Loss
I saw you in my inbox
Was much to my surprise
Know you're caught up in the tasks
Of dealing with demise
Can see you sat there on the rocks
Eyes stared out to sea
One hand on your fishing rod
The other on your knee
If I said "Hi how are you?"
What is that going to mean
When I suspect you struggle still
With scares from shattered dreams
Hands of Time and Circumstance
Have carved into your face
Packed up and moved someplace else
Deserted home's old space
So what to do to ease your pain
When you're so far away
I'm at a loss to offer hope
No words of worth to say
But deep inside I do turn
And lift your name in prayer
That you might find God's hope and strength
His love beyond compare
I pray the grip of choking pain
Will ease it's stubborn hold
And though the memories linger on
New life will soon unfold
Like battered driftwood's beauty
On morning's shore of peace
May your hardships smooth and shape
In you a masterpiece
I saw you in my inbox
