I have heard ministers say, in response to the question "Out of all the religions in the world, hw do we know we are the ones who are right?" that if it just so happened that we were wrong, I would be happyknowing I believed something.

This, of course, sounds like the perfect answer to any question about philosophy. New agers say the same thing. So do atheists, and people of other religions. But I personally have never been satisfied with this answe, for some reason. It just doesn't sit right with me that I have to live a "fake it until you make it" life. That isn't living or thriving; it is surviving. So is that all we are breathing for is to survive?

What is your view of it?

I believe the Bible teaches and puts to words the laws and the nature of God He has already revealed to all of His creation He lays out the moral laws to Moses in the ten commandments not because they are not already established and known since Adam and Eve, but because of sin people had forgotten or refused to listen to the spiritual laws that govern the world. they are still in play today in ALL religions. we have the law of karma and other things that say if you sin you will be punished.

(one example is that from Adam to Moses people still sinned and died and if they did not have the law how can they be judged as sinning? therefore they had to already know the law but refused to follow them).

people like adding if you do good good will come but we can not do good if we deny God and His hand in creation for it is a sin to do so. If we think it is US and not God at work and controlling this world. the difference between Christianity and other religions is it is the ONLY one that says Jesus died for our sins and is our Mediator in Heaven when we sin, our Comforter when we weep, and our Teacher when we strive to learn.

others "gurus" want you to worship them and become their disciples but they are merely men who sin as well, why follow them?

The Bible is like no other book If you go to a place where there is people and open any book people will take very little notice, but if you open the Bible people will look and take note the Bible has power to change peoples lives no other book in the world has this power one third of the Bible is prophecy there is prophecies about nations which have all come true such as the Bible says that the ancient city of Babylon would never be rebuilt Saddam Hussian knew of this prophecy and tried to prove the Bible wrong by rebuilding it he was a dictator in his country but was not able to do it why? Because the Bible says so Daniel 2 says that Europe would never unite Hitler knew of this prophecy and fought against God to disprove the Bible, but he failed why? because the Bible says so many others in the history have tried to unite Europe, but have all failed why? because the Bible says so there are many other prophecies in the Bible which proves that it is of divine origin look at the amount of prophecies about Christ's first coming there is to fulfill that the ratio is quite high no other book in the world has prophecies like the Bible look at what the Bible has done for peoples lives.

God Bless

Ofcourse the bible is right. It is written by GOD himself. And how do you know if your "religion" is right ? You just have to have trust, but isnt it obvious that GOD excists ? Things that stood in the bible to been happen really did happened. GOD does miricals, he fills people with the holy spirit, he heals people. Other "religions" were made to keep you of the real GOD.
If you have a relationship with Jesus it isnt surviving anymore but living.
Your life really starts when you have a relationship with Him, it wont feel like surviving anymore because you know he is with you and he loves you.
I hope I helped, if not Im sorry.
God bless,
David

IF the Bible was wrong, and I was sent to hell for believing it, it was God's will for that I am where I am sent. However, I do believe in the inerrancy of the Bible. God's Word CLEARLY proves itself TRUE. There are loads of verses that prove this true... Plus, only this belief points everything to Jesus. Quite frankly, other religions point glory to themselves. Christianity serves all glory to Christ. :) Christianity accepts you as imperfect. Grace is above law for us believers. :)

Praise be to Jesus! Soli deo Gloria!

This is the problem protestants face, as their religion tends to be all about the bible and that's it.

Other traditions like Eastern Orthodox have it as their daily practice, to get closer 'experientially' to God. So for them it's not about rhetoric or apologetics or rules of the bible only.

It's about the faith walk.

There is more to learning and our existence than left brained rules being drummed into us.

There are 2,400 actively-practiced religions on Earth. How can you be sure you picked the correct one? based on the geographic location of your birth and where you were raised? Doesn't that seem quite arbitrary? Based on the popularity of your faith? Remember: The truth is still the truth even if no one believes it, and a lie is still a lie even if everyone believes it.

The bible is true, know by faith and facts surrounding it, so I don't worry about such silly questions that the world pose to us.

It doesn't sit right with you, because its stupid. Having a belief isn't a virtue.
Having true beliefs is... but since we are not omniscient, basing beliefs (unbelief; position) on the best evidence and reasoning is, if we are wrong after that, then just accept there are limits to what we can investigate.

Simply, Jesus asked me to believe.
When one believes, one sees.
Faith rests not in what is seen, but what is unseen.
The evidence lives in the heart of the believer.
Jesus, is more real than that which is seen and known in the world.
His presance, is a love and care that cannot be imagined, He is!
I could give many stories, but the truth lays not in the story, but in faith.
Jesus is real and presant!
You need to have faith to see, the rest is given in Jesus.

God bless.

I would not be satisfied if the Bible was false. For the Bible itself tells us that if any prophecy is untrue, then we are to reject it for it comes from the Bible. So if the Bible was found to be false, I would reject based on what the Bibles says itself.

If the Bible is false, then Jesus never really was God, or didn't even exist for that matter (what's it matter if he did if the Bible is false)

So, if Jesus is not real, then we are still in our sins and not forgiven by God.

If our sins are not forgiven by God, then we must work for our salvation and work towards God.

The main religions that teach this are Islam and Judaism, outside of some religions within Christianity.

So, if these are true, then we must balance out our scales of good and evil. There is now no guarantee that we will be saved (in the case of Islam), and there can be no human Messiah returning to save us (in the case of Judaism).

Now, if these aren't true, then we go off to the other religions.

If they aren't true:

a) We can only possibly be deists

b) There is no God.

If there is no God, then there is no objective meaning to life. We are all just walking gene-bags with neurons that fire off, deceiving us into thinking they're "emotions." There is absolutely no point in me writing this at this time if there is no meaning to life, for I'm wasting my time writing about a "fairytale."

If the Bible isn't true, there is no Way, nor Truth, nor Life.
And no one gets to the Father.

The intersting thing that should be considered.
Is that the christian faith is the only one where God gives His Son for our sake.
The only faith, that where faith is the main reqirement, the rest is given, and brought in one by Jesus through the Holy Spirit.
All other religions Ive seen, speak to what one brings in self, what one earns.
Jesus, is about what He gives and brings in you!

God bless.

Ask Christians in North Africa who are being killed by the thousands each day for converting from Islam to Christianity, or "at least" are disowned by their families (in many cases).

Jesus is the Truth, and the only man in history to make this proclamation and back it up.

There are 2,400 actively-practiced religions on Earth.

Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. (Matt. 7:13)

Numbers mean nothing to me.

How can you be sure you picked the correct one?
Doesn't that seem quite arbitrary?

Christianity is the only religion where I can be sure its the correct one.
In other religions you have to work for your salvation (Islam, Judaism), or there is no salvation (Buddhism, Hinduism), You don't know if you're saved or not (in Islam jihad is the only guarantee)

Based on the popularity of your faith?

By the looks of it, the teachings of Jesus do not seem to be too popular with many today.

Remember: The truth is still the truth even if no one believes it, and a lie is still a lie even if everyone believes it.

Is that statement absolutely true?

This, of course, sounds like the perfect answer to any question about philosophy.
How does having incorrect beliefs be the perfect answer for philosophy when philosophy is for finding truth?

If the holy spirit has touch you there is no faking about it,this only means that God is calling you, dont resist for its a good calling,he wants you to join, and come and learn of him so you also can have life and be with him forever.

I personally don't have a problem with the bible not being true. It is a wonderful resource for poetry and history and understanding how early people came to grips with understanding the world and their place in it. Early cultures fascinate me. There are plenty of good things to get out of the bible even if it is not true.
