It could mean that if your intentions behind the prayer is sinful He won't listen to it

We know that God does not listen to sinners. He listens to the godly man who does his will. John 9:31
1 Peter 3:8-12
"Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind. Do not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, bless, for to this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing. For:
“Whoever desires to love life
and see good days,
let him keep his tongue from evil
and his lips from speaking deceit;
let him turn away from evil and do good;
let him seek peace and pursue it.
For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,
and his ears are open to their prayer.
But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”

James 5:16
"Confess [your] faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.(kjv)

2 Timothy 2:22
"Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

GOD does not hear the prayers of a sinner. a SAINT is not a sinner. We are BORN AGAIN and the old man is suposedto be dead, adn now you have a new life in Christ Jesus.

Anyone who says that a Christian is a sinner, is a liar, and may not truly know the LORD. Will we stumble? YES. But that is NOT practising sin, therefore that is NOT being a sinner. If someone who calls themselves a christian is living in sin we are to stay away from them.

1 Corinthians 5:11
"But now I am writing you that you must not associate with anyone who calls himself a brother but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or a slanderer, a drunkard or a swindler. With such a man do not even eat. "

There are LOTS of evil men in the office of Pastor who use grace as a lisence to sin.

Jude 1:4
" For certain people have crept in unnoticed who long ago were designated for this condemnation, ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into sensuality and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.

Dont follow anyone who says its ok if you sin. Or who says "all christians are sinners" no thats a lie from the evil one.

God does not hear the prayers of a sinner, unless it is from a pure heart. Like the prayer of a destitute sinner cryign out for repentance and mercy. But if someoen living in sin, and unrepentnace or unforgiveness, prays, God will most likely not answer them.

So yes that is correct. God expects Righteousness, and holyness in his followers. Its for there BENIFIT

1 John 3:4-10
"Everyone who makes a practice of sinning also practices lawlessness; sin is lawlessness. You know that he appeared to take away sins, and in him there is no sin. No one who abides in him keeps on sinning; no one who keeps on sinning has either seen him or known him. Little children, let no one deceive you. Whoever practices righteousness is righteous, as he is righteous. Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil. No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God’s seed abides in him, and he cannot keep on sinning because he has been born of God. By this it is evident who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother"

God will answer the prayers of HIS children. And HIS Children are not sinners.

I hope this maybe shed soem light on some thigns. Jesus bless you.

so you are saying we should not associate with "sinners" but are we all not sinners because it says we are born into sin therefore we are sin so God died to save us from sin but until we are in heaven with him we are still sinners because of our flesh is this not true?

no, we are not to associate with people who call themselves CHRISTIANS who practice Sin. A Follower of Jesus is a SAINT of the MOST HIGH GOD, he is no longer a sinner. We are to Crucify our flesh. If you are BORN AGAIN OF GOD, of SPIRIT then you are led by the Spirit.

"For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God." Romans 8:14

And when you are BORN AGAIN yo put to death the old sinner. You Crucify your flesh with Jesus, on the Cross. MOST Christians are NOT Born again. they profess with there Mouth that Jesus is LORD but there hearts are far from Him. If you live IN the flesh, yes then you will sin. But if you live in the SPIRIT then you live in the Strength of GOD. and you DO NOT LIVE in Sin.

"And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires." Galatians 5:24

You must confess that Jesus is LORD with your mouth, in your heart, and in your life. if Jesus is LORD, then HE owns you. YOU must obey him. and repent of all sin. If anythign is an IDOL, if anything comes before Christ in your life, then you are living in Sin. that measn ANYTHING. If there are worldly thigns in your life then Ask Jesus about them, ask him how HE feels about them. We need to CONSTATNLY talk to the LORD, he hears us and responds.

GOd judges the heart, We need to be Born again, ask for HIS spirit to come and clean us of ALL unrghteousness. And THEN we must LOVE God with all out heart, soul, mind and strength. And LOVE of GOD is obedience. (1 John 5:3 "For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome.")

IF we want to Please the LORd, then in faith, we MUST die to Self. JEsus said, If you want to follow me, if you want to be my disciple you MUST, Deny self, pick up your cross, adn follow HIM. Follow him on the NARROW path. its narrow becasue it is TOUGH. it is not an easy road where we get to jsut do what we want to becasue we said a prayer once. its about Suffering, and dying to this flesh. But GOD gives us the strength to get through it, but we need to get ON the road first. We ALSO have to floow him to DEATH. We MUST die in this life. DIE to our desires, and SELF. There has been a gospel of SELF going around for way to long amongst Christians. Self is The WORLD.

We CANT do the thigns of the WORLD and expcet to be following Jesus. We cant expect to say "Yes i love Jesus" and not obey him. If you are SERIOUS about your walk with Jesus, then it takes YOU to humble yourself before him, adn ask him daily for HIM to be your life. Jesus MUST be our life. We are not to HAVE a life any more unless it is CHRSIT JESUS ( "Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it." MAthew 10:39)

There has been TOOO many peopl out there that say you can do what ever you want to, and jsut go to church on sunday, adn youll be fine becasue you said a prayer once. NO! it takes Dedication to YOur MASTER, to JESUS we are HIS.

So No Sinners are chidlren of God. JEsus DIED for Sinners, to make them RIGHTEOUS, but we MUST be righteous, which is only possible IN Jesus.

that is why Jesus died on the cross. through faith and His grace we are propitiation by His blood (which means He replaced our sinfulness with His righteousness) so that we might live righteous lives through CHrist Jesus and the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

we are sinful but through Jesus we are made righteous so now the Lord will hear our prayers. if you stumble, confess in prayer to the Lord, repent (turn away and avoid things that will tempt you to sin again) and God is quick to forgive a humble and contrite heart.

Romans 3:24-26 (New King James Version)

24 being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25 whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, 26 to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.

then we all are going to hell, because there is NOT ONE person who is sinfree... no matter how hard me might try. I am not saying we should intentionally sin, but we are in a sinful nature... if we have to be perfect in order to recieve salvation, then it is no longer salvation, but a reward for "behaving"

that philosophy is called legalism and spoken against in the Bible. can I suggest you read your bible more and allow God to guide you? we are but fellow travelers learning how to get home to Our Father in Heaven and will make mistakes but GOD can show you the answers to your questions. I've found I get more confused when talking to people about things that really lay on my heart and God has better answers then those around me. I like talking to others for comfort and reassurance but for true answers about life's problems I seek answers from the Lord. just a suggestion and reminder.

Dear Lord, we seek understanding of your Holy Word and will for our lives. Please open our eyes so we might see Your truth and open our ears so we might hear Your Words and open our hearts and place in us a will and desire to do YOUR Will on Earth as it is done in Heaven. Give us today our daily bread and forgive us our trespass as we forgive others theirs. Lead us not into temptations but deliver us from evil for thine is the power , the Kingdom, the glory For ever and ever. Amen

Colossians 2:6-15 (New King James Version)

6 As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, 7 rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it[a] with thanksgiving.
8 Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. 9 For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; 10 and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.

Not Legalism but Christ

11 In Him you were also circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the sins of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ, 12 buried with Him in baptism, in which you also were raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead. 13 And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, 14 having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. 15 Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.
