We have talked about false prophets, now lets talk about the true ones. I must admit, I am unclear on something. You will see my question. I need to nut it out with someone that can help. I will consider all your answers, but I need proof or good reasoning behind it. Thank you in advance.

Luke 16:16 The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.

John the baptist was the last prophet under the Law.

Christ told us he would send some more prophets; these shall be killed and persecuted.

Matthew 23:34 Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city:

1 Corinthians 12:28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.

Ephesians 4:11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
So, for Christ to set his church up, spread, teach and witness the Word of god, he requires Appostles, Prophets, teachers, evangelists & pastors….and followers of course. These make up the body of Christ. Not just the church building, but all, working together, for each other….for Christ in unity of the truth…..This consists of the brethren.

So, as Christ told us, his prophets came.

Acts 11:27 And in these days came prophets from Jerusalem unto Antioch.
Who were the prophets? Some were mentioned.

Acts 15:32 And Judas and Silas, being prophets also themselves, exhorted the brethren with many words, and confirmed them.

The authors of the gospels (Appostles) reiterated OT prophesies and confirmed future prophesies as revealed by Christ. They were filled with the Holy Spirit when writing and therefore the flow of the truth would of come out of them unhindered. They never claimed to be prophets, but appostles of Jesus Christ.

Except Paul who was called to be an appostle, but not of the twelve, He must of either had a vision or the gift of prophesy move through him, for he wrote of future events concerning the kingdom, for example this one…

1 Corinth 15:51 Behold, I show you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,

1 Corinth 15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

What happened to the prophets?

1 Thessalonians 2:15 Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they please not God, and are contrary to all men:
Matthew 23:34 Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city:

So, were the prophets Jesus sent fulfilled during that time? Or are they continuing now? Was the body of Christ already established for its purpose to spread, witness and bring in new believers to enable the word being available to us here today? Are the prophets that were sent fulfilled? In all honesty, I cant say I know the exact answer to this? For I am unclear on this?

I do know however that they have rules (the prophets)
1 Corinthians 14:29 Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge.
1 Corinthians 14:32 And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.
In other words, only a prophet can deem another prophet to be true. They don’t go solo now, but need to witness each other to verify for us.
And this one, I find misinterpreted all the time.
Acts 2:17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

This last days, is the real last days. This is talking about the 1000 year reign. Israel will be flesh, learning the truth because they are feeding off the Lamb. They will experience the Holy Spirit. Christ will do it again…Establish the truth, but this time from Mt Zion, and to the national Israelites (remnant) and there will be no more confusion or doubt. They will experience the spiritual gifts they missed out on before.. They will prophesy during this time to each other and the outside nations. They will hear the Word of the Lord and embrace it. They will probably prophesy against Gog and Magog, warning nations, just like we have been warned about the False prophet that is coming in our time.

Can you imagine how strong the Holy Spirit is going to be in Israel during the 1000 years? It’s going to be all powerful and amongst their whole nation (every brother)…Like never before… & not like us all now, divided and arguing over interpretations. I’m so excited for them, and for us, for we will witness this amazing event if we endure to the end and keep the good fight.
