If God loves us so much that no sin can seperate us from Him here on earth, then under what conditions is one sent to hell?? Nobody can follow His law perfectly besides Jesus.

Do not be deceived.

9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God. (1 Corinthians 6:9-11)

6 Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him. 7 Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous. 8 He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. 9 Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God. 10 In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is he who does not love his brother. (1 John 3:6-10)

He who practices righteousness is righteous. Whoever does not practice righteousness (i.e. practices sin) is not of God.

8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. (1 John 1:8)

Believers sin, but they do not practice sin.

23 Jesus answered and said to him, "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. (John 14:23)

9 Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son. (2 John 9)

People who sin and call it righteous and say that Jesus lies and the Bible is a lie. That they do not have to follow the ways of God to get to Heaven and teach others to worship themselves and the world. Proud people who do not REPENT and with a humble heart seek God's guidance. God will lead and chasten those He loves, but if you turn away from God... the only sin unto damnation is rejection of the Holy Spirit and judging your brethren as damned to Hell.

Matthew 5:22
But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment. And whoever says to his brother, ‘Raca!’ shall be in danger of the council. But whoever says, ‘You fool!’ shall be in danger of hell fire.

James 3:5-10 (New King James Version)

5 Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things.
See how great a forest a little fire kindles! 6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell. 7 For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and creature of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by mankind. 8 But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. 9 With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God. 10 Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so.

Matthew 12:31-33 (New King James Version)

The Unpardonable Sin

31 “Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men. 32 Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come.

A Tree Known by Its Fruit
33 “Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for a tree is known by its fruit.

Our Lord did speak of some who's sins "will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come" (Matt. 12:32) which does seem to imply that there are sins that will be forgiven in the age to come. And Paul tells us that when we face judgement our works will be tried. And as for the righteous man who's works don't make the grade? "He will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire" (1 Cor 3:15).

While I know most Protestants don't believe in Purgatory, it is strongly implied from these two verses that we will likely be purged of our faults prior to our entrance into Heaven. It won't be pleasant, "...but only as through fire," but it will enable us to be saved even if our works aren't pure.

I think the only way to go to hell forever is to sin forever. When we sin, the Lord disciplines us, and I believe that is what hell is. However, at the appropriate time, he forgives us, and we leave hell.

Scripture talks of only one sin which will not be forgiven. That is rejection of the Gospel (blasphemy of the spirit) It is the HS who is to teach us the gospel and help us understand, to reject it, or believe in a false gospel is to commit this sin.

If you look there are two judgments mentioned in Gods word.

1. BEMA SEAT: Given to all Gods people, where their works are tried by fire. and they recieve reward (or lack of reward as their works were burnt) But ALL are saved.

2. Great White Throne: Only death and hades will be at this judgment. No child of God is mentioned as being here. The people have their works tried, and are found lacking. All of them are cast into the lake of fire with satan and his demons.

Finally. It would be impossible to repent of all sin. Since we do not even know every sin we have ever commited. Even on a day to day basis. If repentnace of all sin is essential. No one would make it to heaven!

Actually it also states that the sea will give up its dead...unless of course no christians have ever died at sea...or all sailors in all of history were non-believers...

Yes. But Christian sailors who are buried at sea are promised to be resurrected by Christ. These people at the great white throne are delivered to him for judgment.

So in your senario. The christian sailors have already been ressurected, and judged at the bema seat. thus will not be their for the great white throne.
