if you understand the parable of the sower, if you know you are rooted and grounded in THE FAITH (the saving faith which is a gift), the same faith delivered once for all to the saints, YOU CAN NOT LOSE YOUR SALVATION.
it's not your doing. if it was up to us, NONE WOULD BE SAVED (except maybe the super-apostles of today)
Scripture answers this for you,

"He who practices righteousness is righteous." Similary, "[w]hoever does not practice righteousness is not of God." Believers sin, but those who put their trust in the Lord neither practice sin nor live in sin, nor are they known by their sin. They do not live a sinful lifestyle, and the pattern of their life is righteousness, not sin.
Salvation comes through faith, whose outcome is righteousness and obedience through the grace of God.

Yes, you can lose your salvation...but it is not so much a losing it as it is giving it up:
Revelation 3:5
' He who overcomes will thus be clothed in white garments; and I will not erase his name from the book of life, and I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.
If God says that He will NOT erase the name of one who overcomes, it also means that He WILL remove the name of one who does not. He can and He will, if you are not an overcomer. Faith without works is dead.

MY dear sister in CHRIST you have not lost your salvation its the devil telling you that and i bet you are still running for your life in your sleep. please stop using scriptures that talk about people either never coming to Christ at all, or renouncing their faith (which was not true saving faith) and walking away, against Christians who are IN CHRIST.

yes i believe you can if you do not continue to work it out with fear and trembling its a gift from God through faith but we cannot abuse Gods grace by doing what we like and expect to still be saved Gods word will judge us on the last day

No, you can not unknowingly your lose salvation. Unfortunately we all mess up from time to time. The bible teaches us that "a humble heart and contrite spirit the Lord shall not despise." This is the very essence of repetance. God will never turn away from you just as long as you never turn away from Him.
However, while a person can not unknowingly lose their salvation, it is possible to willingly forfiet his or her salvation that is, if they were ever truly saved in the first place.. This happens when a person wiillingly and persistantly chooses to indulge in the lusts of the flesh despite the convictions of their heart telling them that it is wrong. This person chooses sin, which has now become an idol in his or her life, over God thus they give up on themselves and God because they feel that can not live without their sin.
Romans 1: 21-25 states "Because when they knew and recognized Him as God, they did not honor and glorify Him as God or give Him thanks. But instead they became futile and godless in their thinking with vain imaginings, foolish reasoning, and stupid speculations and their senseless minds were darkened. "
"Claiming to be wise, they became fools [professing to be smart, they made simpletons of themselves] And by them the glory and majesty and excellence of the immortal God were exchanged for and represented by images, resembling mortal man and birds and beasts and reptiles."
" Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their [own] hearts to sexual impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves [abandoning them to the degrading power of sin], Because they exchanged the truth of God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, Who is blessed forever! Amen (so be it)."
Now please keep in mind that such an occurance doesn't happen overnight. In fact, I truly believe that "backslidding" (as it is ussually called) takes quite a bit of time and contemplation. However, please understand, it's never too late to repent and as long as you are willing to do so, God will never give up on you or turn his back toward you.
There is one more danger that you should look out for. There are some false teachers out there who will teach you that once you repent, once is all it takes and that you needn''t repent ever again. They teach that once you are saved, God only looks to the Spirit and not to the flesh thus you can freely sin and God will simply ignore it so there is no longer need for (authentic) repetance. This is a lie from hell.

In fact, it says just the opposite, that we are to "work out your salvation with fear and trumbling". What this means is that we should never consider ourselves above repentance. People who teach that a person only has to repent once have embraced faulty and deceptive teachings that twist the scriptures so that they may continue to live in sin without taking personal responsibility for their actions. They embrace false docrtine over the scriptures and doing so they have put their trust in their in their own twisted reasoning rather than Jesus Christ himself.
In ending, there are some on these boards who will try to tell you that I am wrong. They will quote a lot of scripture and attempt to convince you that I myself have given in to self righteous. These people are merely upset because I have exposed the flaws in their doctrine which boast that a person can be "saved in sin" rather than saved from sin as the bible so clearly teaches.
I hope this helps you, sister. Just remember that God will never leave you or abandon you and that the vast majority of sin in our lives is a choice and that we don't have to give in to our sinful desires or frustrations if we are willing to turn to God in the moment of temptation (1 Cor. 10:13) .

Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires."

as far as i know, there's nothing in the bible about "messing up".
why do you use passages that are talking about REPROBATES AND APPLY THEM CHRISTIANS?
interesting that part about worshipping and serving created things and not THE CREATOR is in there.
but...you've used proof texts that aren't about saved people at all...to suggest God will turn Christians over to reprobate minds.
if one is a truly converted individual, he will not any longer committ murder, or lust after the same sex, etc.
but as you have said, we STILL FALL SHORT (sin - not "mess up"). anyone who says they are without sin is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
the Holiness people said they reached perfection in this life, and that though they no longer sinned, they MADE MISTAKES.

any true christian is convicted when he sins, and repents, asking for help to stop that thing. eventually he gets the victory.
any true christian knows all too well the battle against the sin nature that continues until the day he dies (including Paul).
most chirstians i know who pray daily ask every day for forgiveness for their sins. they confess their sins to The Lord, knowing He is faithful to forgive.
most true christians i know continue (and even more acutely so as time passes) in awareness of their unworthiness.
repentence UNTO salvation is A ONE TIME OCCURANCE.
repentence and turning from our sins daily is part of the true Christians life.

Often times people give up on God and themselves because they've got sin in their lives that they can't seem to overcome. They read the bible or listen to sermons and feel codemned because their lives doesn't live ip to the standard of scripture. There are some who will tell you that it's impossible to live a life of victory over sin, that you should simply ignore both the sin & condemnation because it's of the devil. That's not true at all! While the bible does indeed state that "there is no longer condemnation in Christ Jesus" (Romans 8:1) , it also says that it is the heart of a man which both sins & condemns and that "if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence toward God." (1 John 3:31).
So the question remains, how can we have confidence toward God? By first understanding the truth found in His word and applying it to our lives, the truth that, through the power of the Holy Spirit, we can have victory over the flesh in this life if so desire it. After all it is every bit a free gift as salvation. Interested? Please read on!
Ephesians 4: 30-31 "And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice."
1 John 3:4-6 "Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness. And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin. Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him."

When I read the bible and it's position on sin, it's obvious that God does not want us to sin. However, I have found that in and of my own strength I am absolutely powerless to do anything about it. How am I supposed to stop sinning when I'm the one who desires to sin in the first place? The flesh is truly corrupt and nothing good can come from it!
However, all is not lost (Praise God!) ...
1st Corinthians 10:13 "No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it."
John 8:34-36 Then Jesus answered them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed!"
John 8:31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

Therefore, brethren, we are debtors—not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

Scripture is clear that (1) While it is possible that there might issues in our lives that God may not be pleased with that we could be unaware of, intentional - premeditated sin is a choice.
(2) In the moment of temptation, frustration or whatever the situation might be that you are tempted to sin, you have a choice to fulfill the temptations of the flesh or to turn (submit) to the Holy Spirit, putting your trust in and focus on Him that He will deliver you in that moment of temptation with His mercy, peace, and joy for "His strength is made perfect in our weakness". (2 Corinthians 12:9)
This my friends is the true nature of God's "sufficient" grace; that not only is He willing to forgive us of past mistakes, He is also willing to intervene in the very moment of temptation to deliver us from possible present and future mistakes. We serve both a mighty and merciful God!
In ending, I leave you with the Lord's prayer, for within this prayer is a reminder of this promise: not only is God willing to forgive you of past sin(s) but that He is also there for you to help you from committing future ones:
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the Kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever.

Scripture is clear that (1) While it is possible that there might issues in our lives that God may not be pleased with that we could be unaware of, intentional - premeditated sin is a choice.
(2) In the moment of temptation, frustration or whatever the situation might be that you are tempted to sin, you have a choice to fulfill the temptations of the flesh or to turn (submit) to the Holy Spirit, putting your trust in and focus on Him that He will deliver you in that moment of temptation with His mercy, peace, and joy for "His strength is made perfect in our weakness". (2 Corinthians 12:9)
This my friends is the true nature of God's "sufficient" grace; that not only is He willing to forgive us of past mistakes, He is also willing to intervene in the very moment of temptation to deliver us from possible present and future mistakes. We serve both a mighty and merciful God!
In ending, I leave you with the Lord's prayer, for within this prayer is a reminder of this promise: not only is God willing to forgive you of past sin(s) but that He is also there for you to help you from committing future ones:
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the Kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever.
Anytime we sin, the Lord disciplines us. This will be true throughout eternity. Discipline is always painful, but it is not permanent.
When we turn from our sin, life is beautiful. Would you expect anything less from the Lord? This will be true throughout all eternity, as well.

No You can not lose something that was given to you as a gift. If you can lose it you have to earn it. Scripture makes it clear salvation is by grace (unearned) through faith in the work of Christ. Not in our own good deeds. We can't lose something we never earned in the first place.
Many will say you can give it back,by departing from the faith, but not even this is true. John speaks on this issue in his first epistle where he states they never really were a true part of the church. For if they were a true part, they never would have "departed" But they Departed to show they never were "of us" or a part of the church!

