Jeremiah 11 (Amplified Bible)

8Yet they did not obey or incline their ear [to Me], but everyone walked in the stubbornness of his own evil heart. Therefore I brought upon them all [the calamities threatened in] the words of this covenant or solemn pledge, which I had commanded, but they did not do.

11Therefore thus says the Lord: Behold, and calamity upon them which they will not be able to escape; though they cry to Me, I will not listen to them.

14Therefore do not pray for this people or lift up a cry or prayer for them, for I will not listen when they cry out to Me in the time of their evil trouble.

yes, this prophet's commission was to speak the warnings and curses to the Israelites, always related to the Covenant.
why did you choose this passage?
are you saying this applies to the church?

what covenant did they break? they did not worship GOD and lusted after idols and false gods:

Jeremiah 11

10 They have turned back to the iniquities of their forefathers who refused to hear My words, and they have gone after other gods to serve them; ....
11 Therefore thus says the LORD: “Behold, I will surely bring calamity on them which they will not be able to escape; and though they cry out to Me, I will not listen to them. .... 13 For according to the number of your cities were your gods,...
14 “So do not pray for this people, or lift up a cry or prayer for them; for I will not hear them in the time that they cry out to Me because of their trouble.
15 “ What has My beloved to do in My house,
Having done lewd deeds with many? (to worship other gods or things of the flesh is to act the whore to God who is married to His people)
And the holy flesh has passed from you.
When you do evil, then you rejoice.
16 The LORD called your name,
Green Olive Tree, Lovely and of Good Fruit.
With the noise of a great tumult
He has kindled fire on it,
And its branches are broken.

thus His condemnation is spoken to those who do not worship HIM fully with their whole hearts, body and mind through His Grace and mercy and guidance.

God does not BRING EVIL, He PUNISHES it and CLEANSE people and the world from Evil.

Daniel's friends did not burn in the fire.

Hi Zone

Everything in the bible is for us to learn from. Whether it was happening at the time and it involved the Jewish people it is still words for us to pay attention to.
Actually what I had on my heart at the time was the terrible things going on around the world. How people won't listen. Zone I hope you would try not to separate things for Jews and things for Christians so much. All the stories have meanings for us. That's why they are spoken of in the New Testament.
God bless you!

  1. Romans 2:5
But by your callous stubbornness and impenitence of heart you are storing up wrath and indignation for yourself on the day of wrath and indignation, when God's righteous judgment (just doom) will be revealed.
Romans 2:4-6 (in Context) Romans 2 (Whole Chapter)
Hebrews 12:25
So see to it that you do not reject Him or refuse to listen to and heed Him Who is speaking [to you now]. For if they [the Israelites] did not escape when they refused to listen and heed Him Who warned and divinely instructed them [here] on earth [revealing with heavenly warnings His will], how much less shall we escape if we reject and turn our backs on Him Who cautions and admonishes [us] from heaven?

Luke 16:31
He said to him, If they do not hear and listen to Moses and the Prophets, neither will they be persuaded and convinced and believe [even] if someone should rise from the dead.
Matthew 9:4
But Jesus, knowing ( seeing) their thoughts, said, Why do you think evil and harbor malice in your hearts?xx
Romans 2:9
[And] there will be tribulation and anguish and calamity and constraint for every soul of man who [habitually] does evil, the Jew first and also the Greek (Gentile).
