I just wanted to know if people believed in spiritual gifts and if you had a story about how God has worked miracles in their life to bring you closer in your walk with Jesus.

I believe in spiritual gifts and that we need to learn how to use them to the edification of the church. Faith and grace are listed as gifts from God among other things. I don't think God changes and can still do the things He did all throughout the Bible. I don't think they are just allegorical and figurative language when it says Jesus casted out demons and healed the sick and made blind men see.

What do you think and believe?

I heard the testimony of a woman who told me how she was knocked in the head by a rotten apple her brother throw at her and she was in the hospital with blood in her brain. the doctors said she would most likely be blind, but a lady, her roommate who had leukemia crawled out of bed and spent all night praying over her and the next morning she was healed and could see. the lady told me she never knew the other lady's name but she believed that her prayers were heard by God and they were answered.

It is testimonies like hers that tells me that God is still at work in the world. do you have testimony of how God's spirit still gives gifts to His people?

Do you believe in Spiritual gifts?

Not my illustration, hope michael hunt doesn't mind. too late to change the picture :)

next question? I believe God wants us to have all the ones listed above but there is debate about the gift of prophecy, speaking in tongues, healing, ministry, evangelism, etc. do you only get one of those a person and function in that one gift or can there be more than one gifting for the edification of the church?

How does the church work as a functioning Body of Christ?

How do you know what gifts God has given you? how do you know its not your own pride but actually God speaking about the subject?

I believe God would let you know if you had a gift. People in the Bible had dreams and visions or heard from angels. You know you have a gift when something happens, like people who speak in tongues, they start speaking in tongues.

I believe we all as Christians have at least one specific gift all the time. However, the Holy Spirit can chose to use any gift with anyone at any given time. Mine is Discernment and Edification. However God has used me by giving a word of wisdom, and knowledge even though I don't consider myself wise or knowledgeable. He has also used me at different times for healing and miracles that I have no way of knowing other than He did it through me. I can't say I have ever interpreted tongues, however I have had the gift of tongues at different times. As for faith, we all have a measure of faith. Without it we could not believe in Jesus.

"Christianity is not about how much faith we have, but Who our faith is in." Heard that the other day and it sort of stuck :)

Good question and very nice illustrations. :)

redneck? lol don't really know what you mean but it sounds like something my mother in law would say. I think the gift of mercy is wonderful. we all need some mercy in our lives :) and you are special. God made you and as they say God don't make no junk. :)

I think God gave us gifts so that we can look at our brothers and sisters and learn how to be more like God in the way we see them treat others and themselves, for we are to all grow and build each other up in love and faith.

Yes, I believe in all the gifts and believe also that these gifts can be given at any time in one or more.
All given so that God will be glorified.
Ive seen these gifts given, and have known these gifts in my own life.
I think the only danger is when one thinks such gift make them as more , or above, or better.
Or that they are the controller of these gifts.
God Our Father does what please Him, all is by His hand a will, we are but clay.
What often amazes me is how one see these gifts as something so much greater, when one simply looks a what is Gods creation, why woud one see these gifts as standing apart.
Simply breathing is a mirical.
All is Gods creation and gift!
One should recieve all, as Gods gift, and know that nothing is impossible with God!

in Jesus, God bless.

Yes I believe and know that I know the power of God is moving. I see his power moving all the time.
Last last he was moving as we laid hands in his wonderful name Jesus. Healing came. Demons were cast out.
All glory to God most high!!!!!!!!!!!!

you can have more then one gifts and Apostles have all of them. that is why most who claim to be Apostles are false. they do not pass the Biblical test of apostleship.

If you meet one claiming to be an apostle he should look like this:

1 Corinthians 4:8-15

New King James Version (NKJV)

8 You are already full! You are already rich! You have reigned as kings without us—and indeed I could wish you did reign, that we also might reign with you! 9 For I think that God has displayed us, the apostles, last, as men condemned to death; for we have been made a spectacle to the world, both to angels and to men. 10 We are fools for Christ’s sake, but you are wise in Christ! We are weak, but you are strong! You are distinguished, but we are dishonored! 11 To the present hour we both hunger and thirst, and we are poorly clothed, and beaten, and homeless. 12 And we labor, working with our own hands. Being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we endure; 13 being defamed, we entreat. We have been made as the filth of the world, the offscouring of all things until now.

every gift has a purpose. the main one of all is edification of the church and testimony of Jesus Christ and that God Lives!

  • And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word, By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus. (Acts 4:29-30)

  • To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; (I Corinthians 12:9)

  • And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. (I Corinthians 12:28)

  • Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret? But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way. (I Corinthians 12:30-31)

  • Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. (James 5:14-16)

Hi there AnandaHya

It seems you are searching. Knocking. And yes asking. But God has granted you wisdom not to speak to suddenly out of term so that you may receive the joy of having the answers to your questions. Being called by God as an apostle is an awesome responsibility. A very difficult one too. If you are serious for knowledge, I will share my bread with you. If you wish to brag about what you know, my pearls will remain with me. I am a Word Guardian. One to whom is entrusted a word. Which word. Well, let's not get ahead of ourselves. First I would like to know, what do you wish to know about the gifts. And to what end do you want to know. Is it for glamour? Or grace? As you reply your spirit will mingle into your words automatically and I will feel if you are sincere. Do you wish to know about the gifts in 1Cor12. The 9 gifts presented. Or would you like to understand the gifts in Ephesians about Apostles, Prophets, etc. Or perhaps Both. If you ask. I shall answer what I know. That is of coarse if you are a fellow bread-taker. Or simpy put, child of God.

Peace be with you.
