James 2:6 says "do not the rich oppress you"
Does anyone know any examples of being oppressed by rich people?
Do you believe that they still oppress people?
Do you consider yourself a rich person?

Do I consider myself rich? Well depends...
If you have food in your refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof over your head and a place to sleep, you are richer than 75% of this world. If you have money in the bank or in your wallet, you are among the top 8% of the worlds wealthy.

I guess I'm wealthy.

Ever have a job where you work hard for an employer, the employer is doing very well. You get to work early, leave late, do your best. Your productivity is at peak all year. Your supervisor likes you, no one has a bad word to say against you. At the end of your one year service, you get a .75 raise and 1 week vacation that has to be scheduled around someones schedule?

That, IMO, is oppression. It goes on every day.

Hehe this made me laugh.

Okay, first off, the rich DO NOT oppress us any more than the poor oppress us. Sure, they have this...

and this.....

.....but that doesn't mean they oppress people. Yeah, sometimes the rich do act snobbish, but I have found them to be the friendliest people. Whenever I'm in the rich neighborhoods almost everyone who passes by smiles and says hy. When I go in the poor neighborhoods I do get people who smile and say hy, but most of the time the guys just stare at you and all the women look down at the ground when you go by. Rich kids can be bratty. Grrr makes me mad when I see some 16yr old cut in front of everyone etc. in HIS brand new Mercedez:rolleyes:. BUT, this has nothing to do with the rich oppressing us.
Frankly, I don't think the rich oppress us. I think that the rich oppressing people was more of a problem in Bible times, and is more of a problem in third-world countries, not in the U.S.

This happens to my dad. He works for Lowes as a department manager in plumbing and before that worked about 10 years as a manager of the plumbing depart at Builder's Square(which is now closed). His schedule is completely crazy. Some days he will have to be AT WORK by 4 a.m. and other times he closes, which means working from 2pm-11pm. The hours are not even scheduled so the closing and opening alternates. There have been days where he has to close one day and then open the next. He makes about average income(roughly 30,000) and I see CEOs of banks that were bailed out giving huge bonuses to people and other CEOS of places like ETNA(a rip off insurance company) making millions. My dad works extremely hard. People like my dad and you are the ones who MAKE the companies go, not the suites in the office, and it is beyond me how a person can say the big bosses are not taking advantage of hard working underlings like my father and getting rich as a result.