Church of God - Holiness
The Church of God (Holiness) began in 1886 with the founding of a church in Centralia, Missouri. The movement grew out of disaffected Methodists that had been participating in the Southwestern Holiness Association. The leading cause of their departure from the Methodist Church was their zealous propagation of the doctrine of entire sanctification, and Methodist opposition to the Church of God interpretation of that doctrine. The churches were originally referred to as "Independent Holiness People'". One of the early leaders was John Petit Brooks (1826–1915), who was editor of the Banner of Holiness, and later The Good Way and The Church Herald. He left the Methodist Episcopal Church circa 1886 '.[1]

The doctrine is chiefly associated with the followers of John Wesley, founder of Methodism, from Wesley's understanding of sanctifying grace. The doctrine is defined in Wesley's book, "A Plain Account of Christian Perfection". [1] Perfection can either define the journey to perfection or the state of perfection. Christian perfection is commonly referred to as "going on to perfection".
Perfection is the process of sanctification which is both an instantaneous and a progressive work of grace. It may also be called entire sanctification, in which the heart of the believer is cleansed from inbred sin by the infilling of the Holy Spirit. Christian perfection, according to Wesley, is “purity of intention, dedicating all the life to God” and “the mind which was in Christ, enabling us to walk as Christ walked.” It is "loving God with all our heart, and our neighbor as ourselves".[2] It is “a restoration not only to the favor, but likewise to the image of God,” our “being filled with the fullness of God.”[3]
Historical Orthodox and Catholic teaching
The concept of entire sanctification may initially have come from the Orthodox and Catholic Church's doctrine of theosis. Medieval Christian philosophy held that the concept of perfection might describe creation, but was not appropriate to describe God. The Scholastic, Thomas Aquinas, indicating that he was following Aristotle, defined a perfect thing as one that "possesses that of which, by its nature, it is capable." Also (Summa Theologiae): "That is perfect, which lacks nothing of the perfection proper to it." Thus there were, in the world, things perfect and imperfect, more perfect and less perfect. God permitted imperfections in creation when they were necessary for the good of the whole. And for man it was natural to go by degrees from imperfection to perfection.[8]

While God would never take back the gift of salvation, that doesn't mean that you can't throw it it away. I can't tell you the number of people I have met, who had confessed their sins and began the journey only to turn their bacls to God because they were not able to overcome the sin in their lives. Let's see what Jesus himself has to say about this very issue in the parable of the sower. I will first post the parable itself then follow it up with Jesus' own explaination. I will mark the section relevant to this conversation with ***___***:
Matthew 13: 3-9 (The parable itself)
And He told them many things in parables (stories by way of illustration and comparison), saying, A sower went out to sow. And as he sowed, some seeds fell by the roadside, and the birds came and ate them up.
*** Other seeds fell on rocky ground, where they had not much soil; and at once they sprang up, because they had no depth of soil. But when the sun rose, they were scorched, and because they had no root, they dried up and withered away. ***
Other seeds fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked them out. Other seeds fell on good soil, and yielded grain--some a hundred times as much as was sown, some sixty times as much, and some thirty.

As you can clearly rread for yourself, some people do indeed fall away. As I said in my earlier post, you can not unknowingly lose your salvation. However, one can willingly turn and walk away (that is if they were truly saved in the first place). The thing to remember here is this: Never give up on God and He will never give up on you!

One of the the largest obtacles in the church today are "believers" who refuse to take responsibility for their own actions. Because of this, they have embraced doctrines of compromise. They want to believe that after their inititial salvation that God will no longer hold them accountable for future sin. In fact, they go so far as to claim that once saved a person can turn their back on God, convert to another pagan religion or even worship satan himself, foresaking God and the gospel and still go to heaven when they die. This is another lie from hell!
Jesus (the author of our salvation) clearly teaches that we are to "love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, soul, mind and stregth". He also goes on to say that a "man can not have two masters for he will love one and hate the other".
The idea that a person can be free from sin despite being consumed by sin is absolutely ridulous!

This post is an example of those that violate the finished work of Christ and make God's eternal salvation and keeping power suspect and dependent on one's ability to hate sin and go after holiness. That has nothing to do with the grace of God and will only result in striving in the flesh. Grace is given to edify and build up the believer in the truth and not condemn the believer by making him think that he can forfeit and walk away from redemption. How do you walk away from redemption when the Holy Spirit had sealed you until you go home to be with the Lord?
How these people get by redemption and the fact that we have been purchased and bought by the blood of Christ. We are God's possession and not our own and God takes the rest of our lives to work that in us so that it can be worked out as adopted sons. To listen to these professing believers is just not a good thing and they do not edify the members of God's body with their terrible understanding of the finished work. They do not understand that we have been justified forever by the blood of Christ and the basis for sanctification is based upon the grace of the finished work of Christ that is ministered to us through the word and Spirit as I grow in grace and knowledge of Christ.
