Genesis 2:7 And the the Lord God planted a garden eastwood in eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.

Genesis 2:15 And the Lord God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden, to dress it and to keep it.

Question: Where did God form Adam?

5 Now no shrub had yet appeared on the earth and no plant had yet sprung up, for the LORD God had not sent rain on the earth and there was no one to work the ground, 6 but streams came up from the earth and watered the whole surface of the ground. 7 Then the LORD God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.
8 Now the LORD God had planted a garden in the east, in Eden; and there he put the man he had formed.

Somewhere on earth.

He formed Adam In the palm of His hands. He could have been standing on the ground; He could have been hovering in the air; He could have been sitting on a cloud; He could have been in His studio in heaven while creating Adam.

Perhaps the question should be 'where did God get the dust from?' Perhaps He got the dust from the garden of Eden.

Iraq. Unless He flew Adam to the Garden on a jetliner. Always a possibility.

Thanks for that. It looks more like he did not use the dust from the Garden of Eden, but formed them somewhere else and then took them and placed them into the garden.

Whenever God talks about north, west , south & east, he always refers the direction from Jerusalem. The city Jerusalem did not exist then, but the actual ground did. So the Garden of Eden was East of Jerusalem. (Eastwood > > > > in Eden)

So this brings me to wonder. Maybe the dust God used to form man was actually in Jerusalem? because he took Adam east.....God choose Jerusalem right from the beginning didn't he. That very ground.

Now this leads to my next question.
Why did God not make the Garden of Eden in Jerusalem? I mean this was paradise wasn't it? God's chosen place.

Can anyone see the reasoning behind it?

Genesis 2
8 The LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden, and there He put the man whom He had formed. 9 And out of the ground the LORD God made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
10 Now a river went out of Eden to water the garden, and from there it parted and became four riverheads. 11 The name of the first is Pishon; it is the one which skirts the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold. 12 And the gold of that land is good. Bdellium and the onyx stone are there. 13 The name of the second river is Gihon; it is the one which goes around the whole land of Cush. 14 The name of the third river is Hiddekel; it is the one which goes toward the east of Assyria. The fourth river is the Euphrates.

Revelation 21
10 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the great city, the holy[h] Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, 11 having the glory of God.

Revelation 2:7
“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God.”’

Revelation 22:2
In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

Revelation 22:14
Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city.

mmm wonder if two different rivers can have the same name? now where is the tree of life located?

Genesis 3
22 Then the LORD God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of Us, to know good and evil. And now, lest he put out his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever”— 23 therefore the LORD God sent him out of the garden of Eden to till the ground from which he was taken. 24 So He drove out the man; and He placed cherubim at the east of the garden of Eden, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the tree of life.

No ones really sure, but they think it's somewhere in Iraq.
I always thought it was in Heaven and that the rivers in the Middle east are just reflections of the Heavenly realm. Like how to build the temple, altar and stuff told to Moses are reflections of what was seen by John in Revelations.

Don't know why people want to worship a place and not God...

how can it be in Iraq?

The Bible never said the Garden was destroyed, just that Adam and Eve were casted out and that A Cherubim and Sword guarded the entrance. do we see this anywhere in Iraq?

Since we know God is Spirit why wouldn't Eden be in the Spiritual/ Heavenly Realm?

Are we talking about the same thing here Ananda?

You asked me where I thought the Garden of Eden is? The area man thinks it's in .. is called Iraq now, ex Babylon, ex whatever. No one knows exactly where it is, but scripture gives us a clue. It's not important, but it's interesting.

If you are talking about the tree of life, yes thats the Word of God and is symbolic.

What I'm asking is ....why would God form Adam and Eve and take them east from Jerusalem? It's pretty Obvious they were formed in Jerusalem, but the Garden is eastwood in Eden. The Garden is not in Jerusalem but is Eastwood >>>from Jerusalem. I suppose we can look at a map and see where that river parts into four and what land it covers? but that is beside the point.

Ps, The Garden would of been destroyed in the flood.

Hi Journey,

It narrows it down to really as much as we know. we don't know for it does not say.

1 Corinthians 15:47
47 The first man was from the earth, a man of dust; the second man is from heaven.

It may have been int he region of Mesopotamia, however, just because we thinkt hat the garden was there it does not mean the dust of the earth was from that region...?

If God can move a large city from heaven to earth in Revelation 21 then He can move a garden from earth to heaven probably before the flood

Genesis 7:23
(23) And every living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground, both man, and cattle, and the creeping things, and the fowl of the heaven; and they were destroyed from the earth: and Noah only remained alive, and they that were with him in the ark.
Genesis 2:9
(9) And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
Revelation 22:14
(14) Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

where is the tree of life located if not in Eden? why did God send Adam and Eve OUT of Eden?
Ananda, the tree of Life is not a real tree, it's symbolic of the Word of God. The tree of life is Spirit. It can be whereever God puts it, as it comes from him.

In this case, God created the heavens and the earth, and started with a beautiful garden putting the first man there. God's spirit was also there, he was tending to his creation. He provided everything for them. He spoke to them. He gave them some simple instructions. So the tree of life was in the midst of the garden, because God was there with them, watching, listening. etc

The tree of knowledge & good & evil was a real tree Adam & Eve ate the fruit from. That tree was in the garden. One tree they could not touch. As soon as they disobeyed, they knew they had done wrong. They now have knowledge of evil...to disobey God is evil....and they know now that to obey God is Good.. The knowledge of Good and Evil...both sides. Their eyes now opened. They know both sides.
Genesis 3
22 Then the LORD God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of Us, to know good and evil. And now, lest he put out his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever”— 23 therefore the LORD God sent him out of the garden of Eden to till the ground from which he was taken.
Adam disobeyed, now he's kicked out of the garden.

24 So He drove out the man; and He placed cherubim at the east of the garden of Eden, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the tree of life.
The angel is keeping guard of this spiritual tree which is the Word of God...Truth...The devil is there dont forget and he wants to destroy the truth, the Word of God...So this particular angel is guarding the truth. Not only guarding it, but also a witness, at the very place God first spoke to them in this garden. God's word will stand forever, as he speaks truth.

To the serpent he said;
Gen 3:14 And the Lord God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the firld; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life
This is an example. God will do as he says. His word will follow through.

It is vital to understand the location of Eden if it is NOT on the Earth as most of humanity likes to teach.
Is this some strange new doctrine? We have to believe the scriptures. God made the heavens and the earth. He started by putting man in a garden ON EARTH. It was filled with trees, and herbs and animals, and oceans, and rivers etc. It had sand. Man tilled the ground. Man multiplied from there on. This is how we all got here. Evil was born & multiplied as well.
where does it say Eden was destroyed in the flood?
Genesis 6:17 And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven, and everything that is in the earth shall die.
Everything dies on the earth. Including flaura and fauna.

why is the tree of life symbolic but Adam and Eve and God and the garden of Eden is not?
Because God is spirit. The tree of life is spirit. Adam and eve are human.

How are you allowed in to eat of the Tree of life?
You obey God, everything that he tells us. If he tells us we can only get to him by one door and to obey his son, then we must eat Christ's flesh (spiritual truth, word of God) in order to have everlasting life. What ever God commands us, if we obey, we eat of the tree of life.

through the Gate who is Jesus Christ because He died for the remission of our sins and to grant us that honor.
