I just wanted to know what you thought the seal of God was. I always thought it was the Holy Spirit but then why did the Lord tell an angel to go and place marks on His people in Revelations?

Here are the scripture verses. does anyone have insight into the question?

Revelation 7
2 Then I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God. And he cried with a loud voice to the four angels to whom it was granted to harm the earth and the sea, 3 saying, “Do not harm the earth, the sea, or the trees till we have sealed the servants of our God on their foreheads.”

I read some passages in the Old Testament about it as well but can't find them right now.

I read in Ezekiel 20 before that the Sabbath is a sign, If the Sabbath is a sign then how is it a sign? Maybe because He puts His name on it? What about the mark of the beast would that be a counterfeit of the seal of God?

My pastor preached about Memorials last Sunday and he said that the Sabbath was a memorial to God in to remind us that God created the world and then rested. the Sabbath was created for men, so that we take the time each week to devote one day totally to GOD and doing God's will and not our own selfish desires.

He spoke about the stones Joshua had erected as a memorial to remind God's people how the Jordan parted and the people crossed on dry land as a way to teach the children of God about the power, will and love of God.

Also other memorials in our Christian life are baptism, communion, and our very lives should be lived in a manner that is a memorial to GOD.

That is what the pastor listed last Sunday.

as for your other two questions I don't know. how does God put His name on the sabbath and how would the mark of the beast be a counterfeit of the seal of GOD when we don't know what that is?

if God's seal is the Holy Spirit, then would satan's mark be an unholy one?

Hebrews 4

The Promise of Rest

1 Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it. 2 For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them,[a] not being mixed with faith in those who heard it. 3 For we who have believed do enter that rest, as He has said:

“ So I swore in My wrath,

‘ They shall not enter My rest,’”
although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. 4 For He has spoken in a certain place of the seventh day in this way: “And God rested on the seventh day from all His works”;[c] 5 and again in this place: “They shall not enter My rest.”[d]
6 Since therefore it remains that some must enter it, and those to whom it was first preached did not enter because of disobedience, 7 again He designates a certain day, saying in David, “Today,” after such a long time, as it has been said:

“ Today, if you will hear His voice,
Do not harden your hearts.”[e]

Interesting if I get the opportunity I'll ask him or the next pastor I talk to. lol :)

what do you think it means?

I think it can still a memorial of the promise made by God that eventually we will have Rest if we but believe and are obedient to run the race set before us by Christ Jesus in this life. upon death and ressurrection we will be able to enter God's rest which is Heaven for our work will be done.

Please read rev14:1. 144000, having the fathers name written on their forehead.

Gods NAME is the seal of God. His Character.(not a title)

Ezekiel 9:4.....'And the LORD said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof. .'

Revelation 3:12 “and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.”

And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are. While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name…” John 17:11-12

So maybe it could be this? Im not sure. Seems like it to me at this moment though.

SEAL of GOD= His Character. God seals us in his SON. Being ONE with Jesus.(not just in word, but in character)

MArk ofthe Beast= beasts Character/SELF. Marked with self worship of nature. MAN. world. being ONE with the WORLD.

I could very well be wrong. this is just what i have gathered as of now. Jesus bless you.

It just means people who have yet to recieve Christ. But in God's omniscience he knows they will. so he is protecting them until they are sealed with the spirit by being born again.

As for the sabbath. It was a day of rest. which we all need. we would not be so worn out and stressed out emotionally and physically if we actually did what God did and rested one day a week.

The jews took it out of context and made it a religious thing. It is no such thing. Nor is it a memorial to God where we are to spend worshiping him. We should do this every day. Not one day a week.

Ephesians 4:30
And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. (see also Ephesians 1:13-14)

II Corinthians 1:22
Who hath also sealed us, and given us the earnest of the Spirit in our heart. (which is the love of God shed in our hearts by the hope that the Holy Spirit gives us Romans 5:5)

As for the Sabbath I believe that Jesus is our true Sabbath:
Matthew 11:28-30
28) Come unto Me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you REST.
29) Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find REST unto your souls.
30) For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.

This is as someone wrote earlier, I believe what the writer of Hebrews was talking about:
9) There remaineth therefore a REST to the people of God.
10) For he that is entered into His REST, he also ceaseth from his own works, as God did from His.

Are we not as believers in Christ, save apart from our own works (Ephesians 2:8-9); but yet created a new man that by the Holy Spirit we will produce true works of God. (Ephesiasn 2:10). For our faith works by love (Galatians 5:6)

Ive wondered about this as well.
Still wondering now. :)
But, the comfort is that this will be given to those in Jesus that love God Our Father.
This promise is our rest in Jesus.

God bless.

Revelation 7:3 says that the seal of God is placed in the foreheads Rev 14:1 says that the Father's name is written in the foreheads Rev 3:12 says that those who overcome shall have written upon him the name of God and the city of God we may not understand everything about the seal of God but it says that we have to be over comers to receive it, Rev 13 & 14 talk about those who receive the seal of God and those who receive the mark of the beast and says of God's people in Rev 14:12 "Here are they that keep the commandments of God and have the faith of Jesus".
The mark of the beast is a counterfeit to the seal of God cause in Rev 13: 16, 17 says that people will not be able to buy or sell unless they have the mark or the name of the beast or the number of his name in the foreheads. While God's people will keep the commandments there will be another group who will try to force people to worship another and get people to break God's commandments. So the question is who will we serve?

A better question would be "what the seal of God is not". The seal is definitely Holy Spirit however, the Holy Spirit is not a bunji cord attached to the waistes of sinful believers which keep them from falling into the fires of hell as they indulge in a lifestyle of sin & selfishness.

The Holy Spirit is so much more. He is the Spirit of the Living God dwelling inside of believers. The Apostle Paul calls Him "Christ in us, the hope of glory". He is our companion, our guide, our teacher and the giver of all God's gifts to us.

Regardless of how you perceive Him, the Holy Spirit is on the same page (level) as both the Father and the Son thus there is nothing to fear or worry about. Scripture tells us that they are as one. Neither is jealous of the other or superior to the other. They function as one to achieve the exact same purposes. Neither will act independently of the other.
