I guess I'm starting this thread because, many a times, have I came on here for encouragement and to fellowship amongst christians - yet, I come to the chat to find us talking about people and arguing, and occasionally things that are sinful. How can we call this a christian chat when we do not bring God into our chats??

Yes we have Prayer/Bible Study rooms - but why do we have to create rooms for God - and allow rooms for other things - why do we not just bring God into the rooms that are already there??

We should be using this chat for discussing, praising, worshipping God and fellowshipping and building each other up!

Would like someone elses views on this matter??

-NO ARGUING PLEASE Opinions should be valued and considered

I have heard it said that there are two things that should be avoided, arguing about religion/Christianity or politics

But as this is a debating forum and people have many different views and Christians are not perfect by any means(as you can tell by reading some of the threads) I think you are expecting a lot not to expect arguing

Basically you need to be thick skinned and wear a hard hat in this particular forum

But God is gracious. He puts up with our imperfections

It is a good job we are saved by grace isn't it

Friends, There is too much nasty bickering between Protestants who disagree with each other over interpretation(s) of Bible verses. There is too much name-calling and ad hominem personal attack arguments. There is too much sectarianism, and calling any religion that is not Protestant evil, and lumping together under the "evil" label, atheism, Thor, Roman Catholicism, Islam, and Greek Orthodoxy, as if these were all related to and the same as each other! Go figure, some people think anything that doesn't agree with Martin Luther is evil. There is too much obsession with the book of Revelation and Bible prophecy, and too much talk of the antichrist and satan, rather than about God.
Fortunately, there is not too much talk defending Calvinism. But unfortunately, there is too much slander, hatred, poison, and venom against the Holy Trinity. And too much confusion and hatred against the word "persons" in God, because people demand sola Scriptura from everything, when Scripture itself does not teach sola Scriptura!
And there is way too much obsession with homosexuality, and too much talk of that anyone. This is not a forum where we should discuss anyone's sexuality, whether it be normal or abnormal. We should keep our private thoughts private, and our morality is between us, God and the churches we believe in. It's better for the confession time when a Christian has sinned, he/she needs to go to his/her priest/pastor/minister, and confess what he/she has done. We all need forgiveness from Jesus Christ. And the book of James says we should be confessing our sins to one another. That means to the people in the local church.
We should be seeking God while He may still be found.
We should be mere Christians.
We should chat about theology, not personal problems. It's okay if we admit that we are sinners; we should keep this thing real. No matter how true and right and good one's theology is, and how sound one's doctrines are, all people have sinned and fallen short of God's glory. So that is going to be true, to one degree or another, about all the people who write to this forum. Of course, there are times when God's grace is with a person, and he/she does not sin, and it is only God's mercy that restrains a persons from sinning.

PS God bless you, all of you.

when I say - No arguing I mean, no dissing each others views - I ask that people are open minded cause as I'm saying, I like to discuss God, but yet when I go onto the chat - unless I go to bible study, i cant discuss God, and even then, in bible study there usually is a set discussion, where as, i perhaps just wish to discuss something thats happened or that.

I just find in this chat - that people tend to avoid discussing God or act awkward when you do. which is not good at all..I just wanna know how people feel about this subject

LOL the debating does get heated at time, but have you watched the US senate? they just do it with bigger words and millions of dollars and lives at stake.

I think people need to keep these common sense rules in mind when speaking with others and remember God told us to pray for EVERYONE especially those who curse us

Hello

So i generally agree with you here, which is why i mostly stay out of the chat rooms. I like the bible study one though. However i will say i have not been in it since this one incident. A guy brought up a topic (one i thought was interesting) then the others kinda ripped into him basically saying how it was stupid for him to bring that up.

I have been really dissapointed to say the least with a lot of things that have gone on in the chat rooms, which is why i just choose to stay out of them.

I do pop in time to time - to see some people, but generally I dont go in - because this is a christian chat - and theres very little christianity in the chat rooms - i mean wasnt this site MADE for christians to discuss god, the bible, build each other and stuff? I mean, i'm not asking we be religious about things but do remember the purpose for this site.

and thats just wrong! how can they rip someone for discussing God on a relevant site? this is why i tend to stay within my church group - but its difficult because I would like to stretch out into further areas and meet new people and stuff. but its so hard when people dont wanna talk about God.

meh, nobodies perfect I guess.. :/

well except for me ....

I think anywhere you go that puts a lot of different people with different religious backrounds together your bound to have a lot of tension and strife.

There are people out there that wanna talk about God, but its probably hard to find them. I hope you find what your looking for...

have you tried the official Bible study times in the Bible study room? 10 eastern time

they normally talk about the Bible and there are at least two moderators in the room around that time so everyone stays civilized and Christ focused or they get kicked off the whole site.

that is the only time I go on the chatrooms or if someone wants to pray together

Depends who you talk to and when :P , if you talk to me in the morning you'll get some dry and cynical remark if you talk to me at night or during the day you'll get a sarcastic cynical remark mixed with undertones of sympathy and compassion.

Ive been here for a few years now, and saddly have seen more of the cruel words than one would like.
Ive often wondered about staying or leaving.
But, Jesus helped me to see, that these things are not about what one wants or does not want.
All is about His glory and word witnessed!
One must also consider, if one cannot stand and witness in Jesus here, how will one stand in faith when the trully difficult days come in the world ?
I am saddened when one attackes another, but we are called to witness to the truth and love of Jesus.
Seek and witness to what is good and true in Jesus, He will bring His glory, truth and love to all.

in Jesus, God bless.

I joined this site as a sinner seaking God. And for a lil help form Christian people. I have been in the bible study room twice. And both times I heard very lil about God.Just a lot of rhetoric about how pride in America is offensive to God. Reaaly? I am thinking that maybe I should go to a different site.

I just wish we would get off this "Jesus is God" debate. It seems like every thread started ends up being a Jesus is God" fight. Would love to talk about something else!!

I guess I will apologize on behalf on that, because that isn't right - this is the sort of stuff i dont agree with - there alot of us who DO want to discuss God and speak about Him. But sadly however the chat is flooded with discussions that are either not God related or as you say how people have got it wrong - its not good. if you wanna discuss God - you can always message me i will always be up for a chat about Him

Well, some people disagree with the obvious truth (Matt. 28:19) that there are Three Persons in One God: the Holy Trinity. And they attack the people who believe in the Trinity, as people who "indoctrinate" others. Their attacks may not be direct, but they attack the Trinity as "gorilla glue" and "divine siamese triplets", and make it look like anyone who believes in the Trinity is stupid, if not heretical. They don't have the courage to call the Trinity a heresy. They just think their unique "God model" is "better" and "closer to the truth". Go figure. In Erie PA Scott R. Harrington

We will learn much more here than anywhere else, you will learn about different chistians, how they worship God, what they know etc.
but one thig i learned; When you blaspheme, speak ill about God; (not that i do,never.)
they will just rebuke you. But if you say something wrong about their church; They will be ready and willing to hang you. So i have come to the conclusion that most love their club more than God.
